Um, yeah, our adventures from yesterday will have to wait, because this morning, my friends, this “mama” was on the radio. Woo hoo!!!! My whole family has been listening to Jeff and Jer Showgram forever. Growing up Mom always had the radio on in the morning during breakfast or on the way to school. I’m carrying on the tradition with my little guys. Our mornings are not complete without our Jeff and Jer time (we were a little lost without them for about a year and a half- thank goodness our radio “family” is back).
Anyway…….. they were doing a contest for a gas card. Little Tommy was going to the gas station down the street.
Since I’ve never been able to win anything calling in (and I’ve tried A LOT of times), I decided it was worth a shot to drive down there and check it out.
An EMBARRASSINGLY dirty car, an obnoxious STUFT Fitness advertising sticker on the window,
twins in the back seat,
I was a shoe-in right?
Well….. I got lucky. Maybe because I happen to stop at this pump number
Little Tommy drove up and I got to be the FIRST contestant. Yippee! Not without a picture though first. (Thanks Little Tommy!)
The contest was to win a $200 gas card by stopping exactly on $9.65….. I was soo stinking nervous (but trying to be cool of course). I stopped it at………………………………..
KyXy…… 94.4
What the????? Man, so close! I was so excited about the whole thing I didn’t get a picture of the actual number I stopped at- I just proceeded to fill up my tank (like any other “cool” person would do) and the contest went on to the other people.
No winners today. (At the gas station anyway.)
From there we went on to Strollerwise at the park and then home for a much needed snack.
Hot summer days= Smoothies
(In the mix today- spinach, Chobani peach Greek yogurt, frozen strawberries, vanilla soymilk and apple juice.)
and a low fat banana muffin
And for me……..
Oats in a jar- Mmmmm……..
Cottage Cheese Oats in a Jar
- 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
- 1/4 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- 2 splenda packets
- cinnamon
All of that mixed in a Trader Joe’s Almond Butter jar – with a spoonful (or two) of almond butter on the bottom. I let them sit for a couple of hours in the refrigerator.
Topped off with a little Trader Joe’s Trek Mix and 1/2 apple crumb Vitatop.
Now we were talking.
Who needs a $200 gas card when you can have this? With a cool tea spoon?
1/2 the Vitatop went in my jar.
the other half……………..
Well, since they polished off their banana muffin they wanted mine of course. It’s always hard to share my Vitatops, but I was in a good mood.
Have a good one! Nap time is OVER!!!!!!

That’s awesome that you got to meet Tommy. I love Jeff & Jer! Also, do you make your smoothies with spinach in a regular blender or a food processor?
I know- Aren’t they awesome????? I make smoothies in the Magic Bullet. Love it and it’s so nice to make single serving quick smoothies.
I love that you were on the air and your husband’s baby bird was on TV! There were so many signs… Bummer, no gas card – grrr.
Okay, just because you brought it up – the teaspoon. I got a set of them like a year ago and I ALWAYS use them. It drives my whole family crazy that they have to dig through to get a regular one. BUT when eating out of a jar or a deep mug, they are the best- hahaha!
Love the blogs! Thanks for all you do!
Okay Beth, I’m glad you said that. I went to Bed, Bath and Beyond SPECIFICALLY in search of a tea spoon. I bought 6. Oops. But……. I totally look forward to using it. I’m purposely trying to make things to eat out of a glass so I can use them. ha ha ha! I guess I’m having yogurt for lunch!!! 🙂
