Burning Abs

Burning Abs

I have a problem.

I burn things.

Not just occasionally either. I burn things pretty much on a daily basis.

Just now in fact, as I was trying to get this post together I burned my espresso.

I didn’t even know that was possible. That should be fun to clean, yes?

Yesterday for lunch I got lucky and only slightly burned my kale chips.

Here’s what I used to spice them up (just in case you want to know).

They were accompanied by a ginormous turkey sandwich wrap which had this new Costco find in it (again, just in case you want to know).

Then last night I really burned my roasted sweet potatoes.

I was so upset and tired that when STUFT Daddy tried to make a joke I couldn’t even laugh. In fact I’m pretty sure I bit his head off. Sorry STUFT Daddy. However, I’m never too upset to take a few pictures.

Not only do I burn things, but 99% of the time I’m so mad and tired that I eat it anyway.

This sweet potato mess and roasted broccoli slaw with tempeh needed some serious doctoring up. I used some low fat ranch and TATS BBQ sauce.

(That was me last night eating my burnt mess while watching Dancing with the Stars at 10 pm).

I attempted to get that burnt taste out of my mouth with this sweet quinoa dessert.

In the bowl- cooked roasted quinoa (that I had frozen), a little soymilk, some PB2, a scoop of Nuttzo, a scoop of Artisana Cocoa Bliss, a little brown sugar and a couple Trader Joe’s unsweetened chocolate baking discs. (Could I put anything else in that bowl?)

Okay, enough of my burning problem. I don’t think it’s going away any time soon. I try to get too many things done in the time between when I put things in the oven and when I actually take them out. Maybe I should try using a timer- now there’s a thought.

Let’s talk abs.

Burning things isn’t my only problem. I also have a serious case of diastasis which I tell myself every week I’m going to work on, but life happens (so do taxes) and the weeks keep flying by. I have to be very careful with the abdominal moves that I do and I try to stay away from too much rotating and twisting.

Here are two moves I taped for you. They’re my current favorites that I keep using in my classes. The second move does entail some rotation, so if you have diastasis be very careful. I usually stick with just the first version myself.

Video notes:

I thought we needed a change of scenery.

It only takes about a minute for the boys to grab the camera.

I shouldn’t wear a hat and glasses when I tape videos. It seems like I’m trying to hide.

Abdominal Scissor Time

For those of you who need a little challenge, here you go.

If I’m going to see you at Strollerwise today, get ready for this. Ha!

I didn’t quite get my act together to get a video on for Tuesday Trainer this week (I was busy burning things), but you should really check out the core move workout Lindsay put together.

Okay friends. I’m out.

Oh wait. I have a Flat Kitty Friday theme for the week.

If you want to link up (or just play for fun), take a picture of Flat Kitty with your one of your favorite breakfasts.

Email your picture to stuftmama@stuftfitness.com or post it on my Facebook page and I’ll put it in Friday’s post.

Fun right?

Email me if you need want are willing to accept a Flat Kitty (if you don’t already have one that is).

He he!

Have a good one.

I burn stuff too… toast and kale chips are the biggest offenders. and frozen waffles when I make them in the oven on broil.

Yes, the timer is your friend!!! I don’t usually burn things because I’m hovering close by ready to devour them . . . yeah.

Love that ab move! I’m going to think about trying it. I just need someone to come over here to make me get my butt in gear and actually do it!!

I LOVE those ab moves. I am going to have to try them out. I have a real problem committing to doing ab work for some reason, but I perhaps adding some new moves will help me out 🙂

For some reason every single time I make my boys a grilled cheese sandwich I burn them. Every. Single. Time. Kale chips are tricky too.
I loved hearing your little ones saying “uh oh” behind the camera. 🙂 Too cute!

I already told you on FB that there are some things I have no problem burning and enjoying. Waffles are a great example of that. I burned potatoes last week that I was boiling for mashed potatoes. Do I really need to tell you how bad that smelled up the house? UGH, baked potatoes were the back up on that one. Yeah, it was that bad. Oh and the clean up was fun too! I hope you’re having a better day! xoxo

Ahhhh! I had a very similar experience with the video camera this morning. My “director” decided he had enough.

Don’t feel bad. I burn food all the time and still eat it. At least it’s not charred! Just slightly crispy. 🙂

Eh.. we all do it.. especially when we have a lot on our plates- trying to do the work of 3 people!! Sometimes the Char adds that depth of flavor thats just right anyway! 😉

I eat burnt food too. I can’t waste it, I paid for that! 🙂
That was the cutest video…”Uh oh!”

I’m the same way when I burn things! It makes me so mad (and I’m so stubborn) that I just eat it anyway!

  12. 12

Hmmm..Wishing I knew where my Flat Kitty was!! Can you photoshop him in a picture of us on our roadtrip??

  13. 13

I burn food all the time. I am usually so upset that I want to throw it out but my husband is the more level headed one and will happily eat it anyway =)

  14. 14

I’m notorious for burning beans on the stove (the dry kind you have to cook) and now my husband always makes sure I set a timer. Burnt sweet potatoes kind of tatse like roasted marshmallows to me 🙂

Oh… you’re right. They do taste a little like roasted marshmallows. I’ll try to pull that one off on the boys. 🙂 You look GREAT by the way lady in your pictures! Awesome job on your race!

I seriously burn things ALL the time! Like everyday at least one thing comes out of my oven burnt! Oh well, I’m a little weird and actually like things pretty brown in colour. These ab moves rock, but you rock more 🙂 Have a great day my friend!
