Fresh Start

 

GOOD MORNING! Smile

I feel like I’ve been gone forever. I actually haven’t gone anywhere, but we had some family in town from Nebraska, and instead of trying to work my weekend away I turned off the computer and put away my phone.

It was weird, but almost like a breath of fresh air. This morning I got up early and am starting off with an early breakfast before my long day.

I’m trying something new this week. Going to bed at a decent time. I know I say every week that I’m going to get more sleep, but today, I’m putting my foot down. Last night around midnight I toyed with the idea of writing a post, but chose to go to bed instead.

I organized like crazy last night. You know how organizing one little drawer turns into a huge project. That’s totally what happened. I went through the entire kitchen. Among about 20 unread magazines, a lot of recipes and stack of coupons, I found this page I had ripped out of Self Magazine.

These of course are things I know, but the last few weeks I’ve been eating more processed foods than normal, not getting enough sleep and drinking a few more drinks than usual. In the process I’ve put on a few pounds (our scale is broken so I haven’t actually weighed myself) and just felt a little puffy and lethargic. I know that I never really followed through with getting rid of those 7 pesky pounds before our anniversary (in fact I have no idea where my little food journal is- oops). I’m not going to worry about it too much though. This week I’m going to focus on some healthier changes, but not be obsessive about counting calories or anything. Thank goodness I’m not working on fitting into “the jeans” anymore. Ha! I know if I take care of myself, rest and eat healthy my body will do what it has to do. Just like the last sentence, it’s soooo much easier to stick to a healthy diet and workout schedule (and tackle everyday tasks) when you’re well rested.

Enough about that. Let’s talk about the weekend.

My cousins were in town and it was so great hanging out with them. We don’t see each other very often, but when we hang out it’s always so much fun.

It was of course filled with lots of good food (thanks Mom)

Ugh. This is supposed to be our “office”. Someday it’ll get there. Right now that’s my pregnancy scrapbook still spread out all over the table. Yes, untouched since the day I gave birth. Nice.

Please tell me I’m not the only one with this problem. I can’t even look in this room. Deep breaths. Ha!

Besides getting more sleep and shunning processed food this week, I’m going to attempt to get this room organized. Good luck, huh?

    I’m right there with you! Less processed foods and more sleep! My goal is 9:30pm and I haven’t made it yet…shameful for sure.

    I too find things to be so much more tolerable once I’m well rested and get an adequate amount of sleep. And I’m with you on the drinking part and feeling puffy…I sometimes have a lil too much fun with champagne (especially TJ’s Almond Champagne -so good!) and you wanna talk about puffiness, ugh! Though I strive to be healthy the majority of the time, I sometimes have to remind myself to keep balanced with it all 🙂
