I can’t thank you all enough for commenting on the previous post. Yay!!! I had so much fun today reading everyone’s favorite Starbuck’s drink and some of your favorite movies. Good thing there isn’t a Starbuck’s drive-thru close by or I would’ve hit that thing up a couple of times today after all the good drink ideas. Ha! I tried to reply to everyone’s comments- if I missed you I’m really sorry. The random winners will be chosen tomorrow at noon (California time), so if you haven’t commented yet you still can. Here are a few reasons I was scared no one would comment:

  • My mom occasionally looks at the blog. She’s really good at pointing out my grammatical errors. I even had to go back and fix one on this post. Now she’s claiming the computer isn’t working. Hmmm….. Love you Mom!
  • I’m not sure my dad has ever looked at this. I told him I posted some pictures of the two of us on my Mother’s Day post and he didn’t seem to show much interest.
  • My brother obviously doesn’t read this or I would’ve gotten a very nasty text about the post with our old school Christmas card picture. (If you haven’t seen it- it’s pretty funny.)
  • And….. Andrew has only looked at the blog when I’m shoving the laptop in his face (he’s usually looking at his phone instead). When I asked him to subscribe he told me he didn’t know how.

Needless to say……….. I was a little worried I would be someone waiting for everyone to come to my party and no one shows up. So thanks so much for reading and posting comments. It TOTALLY made my day.

Someone earned a sticker yesterday in her cool little notebook. ha ha ha!

Here’s a recap of yesterday’s meals. (Just in case you want to see. I love reading what other people eat, etc. I also really like seeing what other people have in their refrigerator/freezer/pantry. One time when I was watching Bethany Ever After I rewound the DVR like 5 times to try to figure out what kind of drink she had her fridge stocked with and what foods were in there. Does anyone else do that or is it just me?)

Breakfast was a Chef Jay’s protein bar (these bars are really good- they remind me of peanut butter oatmeal cookies) and my favorite morning mocha on the road to YMCA Strollerjam.


Then a Starbuck’s green tea soy Frappuccino on the way home.

Lunch was a Flatout wrap with turkey, a Laughing Cow Light cheese wedge, a jalapeño, and romaine with some kale chips.


And a Coke Zero. I really wish I didn’t like these as much as I do. It’s just so good sometimes in a tall glass over ice and with a straw. Smile

After teaching classes at the Y Monday night (yes, again, morning Strollerjam and then 3 more classes at night) I came home to find a house full of visitors. Yay! Our friends were visiting from out of town and stopped by and our other friends who came over live just down the street, but we haven’t seen them forever. Isn’t that funny how that happens? Look at all these guys.



Boys, boys, boys……….. (The wives didn’t want to be pictured- my sweaty self included.)

Luckily, my mom had brought over some of these earlier so I had a little something to offer our guests (and thank goodness we had guests so I didn’t have all of these sitting around the house to tempt me).

And after our company left (and after I finally took a shower)……

Dinner was broccoli slaw spaghetti with some zucchini, marinara sauce and chicken and a cheese sandwich (my favorite bread with a Laughing Cow Light Garlic and Herb cheese wedge and a Trader Joe’s low fat string cheese).



Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE my sandwich maker? (I actually have two of them: an older one I use for sweet sandwiches- think peanut butter and banana or cinnamon and sugar; and then this one for grilled cheese, garlic bread, etc. Don’t worry- I KNOW I have problems.) Look at this awesome sandwich it makes.


I cooked this one a little long so the cheese melted out the top. Oops.

Then………….. there was one of these little stinkers left. Isn’t it funny that just when you’re really trying to be good, somehow treats just find you?


Of course, only my favorite combination of peanut butter and chocolate, but I really wanted to be good so guess what I did.


Yep. I decided to freeze it. So silly, but I want to save it for a special occasion. I LOVE freezing food.


Bye bye little buddy. Maybe I’ll enjoy you over the weekend. Smile I opted for a mint chocolate Vitatop sandwich I made a couple of days ago with Cool Whip Free in the middle instead. Mmmmmm……..


It got so late last night, I didn’t even finish watching the Bachelorette. Don’t tell me what happens. It’s on my agenda for tomorrow night.

Today was super busy with Strollerwise and a trip to Costco. We got some good stuff from Costco ($300 worth). I’ll have to write a post on that tomorrow.

I’ll save you from all the details about my meals today. They were kind of boring, but I WILL leave you with my lunchtime smoothie.


In this smoothie: 1 cup nonfat Greek yogurt, 2 servings of PB2 powder (4 tablespoons), 1 splenda packet, a frozen banana, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, a handful of spinach and a pinch of xanthan gum.

Then I topped it with Kashi Go Lean Crunch- Honey Almond Flax.


I hadn’t had that cereal before. It was okay. Not my favorite and a little high in calories per serving (as opposed to other cereals I like), but it tasted like granola so it’s good if you like that kind of crunchy granola type cereal.

About halfway through I decided it needed a scoop of almond butter.


Now that was just awesome! Want to see a different view?

    I had to laugh about Andrew not “knowing” how to subscribe to your blog. What I’ve learnt in my 18 yrs of marital bliss is that husbands like to play the “stupid” trump card when they don’t really want to do something. It’s usually just because they are lazy. God Bless them ♥ Your cat just cracks me up! The Stehly’s are definitely a funny clan that puts a smile on my dial every day. One of the things I keep on hand in my fridge is a savoury and a sweet batch of quinoa. The sweet version I add to oatmeal for added protein and the savory I love to add to pesto which I love. Quinoa and Barley are high protein grains.

      A sweet version of quinoa??? Oh my- please share! I have a HUGE bag of it sitting in my pantry.
      And yes, Andrew told me to just subscribe for him. ha ha ha!

    I read your posts each and everyday and get them on my e-mail for easy access. I love them. Great combination of food, motivation, and fun with the kiddies and pets. Keep up the great work!

    Many people have said that Quinoa is too bitter for them. The key is to roast it before you cook it. Put on a baking tray and bake at 200 until it browns lightly, turning once. When it’s cooled down, store in a ziplock bag, ready for use.
    Sweet Quinoa:
    1/2 cup quinoa
    1 1/2 cups almond milk (you can use any other)
    1/2 cup water
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    2 Tablespoons brown sugar (you can also use honey or agave)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
    pinch salt (optional)

    Everything in a pot over medium heat and cook for 20 mins until the quinoa becomes opaque. Stir occasionally.

    * I have adapted this recipe many times. Sometimes I add more milk and no water. Or in addition to the cinnamon, I add some ginger. And my all time fave thing to add is half cup of frozen berries. Add them at the beginning so they get all soft and blend into the quinoa.

    I add to oatmeal or cold cereal. Also put in my smoothies. All in the name of adding more PROTEIN.
