“Barely” There- A Giveaway


Oh man. Um, can I just say that I have my work cut out for me with the whole tax situation? I promise I won’t talk about it again until it’s done (and I’m throwing a party), but holy cow do I have a mess.

Anyway….. I really do have an amazing giveaway for you all as I said in my last post, but because some other things have thrown me for a loop (as usual), it’s being pushed back one more day (or two).

I still have a giveaway today for you, but the next one I have lined up is a biggie.

In fact, I have a giveaway pretty much every day this week. That is just darn exciting isn’t it?

while I was locked up in my office trying to locate all my piles of tax stuff, I found some extra coupons leftover from our half marathon for Amelia for $1 off a jar of SunButter.

So, since I feel like I need to redeem myself a bit I’m giving five more winners these coupons. I know, I’m nice like that.

So, let me tell you about yesterday (since I’m sure you want to know).

It started out pretty well with a 6.5 mile run on the treadmill before the boys got up (Netflix DVD of choice was Midnight in Paris). The rest of the day didn’t quite go as planned though.

Here are some not so smart things I did:

I had to recover a bit from my Saturday night decision to eat some cheese sandwiches for dinner (with my roasted broccoli slaw) and a big frozen yogurt for dessert after not having dairy for over three weeks.

Yeah, not the best idea.

I also had to deal with a little situation because of my brilliant decision to let Judah have half of a Flatout quesadilla for dinner Saturday night instead of his gluten free diet he’s been on for 3 weeks.

Really not the best idea. Oh man. You all are lucky you weren’t around our house today (or in Jimbo’s around noon because Judah pretty much cleared out the place). Too much?


In addition, poor Kitty is really sick. I’ll save all the details (and the things I’ve had to clean up), but things are not good friends. Really not good. I’m hoping I can get him into the vet first thing in the morning.

On the bright side of things, my idea to roast some polenta and chicken with my roasted broccoli slaw was a mighty good one for dinner last night.


Covering it with marinara and lots of crushed red pepper wasn’t too shabby either.

I have a little something for you today.

I was send this bag of organic, bake-dried cinnamon apple chips from Bare Fruit to review the other week.


We’ve had these before from Costco, but they were better than I remember. They are pretty darn good with some impressive nutritional stats (58 calories per 24 gram serving). You can find out more information on the Bare Fruit Snacks website and drool over all the other flavors they have (like cherries, pears and mangos) while you’re there.

We gobbled our cinnamon apple ones down the other day.


They make the perfect on the go snack for the toddlers or adults and can be safely consumed while driving (a toddler truck or “messy mom car”).

I thought I’d just be able to have a couple to sample.


I was wrong. The few individual chips I planned on “sampling” turned into one two of these bowls.


Obviously I loved them.

What’s not to love about a healthy, crunchy snack with only two ingredients (organic apples, organic cinnamon)?

And… they’re gluten free so all is good here.


What can I say. We love food and rarely turn down an opportunity to try some for free. (Why yes, I am that girl at the end of a race that tries to hoard as many free samples as possible.) Sampling and reviewing products is even better though when we can give away a whole case to a lucky STUFT reader.

That’s right- a whole case.

    Awww sorry about the dairy and gluten:-( Makes me think more and more I should give up ice cream…but I just can’t bring myself to do it yet.

    My goal for the month is to not stress over my marathon and just run it for fun AND spend all the extra time during my taper w/my darling 2 year old.

    You inspired me to buy broccoli slaw! I haven’t roasted it yet, but it was amazing on a salad last night with cumin and juice form an empty jar of spicy pickled green beans.

    Ugh that is so frusterating for both you and Judah! Have you always had stomach troubles before? Good luck on those taxes, that is NO fun. My kids love that snacks but they are so expensive at our grocery store I usually only buy them on occasion. April goals spend more time outside playing with my kids. It’s the simple things right:). Now if our Washington weather would just cooperate!

    My goal for this month is to get through this week with my Mom visiting from NY without gaining a ton of weight (that is a month of a goal all in one week – I will be proud if I do it) and continuing to make all my workouts… When people visit a town like San Diego it is really time consuming trying to show them all the great stuff this place has to offer – that I totally take for granted!! But that all in addition to “Mom duties”, working out, dogs, and life in general is tough on this narcoleptic (stay safe on the roads as I sleepily drive all over showing the sites).     I’m so right there with you on the taxes…. that is one of my goals for this month! well for this week actually– to do my taxes!!!

    My other goal(s) to to hit the gym BEFORE work 4 times a week and STOP counting calories. I tend to get a little obsessive about things but I’m now on the lower end of my healthy weight and I need to worry more about adding muscle and being healthy than worrying about how many calories I consume everyday.

    I started trying to lose a few lbs by cutting out processed foods (mostly) and exercising more to get my body ready to have a bab…. like i said I’m a little obsessive tho and it is getting a liiiiiittttle bit out of hand! 🙂

    I’m so psyched for this giveaway! I love bare fruit!! I could live on the stuff.

    One of my goals is to train for a 10k which is in the beginning of May. My longest run to date has been 4 miles, but I’m sure I can do it with a little more training. I’ve never been much of a runner, but lately I’ve really been getting into it. I’m even considering a half marathon in October. I also want to get my health under control this month and I am definitely on track for that. 🙂

    I’m so sorry you had such a bad reaction to dairy. Sometimes I get so frustrated with my food allergies/sensitivities and go off the deep end – which I did this weekend. Hello, Cheesecake Factory cheesecake for which I am now paying the price.
