You need to read that pretending to sound like the guy on the loudspeaker at the horse races. For the life of me I can NOT sound as good as him, but I CAN hear the voice loud and clear in my head.
Oh yes, we made it to Opening Day today. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve gone so we added it to our staycation fun. Come to think of it though we didn’t actually WATCH any of the races. What the heck?
So many things happened today. So many fun sights to see and I don’t want to bore you with my jibber jabber so… here’s our nonstop day of fun with pictures and captions. Enjoy!!!
Traffic was NOT fun. It took us over 2 hours to actually get in to the races.
Luckily I packed everything I could for the ride (I need to maximize every minute I have). I read half an US Weekly and painted my nails. Oh, and ate a very delicious Peanut Butter and Jelly Supreme Protein bar.
We finally made it inside.
And easily found our brother-in-law. (Yes, the same brother-in-law that is Batman.)
He made this hat (and the one I wore) for the contest. Pretty darn awesome.
You need the full view and effect. The hat had to be LIFTED onto our friend Jim’s head. I was very thankful mine wasn’t as big (and heavy).
Here we are.
And here we ALL are. Aren’t my sister-in-laws all just soooooo cute!!!!!! (Not sure what the heck I’m doing in this picture. I was not in pain even though it looks like something is stabbing my back. There’s a different picture of all of us, but some people aren’t looking, so I decided to take one for the team and post this one with my funky pose. And BTW, I’m totally sucking in my stomach, ha ha ha!)
Here’s a closer look at my hat.
Pretty cool, huh? And, um, how do I say this……. There were a lot of well-endowed women there today (I’m guessing a few of them paid good money to be that way). I made due with my “$30 miracle” (if you know what I mean). Ha!
Oh, the hat contest.
I got this lovely email sometime in the course of the afternoon.
Yeah, that’s from Jillian Michaels. I don’t even know what to say. I am Jillian’s email list and get daily messages, but this one was not a fun one. I think I did her online program for a couple months about 9 years ago. Is that what I “quit”? Oh well……………. things got a little better after that.
That’s right! We’ve got a winner!!! Woo hooo!!!! While the actual race was going on I was waiting in this LONG line
for a $4.50
soft overcooked pretzel and a $4 small diet Pepsi.
Oh well, yay for a fun date day and for actually winning a little money. Exacta box baby!!!!!
Oh, and yay for Andrew holding my ginormous purse for me while I waited in the mile long bathroom line.
After we left the races we picked up the boys from Tutu’s house (she and my other sister-in-law babysat for us) and since they had already had baths
and I had just won big
AND Andrew was having some serious cell phone issues……..
We were THAT couple. I’m a little embarrassed, but sometimes you just do what you have to do.
Daddy really needed a new phone and by the looks of it he loved every minute of being in the store.
Then….. to my pleasant surprise there was a new self serve yogurt place a couple doors down.
Oh yes we did.
Don’t worry, we got it to go. Dang though, if only the boys were wearing their Huggies Jean Diapers I would feel a little better about all this. Ha ha ha!
After the boys went to bed we finally sat down with the last of the Skinnygirl margaritas
some Las Brasas (chicken burrito and spicy carrots for me)
some Storage Wars (Andrew’s choice, not mine)
and our frozen yogurt.
(I love self serve because you can try a little of each topping. Mmmmmm……)
Phew, what a day (and I didn’t even mention my morning treadmill run and our green hooligan pancakes). Good night! Tomorrow seems like it’s going to be a TJ kind of day…………….
