Tips, a Trick and a Breakfast Treat

Hello. Hello.

I feel like I’ve been missing the last few days. “My boyfriend” was sick Wednesday so our workout shoot got cancelled. Instead I’ve been buried in this room. Man I have my work cut put for me.

I’ve also been working a lot on STUFT Fitness stuff and trying to fix up the website a bit. For someone who knows nothing about technology, making a website look good takes a long time. Ugh.

1. Stick with what you know and love.

That’s right. After all that time the other night, I returned that new machine (to a different Bed, Bath and Beyond of course- I couldn’t face the same sales people I bugged for hours). I exchanged it for the exact Tassimo model I previously had. Why mess with a good thing, right?

I didn’t need to spend that extra money for the fancy shmancy new Keurig. Who did I think I was?

The best part was with my 20% off coupon I actually got $90 back and two new packs of T-discs. What a deal. I also registered my new machine and have two more free packs coming in the mail. Score.

Now that’s what I’m talking about.

2. Do not go to Costco at 6:30 pm on a Wednesday night (after returning the coffee brewer) with toddlers expecting samples. The whole sample bit must be a day time thing. It wasn’t pretty friends.

3. Ask for a little help around the house.

I really wish I had more help around the house, but I’m sure the day will come, right? For now these guys like to help out by feeding Turk in the morning. Every little bit helps I guess.

Someone is a little more “helpful” than someone else.

4. It’s a good idea to lock the car doors when driving. The other morning on the way to Strollerwise Joaquin decided to open his door. Um…. hello? That was a bit scary.

5. When you’re short on time and can’t decide what to make the kiddos for lunch, just give them a little of everything.

(Trader Joe’s veggie corn dog, Morningstar Farms veggie burger and a Flatout Foldit quesadilla.)

6. Don’t expect to save this Soy Delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter frozen dessert for a special occasion. I had a “special occasion” three nights in a row.

7. Don’t let a race sneak up on you without much training. Um, yes, that’s right. I have the San Diego Half Marathon this Sunday that kind of snuck up on me. Yikes. I probably should’ve saved that So Delicious for afterwards. Ha! Oh well. Due to all my tummy trouble lately, I definitely won’t be going for a PR.

I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I can pretty much wrap anything up in a Flatout. Watch this.

Impressive right?

Inside the wrap- roasted Trader Joe’s tempeh with some bbq sauce, Marie Sharps hot sauce, avocado, broccoli slaw and lettuce.

Breakfast Treat

Although I’ve been eating this sweet potato breakfast scramble a lot lately,

I decided to change it up with this sweet breakfast sandwich.

Hey look, even the cute cat on my plate wanted some.

I’ve been craving the not the norm breakfast sandwich lately, but because I’m not eating dairy I needed something similar. I also needed it to be sweet to go with my mocha (you know, with the Tassimo).

So I cut out the cheese, made the eggs sweet (like French Toast) and had myself a delicious little breakfast.

Sweet Treat Breakfast Sandwich

1/2 cup egg substitute

1  sweetener packet

splash of vanilla

sugar free jam

sandwich thin or bread of choice

I combined the egg substitute with a Splenda packet, cinnamon and vanilla and cooked it up in my coolio egg maker.

Put my sweet eggs on one half of a sandwich thin and sugar free strawberry jam on the other.

And created this little beauty.

Good stuff.

Less than 5 minutes to make. Less that 200 calories. More than just your average breakfast sandwich.

Here’s a couple of worthwhile reads before I go.

Since my Gluten Free Balls post got me thinking more about gluten free eating, I found this article on the Mayo Clinic website pretty helpful as to what is and isn’t allowed on a gluten free diet.

Also, Fila shared this link on Facebook that I thought was pretty helpful for those days when you’re not well rested (goodness knows I have my fair share of them).

Have a good one.

Totally random question, but if you had the following shows on you DVR (hypothetically of course), which one would you watch first?

The Biggest Loser

The Bachelor

Bethany Ever After

Jersey Shore

Good luck Sunday! You will do great! I have one week until LA Marathon! I’m getting excited that it is finally here! Also, we are taking a family trip to San Diego at the beginning of April. Any suggestions of toddler friendly things to do?

  11. 11

Reading this post with my stomach growling was a mistake–everything looks delicious!
    p.s. I’d watch The Biggest Loser first : )

Oh my gosh – I can’t believe Joaquin opened the car door, I would have had a heart attack. I guess there is a reason for those annoying child locks on cars.

The chocolate peanut butter yumminess can still be a reward after you finish your half marathon, sounds delicious! 😉 Just take it nice and easy on yourself Sunday, you know you can run 13.1 miles – have fun with it. Maybe you should wear a costume (I’m looking for a tutu for my race next weekend) to remind yourself it’s about having fun this time – not fast. 🙂

All of your eats look great! The boys are too cute. I’ve never had sweet eggs and they sound great. I would watch Bethenny Ever After first, that’s a no brainer for me!

  15. 15

I love that you made your breakfast sandwich sweet to go with your mocha. I’m the exact same way, I can’t drink coffee with something savory, it just doesn’t work 🙂

Biggest Loser then Jersey Shore – Yea, buddy!
I’ve never watched the other two but if America’s Top Model was in the list that would definitely be number 1!

The Bachelor- to watch courtney “cry and apologize” and then Biggest Loser. I seriously can’t wait for the drama to hit the fan on Monday with Ben and courtney! I have this feeling he will propose to her and their drama filled break up will make jake and vienna look like a fairy tale.

Your little guys are so cute! Thanks for the tip about the doors. I could totally see my 2 monkeys doing something like that since they have just found out about the door locks!

I’d watch Bethany Ever After first. I love her dry sense of humor!

Good luck on your 1/2! You’ll rock it!

We tend to get to costco too early on Saturday mornings, also before samples are out. We end up dodging the floor cleaning machine instead.

I would go with Biggest Loser since our boyfriend and all. I swear you can tell which one of your boys is rotten and which one isn’t. You can tell with mine too. They wear trouble all over their faces. Cute, but you can tell. Good luck this weekend. I know you’ll do great. Oh and I can never seem to save So Delicious for “special occasions”, having it in my freezer is a special occasion!

    Have a great weekend friend!
