We took a family trip down to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon expo last night.
It took a little convincing and a promised Starbucks stop, but
STUFT Daddy and the boys came along for the fun.
I got my favorite Starbucks drink, STUFT Daddy got the regular mocha frap and the boys got Trader Joe’s apple juice from my bag that I pretended I got from Starbucks.
I know, smart huh?
I knew the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon expo would be pretty big since this is the biggest race I’ve run yet. It was held at the San Diego Convention Center (which means it’s big time).
Holy Moly.
Luckily for me we got there at about 6 pm Friday night so it wasn’t too crowded.
Luckily for STUFT Daddy the expo closed at 7 pm so I wouldn’t be able to torture him for more than an hour with my picture taking, free sample hunting and chatting up new friends.
Don’t they look excited?
After I grabbed my swag bag
it was time to utilize my photographer (who’s compensation was that Starbucks stop).
It was his bright idea for this picture placement.
Real mature.
I had to take another one for my friends over at Competitor.com so they’re not embarrassed by me or anything and will let me race again.
Although I did bring some cash and they had a lot of cute clothes and gear
these guys made sure I bypassed this stuff I didn’t “need”.
Fine.
Good thing that taking a picture with this cool background was free because it was definitely a “need”.
The boys aren’t going to the race tomorrow, so at least we got to pretend.
Once inside the vender part of the expo hall, the boys found the Sharpies (Joaquin loves his Sharpies)
while I found my favorite GU.
I already have way more GU than I need at home so I refrained from buying any more. I did buy a tube of their new GU Brew electrolyte drink tablets though for $5.
It seems like the same thing as Nuun tablets, so I’m going to put them to the taste test.
I also had to pose by my good friend Anton.
Actually, we’ve never met and he doesn’t even know I exist, but hey, whatever.
My men (who are good at pretending I don’t exist sometimes) ditched me pretty quickly when they saw how annoying I can be trying to get free samples and make new friends.
While the men went who knows where, I found some Starkist tuna
FRS
Larabars
and some really cool sparkly Glam Headbands.
I chatted up the nice owner and she gave me a headband to try out. I chose a black one and have since managed to lose her business card somewhere in my swag bag (because I am that cool). Nice. More on the cool headband to come later.
After bypassing yet another shirt I wanted to buy,
I met up with the men getting some free Biggest Loser samples.
What do you naturally want to do after you cow down on samples?
That’s right. Stand on the huge Biggest Loser scale.
Too bad my best friend Bob wasn’t with us. I guess he already saw enough of me earlier this week.
When it was getting close to closing time STUFT Daddy made sure I made it to get my free $10 PF Chang’s card. He scoped that booth out pretty quick.
We also walked by the Maui Jim sunglasses stand.
Oh Maui Jim……. back in the day Andrew and I both had awesome Maui Jims. Now we have expensive toddler twins and cheap scratched up sunglasses.
That’s life.
The expo closed before I made it to a few places like the Snickers Marathon booth.
Beavis. I hate missing out on samples.
I’m sure STUFT Daddy could’ve hung out with me at the expo all night
but we were shooed out at 7 pm. Yeah, he was upset about it.
I attempted to make one last stop at the egg white booth,
but these guys weren’t having it.
Probably a good thing since I may just have ordered a huge jug (or 2) of egg whites to get shipped to our house. I could make some serious breakfast STUFTwiches with this stuff.
We called it a night while we I was still smiling.
Good expo times.
See, everyone survived and I’m proud to say that I only spent $5.
We reminisced a little about some fun times we’ve had downtown.
We even passed by the stairs we ran on our San Diego date night last summer.
After it took us a little while to find our car,
we made it home for some dinner.
We were too tired to cook so it was Trader Joe’s Pizza Parlanno (with jalapeños) for STUFT Daddy
roasted zucchini and roasted broccoli slaw with chicken and cheese less sandwiches for me.
Andrew said I burned these. Silly guy. Those aren’t even burned. You’d think he’d know about my problem burning things by now.
Plus, burned veggies are nothing a little Scotty B’s, BBQ sauce and some jalapeños can’t fix.
I toned down the fire in my mouth with two Triple Chocolate Vitatops with 30 calorie dark chocolate frosting and a scoop of PB Crave Razzle Dazzle in between
and some frozen frosting with a little of this ice cream. (I promise I’ll get that post up next week.)
That’s right. It was Friday night and I’m trying to carb up.
Ha ha.
I have more to say and show you, but I’m sure you’ve had enough and I really need to try to rest up a bit.
Hope you’re having a good weekend!
See you on the other side friends!

So fun! I love these pictures of your husband; he’s always so stoned face. Does he play poker? lol
Rest up and get plenty of red pepper flakes into your system for a PR 😉
He should play poker shouldn’t he? He’s the most sarcastic person ever too.
That expo looks like lots of fun.
I wish you luck and fun for tomorrow’s race. I hope you get the time you’re shooting for!
Thanks Joy! A little late responding to you, but thank you! It was a blast!
Looks lke an awesome expo. Though, you should have ditched your possie and taken me! I appreciate little lara bars:p.
I have to say your dessert looks positively scrumptious and I want to eat it out of my screen.
A huge good luck for the marathon! Can’t wait read & see about it:).
Xxx
Oh I have a feeling if I would’ve ditched them I would have spend a lot of money. Ha ha. And who doesn’t appreciate little tiny Larabars???? 🙂
Good luck! I’d love to run that race
Thanks Angie- it was a blast! You should definitely try to run a Rock ‘n’ Roll race someday. 🙂
Good luck tomorrow!!! You will rock it 😀
Looks like so much fun! I would have gladly walked around that expo with you the entire day…but we probably both would be flat broke. I’m an enabler. 😉
Good luck! Can’t wait to hear more about it!
Kristi- Oh man, yes ,walking aroud all day together at that expo would’ve bene dangerous. Ha ha. So much fun stuff there.
Kellogg’s makes GF brown rice crispy cereal. It’s good but I wouldn’t say it is better than Attune brand. However it is a little cheaper though.
I’ve never seen the Kellogg’s brand. Hmm…. I’ll keep an eye out for it. Is this comment on the right post? 🙂
LOL no- I couldn’t find your email address and just wanted you to know they exist. I always get excited when I find new GF items.
I’ve tried those tablets. I will say that they are super fizzy and it’s best to start letting them dissolve sooner rather than later. I can’t wait to hear how the race went!
I haven’t tried them yet. Thanks for the tip though Heather. 🙂
Good Luck today!!!!:)
My husband does that exact same look, maybe it’s the husband of a blogger look.
Getting twins to both look at the camera and stay still long enough for a picture with me is so hard!
Hope you had a great race today.
Yes, definitely the husband of a blogger look. Good thing there isn’t a voice recorder because the husband fo a blogger vocabulary in not appropriate sometimes. Ha!
Good luck with the race!
Looks like that expo was your mecca. 😉
Great photo of the 4 of you – I think that one is frame-worthy.
