Fitness Friday Forgotten?

NO way!!!!!!! I envisioned myself posting a workout on here every Friday when I started this blog. I think I did it once. Oops. One of these days maybe I’ll get on a schedule.

Anyway…… last night I ate my burnt dinner. I guess it doesn’t look that bad in this picture. Roasted zucchini, cheesy wild bread STUFT style, and some marinara. It was a little pretty crispy, but I was too tired to fix up anything else.


I guess I “suffered through”. But I DID save room for my Golden Spoon.


Frozen yogurt is soooooo good on hot summer nights.

This morning the alarm went off at 6. I was tempted to stay in bed, but knew if I didn’t get up and get my butt on the treadmill I would regret it. Morning workouts just make the rest of the day that much better. Soo……….. I got up. One plus about having the treadmill at home is that you can pretty much put on any gross outfit and not worry about anyone seeing you.

I’m pretty sure they’re about 8 years old from Target. I didn’t even put on a shirt (that’s how I roll on the treadmill at home while everyone is sleeping). Should I dare expose my “pointer” belly button??????


Yikes. I have a feeling I’m going to regret that. I have to be honest though and tell you that it usually looks A LOT worse than that. The side view is the funniest!

Okay, so on to the treadmill workout. Here are a couple tips before we start.

I love having something to watch that will keep my interest. If I know I’m going to be on there a long time I try to get a good movie or something. Today I knew I only had a short amount of time so I went with Sex and the City. Perfect length- about 30 minutes an episode. (And I like to pretend I’m Carrie when I type on my laptop so it motivated me to blog too. In fact, I’m pretending right now.) Smile


It’s important to always do a short warm-up. A brisk walk or slow jog. It helps get your muscles warm and loosen up your joints a bit to lower the risk of injury.

Just to warn you- the calorie counts on exercise equipment at gyms (or at home) is usually not accurate unless you’re wearing a heart rate monitor that syncs with the machine. I really doubt I burned that many calories, but I guess it gives you a rough estimate.

Generally speaking, you burn 100 calories per mile that you walk or jog. You’ll burn more with interval training (like this workout) because you’ll burn more calories afterwards, but I like to use 100 calories/mile as a general rule of thumb. Maybe you just don’t feel like running and that’s okay. You can walk instead (it just takes longer.)

Holy moly, right???? I can’t wait to share my obsession with my green microwave muffins.

I guess this guy doesn’t want to show his face today. Oh well.

Okay, gotta go! It’s lunchtime. I’m going for my favorite ginger wasabi green salad.

    just did this workout last night on the treadmill and loved it! time goes by so fast, and it’s psychologically so much easier to get into than a long run. plus I felt so good sprinting on the treadmill in the last minute! thanks.
