Porta potty? Ha ha ha! (I’m really not laughing in my head right now, but I’ll try to keep this light hearted.)
Today was America’s Finest City Half marathon. The last race to complete my Triple Crown (Carlsbad Marathon, La Jolla Half, and AFC Half). I thought I might be able to get my PR, but too many nights of not getting enough rest and making the mistake of listening to Andrew when he told me to add some Marie Sharp’s Hot Sauce to my dinner last night got in the way.
I’ll spare you the details, but I started out ahead of pace (mile one was 7:15) and by mile 12 I HAD to stop and use the porta potty DURING THE RACE. Grrr……
I was hoping to break 140, but oh well. There’s always next time.
Sometimes you have to accept races like that.
The important part is that I finished and had to ability to be able to do it.
Everyone out there that did it should be proud!
And at least Andrew and the boys (and flat Kitty, but he didn’t make an appearance) made it out there about 15 minutes after I crossed the finish line. Ha ha!
They got there just in time for the free breadsticks.
And to bite hold mama’s medals.
On the way to the car I had to take a picture with my new friends.
Thanks a lot Spanky’s. You messed with my pace.
We attempted to go to breakfast at Coyote Café in Old Town San Diego.
Pancake for the boys.
Egg white breakfast burrito for me.
And well, it was fun for about 5 minutes until I started feeling really sick again and these two had had enough sitting time. No clean plate club for me today.
Ugh.
We had to leave, but not without a stop at the candy store to pick up some taffy for our “Kaileypalooza” party tonight.
This guy was quite the helper and really had a thing for the cinnamon roll flavor. Let’s hope everyone at the party like cinnamon.
I spent the rest of the afternoon laying around in my sweaty racing clothes. So not fun. I couldn’t even celebrate with any fun food.
I just admired my bib.
Okay, while I’m feeling a little better I wanted to give you the Peas and Thank You cookbook giveaway winner (because I said I’ll do it after the race).
Congratulations Erin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!! Email me and I’ll get the cookbook to you! You will LOVE it!
Thanks EVERYONE for your comments and now I can go back and reply to them (probably tomorrow though).
Taking the rest of the night easy!
What did you do this weekend?

That breakfast burrito looks interesting!! And beans on the side?? Yummy!!!
Me Erin? Woo hoo! I never win anything. Thank you SO much.
I’m sorry you got sick but congratulations for finishing. I just finished Week 2 of Couch to 5K and I’m having a really hard time. I haven’t run since PE in high school! The fact that you’ve run these three races is such an inspiration. Way to go! Feel better.
Congrats on finishing week 2 of couch to 5k. 🙂 Love the name by the way. 🙂 Will get your book to you ASAP. On my list for tomorrow!
You are so fast girl and without that potty break at mile 12 (not to mention in the middle of the LONG hill) you would have beat 1:40, no problem! Love the pic of you and the boys admiring their strong mama! Hope you get some rest! 🙂
I think they were anticipating the breadsticks. 🙂
Good job mama, sorry you didn’t feel good!
Good for you!!! I would love to be where you are some day! Thank goodness for porta potties?! I hope they were somewhat “fresh” for you…:-)
