FK Weather Watch and Some Seuss Inspiration

makita cordless chainsaws

husqvarna 137 chainsaw Happy Saturday! Flat Kitty decided to be a fair weathered friend yesterday so this week’s Flat Kitty Friday has turned into Saturday. Definitely not the first time I couldn’t get my act together. Ha.

chainsaw dance A quick look at our date night dinner last night before the weather fun just because I annoyed Andrew by taking pictures of everything. I better put them to use.

Salmon, quinoa (made in the rice cooker just like rice), roasted sweet potatoes and roasted broccoli.

We topped everything with a few of our favorite sauces.

IMG_9171

Oh that Bolani Sweet Jalapeño is so good and well, you all know about my obsession with all of Scotty B’s hot sauces. He he.

We tried this new wine from Trader Joe’s.

IMG_9167

We weren’t impressed. Nothing beats my favorite wine.

We were impressed though with our Modern Family date night entertainment.

IMG_9172

Best show ever.

I also had a Vitatop for dessert (with some three ingredient fudge) which reminds me that today is the last day for this special.

Most of them are dairy free.

Okay, weather time.

Wait, first Flat Kitty helped my friend Erin make an entire week’s worth of healthy green smoothies to freeze. She’s a genius. (Erin, not Flat Kitty. He’s a boy anyway.)

Flat Kitty

I might have to copy that idea.

Okay, now onto weather.

First of all, not sure how the weather is outside at my FitFluential friend Danielle’s house in Las Vegas, but it looks likes it’s a little HOT on the stove.

Ha ha ha!

Over at Lindsay’s in North Carolina it looks like the weather was nice and sunny.

Oh and her cute little Henry is just adorable.

Over at Kinley’s in Wisconsin Flat Kitty begged for her cute dog Crosby to take him for walk in the 36 degree rain/snow.

img_6263

I don’t think they got too far, but that Crosby- what a champ.

img_6269

Over at Sara’s in Northern California Flat Kitty tried to make her take him out in the hail.

flatkittyweather

I’m pretty sure she stayed inside and made Flat Kitty just watch the first hail storm of the year.

Over at Sarena’s in Atlanta it was a whopping 75 degrees with brown leaves on the ground.

IMG_8058IMG_8059

I really wish Flat Kitty would tell her and her family to move out to California. Ha ha.

Now, over in Arizona with Melissa, Flat Kitty really got spoiled.

001

It was the perfect day for a pool date.

(I can’t stop laughing at this picture. Melissa, you just made my day.)

Smile

Around here in San Diego Flat Kitty enjoyed some nice weather also.

IMG_9159

Since we don’t have a pool he suckered me into swinging on the hammock for a few minutes.

IMG_9165

He also talked me into reading this Dr. Seuss book to the boys before naptime yesterday.

IMG_9160

I’m not going to lie, I totally got choked up.

I’ve been kind of in a funk this week. I officially sent in my resignation letter to the school district about not returning to work full-time the other day and I’ve been all flustered ever since.

I fee a little “hung up” like this.

IMG_9161

I’m trying really hard to balance everything out, but just can’t seem to get it right.

IMG_9162

I secretly want to be like Bethany Frankel and someday be on the Ellen Show (I guess it’s not a secret because I’ve mentioned it before). It’s just so silly.

IMG_9164

This line gets me every time.

No matter who you are or where you are….

YOU are capable of moving mountains.

It might take awhile to get there, the path might be rough, but with passion and persistence you can do anything you want.

Yes?

I have to remind myself of that a lot.

Have a great Saturday friends!

I need to create a gluten free recipe for a contest this upcoming week and have no idea which route to go. Green or no green. Protein dip or baked goods? Cookies or muffins? Eeeekkk. I’ll take any suggestions.

That is the single most inspirational book I’ve ever read. For what it’s worth, I have NO doubts that you can move mountains!

P.S. Is it wrong that I want to get that wine even though it’s not the best because I love the bottle?

Always go for the sweet stuff in a contest with no parameters! People love their treats! The easier, the better too!

Tony was asked just yesterday if he ever planned to move to LA…that was pretty funny since I’m pretty sure he would do well there work wise, but it’s not our lifestyle at all. San Diego is amazing though. I’ve been there twice for work with Tony, but never to just to see it. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a visit this year though! I want to come longer than a weekend though.

Trust me, I feel you on this whole life changing thing. No, it’s not loaded with money or extra time or glamour, but it is loaded with possibility and hope and passion. Tony and I have a motto, “keep your eye on the prize”. This definitely helps us stay focused and keep going. Keep your chin up and just take every minute of every day one step at a time. This is my new way of looking at things. Otherwise I become a massive ball of stress and that does not one any good. I hope you get some time to rest and enjoy the weekend. xoxo

Oh, how’s the tummy doing? Feeling any better?

