Happy Saint Patrick’s Day friends!
I thought about doing a post that has all my green recipes all in one place, but then I figured that you see enough green on here that I might not need to do that. Pretty much half of my breakfasts on my breakfast recipe page are green. You can check them out here.
So I have a little something else for you.
Three moves to give you some “Shamrocking Shoulders”.
(I thought I was really cool when that title came to me this morning.)
Here’s the video of the three moves. You can do them on their own or add the lower body moves to burn some extra calories.
Video notes:
– Pretend I’m wearing a green shirt for St. Patrick’s day.
– Please ignore my weenis. My pants are not flattering at all.
– Please also ignore all the commotion by the boys. They’re busy with recycling and dirty dog water.
Our parrot Pat obviously likes the last move.
Here’s the workout.
And, well, I don’t want to leave you hanging without a green recipe so here’s a version of my green microwave muffin that I never got around to sharing last month. I think it’s about time to revisit these amazing muffins, yes?
Queen Quinoa Green Muffin
serves 1
1/4-1/2 cup egg substitute (I use 1/2)
handful fresh spinach
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons coconut flour
1 tablespoon quinoa
1 tablespoon chia (optional)
1-2 tablespoons oats (optional)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon pumpkin spice
pinch of ground cloves (optional)
2 sweetener packets
1-2 tablespoons nondairy milk (if needed)
Blend together spinach and egg whites. (I use the Magic Bullet.)
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
Pour in a mug sprayed with cooking spray.
Microwave for 3-5 minutes.
Yep. Yum.
Have a good one!
I’m off to teach boot camp and then present at a fitness conference. Big day!

i always love your green creations. i made green protein pancakes this morning for st. patty’s day! i thought you’d be proud. 🙂
Oh Ashley- I’m so proud! 🙂 I really wish we could eat them together. ha ha!
I’m off to the gym to do shoulders this morning, coincidentally…so I just added your triple set to my workout card. Thanks! And happy St. Patty’s Day!
Now YOU have some seriously “Shamrocking” shoulders!!!! 🙂 Workout card? That sounds handy. 🙂
Hello! Just wondering..do you always have a bend in your arms when you do shoulder exercises? I thought so too and I was just told to keep them straight? Thanks!! Happy St. Patty’s Day!
Melanie- You should have a slight bend so you don’t hyperextend your elbows. 🙂 Actually if you’re doing lateral raises, if you bend your elbows more it will make it a bit easier. Hope you had a Happy St. Patty’s Day too!!!! 🙂
So this recipe is something where you could totally use quinoa flakes, although obviously regular quinoa works too 🙂 Loooove the microwave muffins.
Woohoo, shoulder stuff 😉
Oh…… I made need to invest in those since the no gluten thing seems to be working for Judah. 🙂 I totally thought of you with this muffin. I should name it after you. 🙂 Hope you’re having a good weekend!
My 10k went awesome! I’m excited to workout with y’all next week!
Boot Camp rocks! Join us people!!
Quick question. Do you know what temp and how long I’d need to cook that muffin
In a regular ole oven? I really try to avoid the micro, to be totally honest.
Amie- Congrats on your 10K. Yay!!! I hope you celebrated! In the oven I would do 375 for 20-25 minutes. It doesn’t quite rise that much, but iti tastes great and the edges get toasty and yummy. Let me know if you try it!
I started St. Patty’s Day with a Spinach and Blueberry Cake Muffin before yoga. Today also happens to be my birthday so I’ll be consuming chocolate peanut butter cake later. Spinach, blueberries, chocolate and PB – all of my favorite things!
Good luck at your conference!
Spinach and blueberry cake muffin? Um… YUM!!!!!!!!!!! And… Happy Belated Birthday Angela! And… those are all my favorite things too!
So, if I do these moves, will you guarantee my shoulders will look like yours someday? 🙂 I loved hearing your parrot in the background. Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you too!
Ha ha! That would be cool if certain moves could guarantee results. And yeah, Pat is quiet the singer and whistler (he’s good for self esteem). 🙂
There is never, even enough green! 🙂
Agreed!
I love shoulder training – or else I used to at least. Seems like I hit a bit of a plateau 🙁 It sucks.
Great muffins, hun 🙂 I will be posting mine inspired by YOU tomorrow 🙂 xo
I found you in the spam! 🙂 I unspammed you! 🙂
Nice moves! I LOVE working shoulders. Mine are wide, so I like adding the moves to round them out. I hope the conference went well and that you’re enjoy some rest time this weekend!
I want shoulders like yours so I’ll definitely add these. Thanks for the demo!
BTW – The Trader Joe’s brown rice gluten free bread is really tasty! I’m glad gluten free is helping Judah… and hopefully non-dairy is helping you. 🙂
Erin- I haven’t tried that bread. Thanks for the recommendation. I did buy some Udi’s bread though that the boys are really liking. Hope you had a good weekend!
i want this muffin now and YOUR SHOULDER MUSCLES! DANG!
I just tweeted about this Yummy giveaway! 🙂
PS: I’m making a green microwave muffing this afternoon for lunch! I’ve been craving these delicious muffins on a regular basis. Love them! Happy Monday and thanks for the awesome giveaway!
