Saturday Ramblings

Yesterday afternoon we ventured out to Target after naps and after I got a little assistance with the laundry.

I totally showed up to Target with yogurty oats all over my shorts (Which were cut-off sweats like I used to wear in high school. Classy. I totally forgot to change my shorts before heading out the door. We were NOT a pretty sight and it just so happens that I forgot my camera. Shucks.)

But….. the oats that made it on my shorts were delicious. I made some basic overnight oats and let them sit for about an hour. Mmmmmmm….. even better, they were in a SunButter jar that I had saved up from this past week (don’t mind the messy desk behind it. I’m still taking baby steps on my MO).

We’ve been making a lot of smoothies around here with SunButter so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the almost empty jar. This stuff is addicting (the SunButter and the oats)!!!!!

Basic Overnight Oats

  • 1/3 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup milk alternative (I used Trader Joe’s unsweetened coconut milk)
  • 1/2 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seed
  • 2 splenda packets (I added a couple drops of stevia vanilla crème sweetener too)
  • splash of vanilla

Look at these.

And even better with my favorite tea spoon. I’m really thinking about carrying it around with me in my purse (or diaper bag, etc.). It’s just THAT fun (oops, and spotty. I guess my dishwasher detergent DOES leave spots).

And…… look at this fortune from the cookie Judah got his hands on yesterday afternoon.

Holy cow. Love it!

We ate Costco Orange Chicken for dinner last night (we had to go Chinese after the cool fortune and all)with Trader Joe’s brown jasmine rice and Chinese vegetables (with shrimp). It was awesome. We also drank a bottle of cheap Sutter Home Moscato (I got it for $3.50 at Vons a couple months ago).

This morning I inhaled a banana and iced mocha at 7:23 (boot camp started at 7:45). I really need to get a grip on my schedule.

We had a small group for boot camp today. You never know who’s going to make it during the summer with everyone’s schedules. Sometimes it’s hard not to take it personally, but we DID have a great overcast morning without any gnats in our faces (or stuck to our sweaty necks, legs, etc.) and some good company. Yay!

On the way to the Y I was lucky enough to get behind these guys.

Good thing I wasn’t running late and I had my Chef Jay’s protein bar (my FAVORITE protein bar– oats, peanut butter, peanut butter filling, YUM) in hand.

The best price I’ve found is on All Star Health. They are a fabulous website and the shipping and customer service is great. I order a lot of my protein bars from them. Smile

Then for lunch I polished off this little salad from Trader Joes.

I mixed in some broccoli slaw and had to put it in a cuter bowl. Smile It was pretty impressive!

But now I’m craving a little something sweet. Hmmm…… what shall I have? And I have no idea what I’m going to make for dinner. I hate that.

And…… now I REALLY have to go because the smoothie I just made for the boys (during my blogging break) is on the floor. Grrrrr……… Why can’t Joaquin ask for more nicely? Does he have to chuck his cup?

PS- I just posted a picture of the mess on my Facebook page. See you later! Have a wonderful Saturday night!

Okay – the teaspoon keeps coming up and I laugh. I know I told you I have a set of the long ones that NO ONE else in my house likes, so they have to dig through to get a regular one. That is a little funny – I think. BUT I also like to use really tiny spoons and forks and for some reason especially when I am in my car headed somewhere and eating on the run… SO I keep an emergency small spoon in my purse and an emergency small fork in my car. Both my son and husband on different occasions were like, “what the heck is that??”. I just laugh and my daughter gets it and laughs with me. Must be a girl thing – haha!!!

To get rid of spots from the dishwasher….run a cup of vinegar through the machine. Do this with your washing machine too. It rids soap build up. To rid the spots on the actual utensil or glass…you got it….vinegar.
I have some tips to get Joaquin to stop throwing his cup. Too much to say….and since I’m not sure you WANT my unsolicited advice…I’ll leave it up to you to ask me at the Y if you want to hear it 🙂
