Pronounced “Yello?”
That’s how Tutu answers the phone. The boys are at her house right now and I’m on a mission to get as many things done as possible (starting with this post of course).
We try to be cool like Tutu around here (because she’s just THAT amazing) and since STUFT Daddy locked up all of Judah’s phones the other day
only the real thing would do.
“Yello?”
These guys are obsessed with this thing.
Luckily they haven’t quite made any real phone calls, but I’m sure that’s coming soon.
And while were on the topic of “yello”, we went to lunch at this amazing place yesterday.
Wait, don’t be fooled. These guys were impressed too, it just took them awhile to warm-up. And it’s a good thing they were because this is as close to Disneyland as we’re going to get for awhile. Ha!
Check this place out.
The boys and I rarely go out to lunch, but yesterday we couldn’t pass up an invitation. We went with our friends and all their kids- 4 adults and 7 highchairs.
Hmm… I wonder why they put us in the corner.
I didn’t get the memo that we were supposed to look cute. I had on “my uniform” (Old Navy tank top and shorts) but did manage to get some lip gloss on. There’s Ari from The Diva Dish on the right. She’s the one that told us about this fun place! My new Strollerwise friends are so fun.
The Yellow Deli people were very accommodating with our big group and the food was delicious.
The boys got a hot dog which they seemed to like a lot better than the veggie dogs I make them at home. I had a Chef’s salad.
and the top of that blueberry muffin (that was also for the boys). Mmm……. and love that the dressing comes on the side so you only have to use a little bit. It was the creamiest full fat ranch.
After lunch (and waiting in line at the Vons gas station for 15 minutes) I just HAD to take a nap. It was one of those days and I needed to rest up for a big night of teaching my spin class followed by a trip to Costco (yes, I shop all sweaty and gross).
I got home at 9:30 with a car full of Costco goods. Thank goodness Andrew got out of bed to help me unload or I would’ve been one really grumpy mama.
Today started with a protein pancake for me and the boys. It’s perfect for a light breakfast packed with protein.
Protein Oat Pancake
1/2 cup egg substitute
a little vanilla soymilk (or other nondairy milk)
splash of vanilla
cinnamon to taste
pinch of salt
sweetener of choice (I used a Splenda packet for mine and a little regular sugar for the boys)
2 tablespoons oats
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into nonstick pan sprayed with cooking spray. (I use PAM Butter flavor spray for these.)
Cook evenly on both sides.
You can serve it on a fancy Costco paper plate with some agave. (I did this for the boys.)
Or put it on a cute plate with some sugar free maple syrup for yourself.
Sometimes I like to add a couple sprays of I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray too. I’m sure it’s no surprise that I pretty much always have it with an iced mocha.
I’ve also made green versions of this before by blending in a handful of spinach.
And sometimes I like the oats to be a bit crunchier so I add them on top instead of in the mix.
I love to experiment with different toppings. My favorite is some PB2 or Naturally More and sugar free syrup.
Feel free to experiment.
Okay, I’m on to tackle my MONSTER to-do list. I have to make the best of my couple hours ALONE. I better be productive. In my mind the entire house and closets are organized 3 hours from now. Ha!
I’ll share some fun things I found at Costco later on. It was a good trip.
Random questions for the day:
What’s your favorite pancake topping?
Does anyone else have to tuck in their belly button in their workout pants? I do and I feel like this guy.

Nice Urkel! Now THAT is the image I am going to have of you when I am trying to seriously burn some calories on Saturday. Thanks!! HAHA!!! Too funny. I tried to also clean and organize my WHOLE house today. I was like a drill sergeant – the kids were frantically trying to find somewhere else to go, and I only got my closet cleaned. And I truly worked REALLY hard – but maybe tomorrow I will get two more closets, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and the rest of the house cleaned (the kitchen alone feels like it may take a month with all the crap I have in there and it is TINY)! Goals, right? We need to set them.
Thanks for the laughs with your posts – Beth
He he! Yeah, now you can think of Urkel during class. 🙂 Awesome that you worked really hard today. That kind of stuff is a workout in itself. 🙂 Good luck tomorrow. I know, the kitchen ALWAYS takes the longest. Why is that? So glad you’re back.
YOU are awesome!!! Still can’t figure out how you can juggle the boys and make all of these amazing recipes! Two questions: 1. Do you pre steam/freeze your carrots before you add them to your smoothies or are they blended raw? 2. Have been hearing a lot of buzz about Shakeology. What’s your take in the fitness world? And BTW, I’m still waiting for you to get a Vitamix so you can wow us with new creations! 🙂
Carrots go in as is. 🙂 Just toss them in. Haven’t heard much abotu Shakeology, but now I need ot do some research. Will get back to you on that. Ohh….. a vita………
Hi… Don’t care for pancakes much because I don’t like soggy food. If I do it eat, I like to dip the dry ones in blueberries or strawberries. I don’t have to tuck my belly button in bit unfortunately I have to tuck in a roll of skin leftover from 4 babies…. Not sure which is worse. It’s like an extra organ. 🙂
I would have NEVER guessed that. You look great. Yeah, I guess the grass is always greener……. Belly button? Skin? It’s a toss up. 🙂
whoaaaa- you are one busy woman!!! :O I think my head would spin and fall off if I had all that stuff to do! lol 😉
Sometimes I wish my head would spin off (then I could catch a break to sit still). 🙂
awesome!! i love this post and the idea for the coach’s oats cookie and choc pb cottage cheese. but my favorite thing ever is the picture of joaquin’s kissy face. MUAH! love love. and i ditto jenn’s question on shakeology…
Dee- That MUAH is for you! (I had to google how to spell it). 🙂
I don’t have to tuck in my belly button but I have to tuck in what I call the “post baby ski slope”. The top of my stomache is nice and flat and when it gets to my belly button and below it juts out like it’s waiting for a downhill skier to jump off. I think when I pull my shorts up to squish it in I look like I have a flatter belly but it really just makes me look like steve urkle. Boo! P.S. I’m visiting my inlaws this weekend and I’m introing them to the world of chilled oats. I can’t wait for b-fast!
Oo… a sky slope would be cool! 🙂 I hear you on Steve Urkel. You know, I met him once in real life. Maybe that was a sign of what was going to happen to me. ha ha! How did your inlaws like the cold oats???
