A Proper Introduction to “Fran”

A Proper Introduction to “Fran”

Yes. That’s right. I believe I had the best first introduction to a thing called “Fran” a girl could get.

Fran is a CrossFit introductory workout. I don’t quite understand the whole CrossFit terminology yet, but after yesterday I can’t wait to learn more.

Yesterday was a big day for me. Not only did this picture get posted on Facebook, but I also got a little retweet.

Yes, I know you’re probably definitely over hearing about “my boyfriend” and My Trainer Bob and how excited I am every time I get to go up to LA to tape a workout video for his new online club. I get it.

But…. remember in this post when I said it would be my dream to get a one on one with Bob?

Well, I got it.

Not only did I get to tape a Team Bob group session workout, but I also got to tape a one on one Living Fit segment. Actually, it was a two on one and my friend Nadya got to tape with us. Then I got a little bonus workout afterwards.

I’ll just give you a brief recap of the day, okay?

I ate my most recent daily breakfast (on sandwich bread this time) on the way in the car. Let me just say that this breakfast sandwich is not the easiest to eat on the road.

When I got there they were filming his kitchen segment.

I hung out, tried to figure out how I could get behind that counter with him and make some green muffins, tried to act cool, you know. (It’s cool to take blurry pictures of yourself with Bob in the background isn’t it?)

Look, the man wants me to be there with him. That face is just asking for some protein cookie dough.

Ha ha ha.

Then it was my turn.

New workout. New gym.

We went over the workout first. I needed a little coaching since I’d never done the CrossFit thing before.

I look excited, yes? Really Kristin, what is that face?

Hey look, there’s his dog Karl. Good old Karl is there at every shoot.

I had to take a before picture (you know, with my new shirt and all). And yes, I am wearing a mic. Cool huh? I wanted to get a picture before I got all sweaty, but the charmer that I am spilled water all down my top right before we took the picture. Classy.

Still frame worthy though, right?

Then we did the actual taping.

Another great face. I should really work on my camera face.

After we taped the Living Fit segment, Bob decided to see just how much I could do. He put me through a shortened version of Fran with some added weight. I think the barbell I was lifting was 55 pounds. I can’t quite remember, I could barely breath.

I survived though (and managed to weasel my way into another “after” picture).

Then after a quick top change and inhaling a banana we taped the Team Bob workout.

Dang it. I should’ve been sucking in my mummy tummy. Beavis.

Here are some random notes/things I learned from the day:

– If I give myself 3 hours to get to the studio I can actually be there on time.

– Bob likes jalapeños on his sandwiches.

– Bob finally knows my name.

– I really need to work on my hip thrust for these CrossFit workouts.

– I now know what “Fran” is when people talk about it.

Okay, was that enough pictures or do you want just one more?

I thought I heard you say “yes”.

That’s our Team Bob crew.

All of these videos are for Bob’s new online club. You can sign up for it here:

When you join you get daily videos (healthy lifestyle tips, workouts, recipes, etc.), a recipe guide, fitness journal and access to message boards. Pretty darn cool.

After over 3 hours in the car on the way home I got to come home to my boys and STUFT Daddy.

And…. after everyone else was in bed I got to cuddle with a certain someone who got to come home yesterday also.

Oh Kitty. I guess he has an infection of some sort. He’s doing better and eating again, but still not himself.  Poor guy.

I wasn’t the only one excited to see him home. Nala had really missed her buddy too.

We I did a little celebrating the only way I know how:

with my favorite wine, roasted broccoli slaw (with marinara and chicken) and kale chips

while watching one of my favorite celebrities

and finishing things off with a chocolate protein microwave muffin with not one, but two Trader Joe’s soy creamy sandwiches.

Mmmmmm hmmmmm.

Oh….. and…. thanks to random.org the winner of the case of Bare Fruit snacks is:

Yay! Krystle, I hope these snacks will help fuel your last month of the school year. Email your address to me at stuftmama@stuftfitness.com and I’ll get it to our friends at Bare Fruits.

A huge thank you to all of you for reading and letting me go on and on about Bob and my adventures.

A huge thank you to STUFT Daddy and my amazing family for letting me make these long trips to LA to film these workouts.

A huge thank you to Bob Harper for becoming one of my best friends.

(I’m sure the feeling is mutual.)

And a huge thank you to all my friends at Watch It Now Entertainment for letting me be a part of BobHarper.com. I hope this is just the beginning of amazing things to come.

I started doing Crossfit the beginning of January, and have experienced the Fran workout!!! It’s a killer! They are all tough workouts though as far as I’m concerned, but you feel so great afterward, and the body transformation is definitely worth it. I don’t think I could do it in front of a camera, nice work!!

BADASS!! I would be excited and talk about hanging out with Bob too- I’m just saying I would love to have him personally kick my butt in some training! Plus he’s pretty nice to look at.. I’m just sayin 🙂 This whole Crossfit thing is something that I’ve been thinking about for a while now- I really want to give it a try, but its pretty pricey around here. Since I don’t have a real job I might have to beg them to let me join in and pay in cleaning something.. Hmm.. Glad Kitty is back- hopefully on the journey to better health!

Well, well, well. You had a wonderful day it looks like – I hope it makes up for some of those stressful Mom Days we Moms are blessed with sometimes! And your celeb picture – let’s just say that is not the best on camera face heehee. I love your new top and you are inspiring…. Bob should sign you on as his all time sidekick! Hope to see you tonight, but I am hanging on by a thread this week- running on almost empty. Next week will be great as I should hopefully make all my workouts!
I need more coffee! (I am only on my third cup in my first hour of being awake today – like I said, running on almost empty this week).

I’m jealous you did a Crossfit workout! I want to try it but I don’t know anyone that does it. As soon as I meet someone who does I’ll just demand “TAKE ME!” 😉

Wow “Fran” looks intense!! This was such a fun post, you look great and I love your new workout top. Is that lululemon? I also love me some Bethenny, even though she is totally inappropriate and crass I really like her attitude and how hard she has worked, she cracks me up!

So I made your roasted broccolli slaw tonight, we had bbq chicken and i served it with that as a side, my husband and I LOVED it!! What a great idea, we both really like roasted veggies and this was a great new addition. It was a perfect complement to the chicken. That will become a more regular meal around here, especially because its so easy and quick to make.

Hope you have a Happy Easter, I just happened to go back and read your Easter post from last year, your boys have grown up so much!

    Take care,

Oh and you should submit an application for the Hood to Coast team for NUUN. Have you heard of it? I would love one of my favorite running bloggers to make it!! It starts at Mt. Hood and ends at the beach in Seaside, Oregon. It’s no California weather wise but its beautiful!!
