Workout Wednesday- 10 Minute Calorie Blaster

 

When I started this blog I totally envisioned myself writing a workout post every Wednesday. Well, then I got a little too overexcited about all the food and kitchen experiments, etc. and let my love of making green things overshadow my emphasis on fitness.

So today we’re trying out Workout Wednesday.

On a side note, I have been ALL about the snacks lately. Does that ever happen to you? I’m not craving big meals, but can’t get enough finger foods/snacks.

I just had the most amazing snack ever.

Oh yes. That Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Dip has reappeared. It had been way too long and since I got a HUGE order of PB2 the other day, I had to put it to good use.

The dip went really well with some homemade cinnamon crisps. I even added a crushed square of Bakers Semi Sweet chocolate to the mix.

It was heavenly.

While I was making the dip I discovered that garbanzo beans are a perfect snack for the boys.

Which was shortly followed by the discovery that we’re not quite ready to say goodbye to those special snack trap cups.

Okay, on to the workout.

Today I’m giving you a short, high intensity interval workout that you can do at home. We do similar circuits like this at STUFT Boot Camp and at my Y40X class I teach at the YMCA. I presented something similar to this at Fitness Palooza.

Here you go-

 

Do each move for 1 minute. Rest. Repeat circuit 1-2 times. Your legs will LOVE you! Smile

 

10 Minute STUFT Family Circus Circuit

(low intensity modifications are in parenthesis)

 

Frog Jumps (squat step forward/back)

Log Jumps (standing high knees)

Curtsey Lunges with a Leap (side step in between lunges)

Plié Hops (plié squats)

Mountain Climbers (plank toe taps or just regular plank)

 

Since we’re having so much fun taping our moves of the week we thought we’d show you these moves too.

 

A couple of notes on the video-

Don’t mind Judah- he was recovering from a little incident with a spray bottle.

I AM aware that we really need to get our carpets cleaned.

Kitty was there for the first taping, but the videographer (me) only shot my lower body so we had to shoot this again.

Actually, we shot this 3 times because the second time the boys decided to wrestle right in front of the camera and it was NOT a quiet match.

      Kate- thank you. They are much cuter when they aren’t standing on furniture. He he! I think I overcompensate for my workouts with too much food. Oops. One of these days I’ll get it right. :)

      Thanks Shannon- you are too kind. It is an easy workout to do when you don’t have a lot of time. Obviously it gets your heart rate up quickly as I’m panting by the end without even doing the full thing. ha ha!
