Mmmmmm….. Balls

Not to be confused with these Schweddy Balls.

Before I get to the Schweddy SunButter balls, here’s what I devoured for lunch after my long training run today (17.5 miles).

A pretty perfect Flatout wrap if you ask me.

In the Flatout wrap- these chicken skewers from Costco, goat cheese, Scotty B’s Berries and Heat sauce and a handful of spinach.

While I was running today I thought about how running is really selfish sometimes. I forget how time consuming marathon training is. I feel bad sometimes that I’m using my time to run instead of catching up with emails, taking care of my boys, returning phone calls from friends, cleaning the house, etc.

Does anyone else ever feel like that?

On the other hand I think of running as a gift. Somehow along the way I was blessed with the ability to run. Fifteen years ago I couldn’t run because I had such bad back problems. Over the past eight years or so though I really started to love it. I better use my gift while I have it, right?

(A quick little shout out to Grandma D for babysitting. Thanks for letting me use my “gift” today Mom.)

Sorry, enough rambling.

Hey, I rambled just enough though that now I’m eating this.

Nonfat Greek yogurt with a few regular oats, some SunButter and fresh blueberries.

Yum.

Now I’m going to show you a bunch of STUFT SunButter Doughtzel Ball pictures.

Why?

Because I just wrote a little guest post for SunButter and I felt it was my job to create a SunButter version of Peanut Butter Doughtzel Balls.

You’d rather see a bunch of pictures of balls than read my rambling anyway, right?

Ha ha!

Here you go.

Um.. oops. In case you’re wondering, yes, you can just eat the dough and yes, it’s fabulous.

That wasn’t me.

STUFT SunButter Doughtzel Balls

I’m planning on making some of these for our house guests that are here this weekend. I’m going to bribe them with balls to not look in the closet.

Happy Friday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Do you bake cookies for the holidays? If so, what are your favorites?

If there is anyone that knows balls like I know balls…it’s you! We are all balls here. I made some last year and looking through my site tonight remembered that I haven’t made my gingerbread dough balls this year…I need to start making some balls when I get back from NY next week. Enjoy your balls and I hope you got some good free time today!

How do you get them looking so gooey?! They look so good! And my long runs are always very therapeutic so I just figure, that’s partly my mental health time, if that makes sense?? So I try to never feel guilty for taking that time to myself. Have a good weekend!

I feel the same way about running, I love it, but I’m so slow that my long runs take absolutely forever, time when I could be cleaning my house, playing with the little runners, and in the cold of winter, it’s hard to get motivated to get out there.

PS – balls do look good, the perfect combo of soft and flakey… makes me want to bake.

Nadine- I know, it’s hard to get motivated, but I think we need that running time right? It’s so nice to juts be by myself sometimes. Ha! The balls are good. They make me want to bake too. :)

I love those doughtzel balls! I used to do a huge spread of cookies and candy for my friends and neighbors. Now that time is more pressed, I only make banana bread and tons of toffee! I made 15lbs. of toffee on Saturday, my house smells like See’s Candyshop….it’s a good way to stay thin during the holidays, eating sweets are the last thing on my mind right now!

Ha ha! First of all, Cheryl, I want to come over and get some of that toffee off your hands. Good idea to just go with that and banana bread. I make like 5 different kinds of cookies each year to give out to everyone and it is very time consuming. Who knows when I’ll get to that. Maybe I should just give out green muffins. Ha! Good point about sweets being the last thing on your mind. You may be onto something…. :)
