Bacon in Bako

Bacon in Bako

Ha ha! It should be Bakin’ in Bako. SmileIt actually wasn’t THAT hot and I spent the majority of our time there in the air conditioned house. Andrew DID get to cook bacon though at our friends’ house for breakfast which he was pretty excited about. And I was pretty excited because he wasn’t cooking it at OUR house! Ha! I can’t stand the smell of greasy bacon around the house.

The weekend was a get together with my best friends from college.  I didn’t take too many pictures on our trip while we were actually spending time with our friends. There was too much talking and catching up to do (and chasing around my crazy boys). Luckily, one is a professional photographer and she documents our get togethers for all of us. She also makes a mean flourless chocolate cake and some fabulous red velvet whoopee pies. I ate A LOT of desserts.

Anyway, It was our first trip with the boys over night. I had no idea what went into packing for a family rather than just Andrew and I. Hmm… let’s just say we’re not planning another family night away anytime in the near future. Ha!

Andrew packed up the car really well. We fit everything in, including one of big giant zucchinis.

I had plenty of leg room.

One requirement for road trips is a stop at Starbucks on the way (and for gas since I usually forget to fill up the car).

Andrew drove. I got to catch up on some reading.

Katy Perry’s legs? Yes please. Smile I SHOULD have done my toe nails before seeing my friends. Oh well, they’ve seen me at my worst, I wasn’t trying to impress.

Hmm… let’s just say it was a LONG trip there. A lot of traffic. Andrew said at least 5 times “This is the worst drive of my life”.

I tried to stay positive while consuming one too many caffeinated drinks.

The boys were champs in the car. Thank goodness.

We finally got there. It was time for a swim in their fancy schmancy pool.

And a time for all our kids to hang out together.

And time for the adults to hang out too.

The sun went down (and so did the kids).

It was OUR time to play (and apparently not take very many pictures-oops). Smile

6 families. 1 huge house. Good food. Good drinks. Lots of laughs. The bestest friends a girls could ask for.

These girls are the kind of friends that I can’t really explain. All I know is that I am the luckiest girl in the world to have been placed in a room on a specific floor in a particular dorm freshman year of college. Some people might think it was chance. I’m convinced it was fate for us all to be brought together. We are the bestest of friends and no matter what life brings us, we always will be. I won’t go into specifics about the kind of person I was in college, that’s a whole different post, but I am truly blessed to have had the opportunity to lives with these girls for four wonderful years. All of them (Jenn, Jenn, Jasmine, Megan, Sasha, Deena) are incredible. I really didn’t deserve the amazing friends they were to me back then, and I don’t deserve it now, but I thank God for them everyday. They have truly changed my life.

Only they would drive all the way down to be there at the finish of my first marathon. There were a million other things they could have been doing.

I still can’t look at that picture without getting all sappy.

I love them all from the bottom of my heart!

It was obviously sad to say good bye the next day. A little Subway stop helped ease the heart ache.

I’ve never really been a big fan of Subway. Although they make it look so great on The Biggest Loser.

Well, I was more than impressed and loved the soft bread and the variety of veggies to choose from.

Check out my turkey sandwich.

They even have cute little kid’s meals that come in a gender friendly bag with a milk or juice and apple slices or a cookie.

And the napkin has all the calorie counts on it. I added pepper jack cheese to my turkey sub (which had every single vegetable they had to offer on it) so according to this it was about 320 calories. I’m guessing it was a little more. It was too good and too big, but it’s nice to have a ball park figure.

When we got home it was back to our usual antics around here, including a toothbrush in the toilet.

(Then in the trash.)

I think we’re still recovering a little today.

Off to The Bachelor Pad. He he! Hope I can stay awake.

I leave you with this:

Give a close friend a hug (or a phone call).

Get a yummy 6 inch from Subway. Smile

That sounds like a fantastic little trip. I love having friends with young kids too to enjoy time together. They understand things others just can’t. Plus they have little ones to help entertain your own. LOL

I am glad you guys were able to make it up, even if it was the “worst drive ever.” I believe I have said that at least 20 times in my life, or I was just talking about the people around me and you can replace drive with “driver.” Either way, had a great time.