Hi Sarena! Tummy is okay. Still having trouble which makes me think it’s probably not the dairy thing. I don’t eat that much dairy anyway. It might be almonds. Would that be weird? Or certain types of wheat? Hmm…
I like that saying “keep your eye on the prize”. :)
Thanks for the recipe help suggestion. Got it. Swett and easy. he he. Now I need to play around a bit.
Hope you’re having a great weekend and get some time to get your nails done. He he!

Yum that dinner looks delicious, looks a lot like what we have been eating lately.

I totally get you on feeling a little “off”. You made a big decision and you are following your heart which can sometimes me a little unnerving. You will figure it out though, I can see through your blog how much you have on your plate and being a mom of 3 boys ages 4 and under myself I know how much time just playing the mom -card takes. You are an inspiration!

I am loving all your videos lately, both the fitness and recipe ones. Those boys are so cute! I can tell you have so much fun with them and love them like crazy. Enjoy your weekend!

Carolyn- Holy nice comment that just made my morning. :) Thanks. Whoa- you have 3 boys under the age of 4? I bet you have your hands FULL!!!! :) The “mom card” does take a lot of time and I need to make sure it’s my first priority. I get so worried about the future sometimes that I forget that. Hope you’re having a great weekend and enjoying some time with your boys!

These are super funny pictures! Looks like you are using those sweet potatoes from Costco! I never slice mine so thin, I’m going to try that next time. That book is a no-fail to make adults cry. Have a great weekend. You could totally put any of your cookie dough dips on half of a cooked sweet potato. Yummmmmy.

Oh… cookie dough dip on a sweet potato? Genius. All the picutres made me laugh too. Flat Kitty is just one funny dude. He he. The sweet potato slices come out so yummy and crunchy when they’re that thin. I love it! :)

LOVE the picture of FK and Barbie! They are such lovers ;) Bahahaha!

That book made me tear up a little too. That Dr. Seuss, he really was a genius…

For something gluten free, I highly recommend using some almond flour. It makes baked goods super delicious!!!

    Have a good weekend!

I know. That picture is just darn awesome. I need to get my hands on some almond flour and some of that teff flour you had on your blog. Was that it? I need to find it. Hope you’re having a great weekend and that Crosby and Flat Kitty are still getting along. Loved those pictures.

      • Yup! Teff! Make sure to get the flour instead of the whole grains though if you want to bake. I bought the wrong thing and apparently since the grains are so small, it’s hard to grind the flour yourself… oh well, at least I’ve learned I like the Teff as an oatmeal like meal!! And Flat Kitty and Crosby are currently hard at work on a house project… hopefully no one gets hurt :S

Flat Kitty gets around! I’m sure your big decision was the right one! You must have put a lot of thought into it and went with your gut feeling… as women, our gut feeling/natural instinct is usually always right!

He does, doesn’t he? I wish I could just go with my gut feeling instead of second guess myself all the time. Darn indecisiveness. Hope you’re having a great weekend Kerry.

wahoo!! LOVE that Dr. Seuss book!! Inspiring and educational all at the same time.

Kitty’s lucky I didn’t subject him to our weather – I think the vast amount of snow we have would have been a shock to his system. Unless I get around to making him a coat :)

I just got to read this because I have your blog sent to my work email, but I just wanted to say….Thank you for the reminder! We all can move mountains! I’m personally going through a little bit of self doubt and I read your blog and I got a little teared up. I’m getting ready to certify to teach aerobic dance(zumba) and I’m nervous about a whole slew of things with it. Like…Will I be easy to follow, Will I totally suck?, Will I choke and mess it all up?, you know? I don’t know if you ever have felt that way, but I sure do. I’ve never taught anything except children’s sunday school at our church. So thank you, for the great reminder, we ALL can move mountains. I plan on moving a whole range!

      STUFT Mama says:

Cheryl- I alway tell myself that being nervous and scared is all part of the process. I’m sure you’ll be great as a zumba instructor. GREAT!! And you will totally move a whole range of mountains. I have totally felt that was about being nervous. In fact I feel that way a lot. Thinking about you! When is your certification?

      • Cheryl D. says:

April 6th-Good Friday-is when I get certified. I have to go out of state to do it-Utah. The cert classes are booked out here and if I don’t do it soon, I’ll talk myself out of it. Thank you for the encouragement, it means a lot. This is way out of the box for this payroll accountant, wife, and mom , but that’s what life’s about, right? Being a little uncomfortable is what makes us grow as people:) I don’t know how you teach 6 classes in one day, but it’s amazing.
