Good morning.
Here’s just a quick peak at my hours after the marathon (if you care, or actually, even if you don’t). Ha.
I know a lot of distance runners swear by ice baths. I’ve never done one. I’m too much of a wimp to try it and I get cold super easily. I do the next best thing – take a warm shower and rub a little Biofreeze all over my legs.
I recently discovered this stuff and am in love with it. So much so that after I got a sample I hunted it down on Amazon (you can find it here).
Then I put on my CEP compression socks.
Want to see a cool trick?
Talent. I know.
I rocked this cool outfit the rest of the day.
Lovely bathroom picture. And yes, those sweat cut off shorts are very old, but they just might be making a comeback.
I usually like to go through all my bags and admire all the freebies I got my hands on.
Expo swag bag.
Awesome.
Hmm… haven’t tried this yet.
Other swag I stocked up on at the expo.
We were only given two, but Somehow a few extras found their way into my bag. I’ll be having a lot of this wrap in the near future. Ha.
This was the glam headband the nice lady gave me. I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve been wanting a cool sparkly headband for awhile.
The race shirt. The cute toddler “helping” me with the photo shoot.
His brother “helping” me by washing his hair in Turk’s water dish.
The goodies I got my hands on at the finish line.
That’s right, more tuna. That stuff is like over a $1 at the store so I had to stock up.
I made myself sit in bed for a couple hours and put my feet up Sunday afternoon while I wrote my recap post with another little “helper”
and a cocktail in hand.
Our celebration dinner looked a little something like this.
(yes, that glass is as big as it looks)
antipasto salad with some extra dried oregano, seasoning and red pepper flakes,
our favorite Filippi’s pizza (veggie pizza, no cheese, topped with nutritional yeast and a little red pepper).
This ice cream (yes, again) on top of a few Vitatops, some PB Crave, dark chocolate frosting, etc.
I slept in those compression socks and wore them all day Monday. I mean all day. I taught classes in them
(don’t mind my redder than red eye)
and even made a quick stop to Target while still sporting them at 8 pm.
Ha ha. I had them on for over 31 hours. That’s so gross.
But….. my legs are feeling pretty good this morning so I’ll take it.
Enough nonsense.
Let me give you a little something I whipped up yesterday.
I put this together in less than five minutes, but was so impressed with it I thought I’d share.
Peanutty Pumpkin Protein Dip
(makes 2 servings)
1 1/2 cup pumpkin (366 grams)
1/4 cup PB2 (24 grams)
1/4 cup Splenda granulated
1 tablespoon brown sugar (or 2 teaspoons brown sugar and 1 teaspoon sugar free maple syrup)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon chia
1/2-1 scoop vanilla protein powder (10-20 grams)
cinnamon (optional- I didn’t add it)
Mix it all up in a food processor just like chia cookie dough dip.
Put in a cute bowl.
Serve with Flatout cinnamon crisps
and fruit of choice.
If you want or need to (like I do), top with some fun nut butters (like PB Crave Razzle Dazzle or SunButter or both)
Dig in.
I can almost guarantee this dip will be repeated at some point today.
Mmmmm……
Okay, gotta go.
Have a great day!
Thanks so much for putting up with my novel of a race recap post. I’m going to try to keep things short this week so I don’t bore you!

That pumpkin dip looks freakin awesome!!!
I enjoy your re-cap posts 🙂 Happy Tuesday, Kristin!
And a Happy Wednesday to you Sara! 🙂
I love the race shirt! Way better than the ones we got from RNR St.Pete.
I wish all race shirts were cute and fitted. is it too much to ask? He he.
That dip…YUM! The thing I love most about you, besides your ability to rock out super cute compression socks and the fact that you are an inspiring fitness machine, is the fact that I could totally eat at your house and be in heaven! You totally get my love of protein puddings and quirky eats! Oh and I totally bought a huge thing of red pepper flakes at Costco Sunday and thought of you! I hope you’re having a great week!
I have got to restock my pb2 it’s been gone for a month, ug! I just want to make that dip though so I might just have to use real pb.
A whole month???? How are you surviving? 🙂
I haven’t been surviving! My husband banned me from buying all different nut butters constantly, boo.
I love your blog and have been stalking it for a while, so finally thought I would say Hi! I love your race recaps, and am super impressed with your swag collection! I do have a question for you; compression socks vs sleeves? What is your take? Do you like the foot part? Does it help with ankle soreness? I have sleeves, which I also wore for 30+ hours following my marathon… magic, I tell you, but I love the look of your socks (socks = less places for ankle fat to squish out… or ankle skin, whatever, it is squishy).
Hi Erin! I love blog stalkers. Ha! You know, I’ve never worn the sleeves although I imagine they might be better for during the summer and I do get annoyed that the sock part gets dirty when I’m just wearing them aroudn the house for recovery. But… if I’m wearing them with shoes I like the sock part. Hmm…. I couldn’t tell if it helped at all with ankle soreness. Maybe in the back? I’m not much help am I? 🙂 Thanks for saying “hi”. 🙂
I feel relieved you put up your feet for a few hours( good to know were able to get some relax time), and girl go wash those compression socks, haha :p.
Sweeet swag. I <3 tuna , so I'd have been all over those packs as well- they're so much more convenient than canned tuna!
Oy, my heart sinks a little when I see another FABULOUS pumpkin recipe- I can't get pumkin here*tears*. Seriously ,this dip looks delicious- with the cinnamon chips , bloobs and pb-it all just looks perfect:)!
Xxx
that is some awesome swag! So far I’ve done 3 races with expos but basically got nothing… that’s what I get for doing races that are in their first or second year… Hopefully the Chicago Marathon will have some serious swag!
I’m so making this when I get home! I’m loving the socks… 🙂 I think you look adorable in them!
Gotta love compression socks! Oh and Biofreeze…amazing! Will the protein dips ever stop? I hope not! Keep ’em coming!
You kill me. I laughed so hard at Flat Kitty in between your feet. Too much.
Hi! I’ve been reading your blog daily for about 6 months now, and I noticed that you have been maintaining a dairy free diet and that you have gluten intolerance. Anyway, I am also sensitive to dairy. I also am allergic to gluten, peanuts, and a bunch of other foods (they give me migraines). I thought that you might be interested in this , http://www.WholesomeChow.com/, they have amazing allergy friendly baking mixes.
pizza without the cheese is my favorite (don’t do or like cheese!) although, truth be told, i have been known to eat straight up pizza sauce with broccoli dippers … so i probably don’t even need the bread!
i do, however, need that protein pumpkin delicious concoction!
That pumpkin dip looks fabulous! I can honestly say all of my recipes this past month have contained pumpkin, obsessed I think! Haha I’m impressed you kept your socks on for that amount of time. At least your legs feel good!
That dip looks amazing.
If your Target is anything like the WA states ones people probably didn’t even notice.
I am not a distance runner but even after an extended hiking you aren’t getting me in anything ice cold. Too big of a wimp.
You aren’t boring me…I love your recap posts. 🙂
That dip looks good…I made your protein cookie dough for the first time recently and LOVED it!
I love race swag bags. The half marathon that I do in Appleton, WI is near the Kimberly Clark plant, so I’ve gotten diapers and wipes in mine LOL!
girl I LIVE for Biofreeze. I have the professional sizes in my bathroom, no joke. and if you ever come across the Biofreeze Wipes, get some!! when I first saw them I thought, meh… they sent me a sample and WOW, they are very powerful. my favorite method now.
I can do that with my ankles too! 😀
I just discovered it after I got a sample from a race. IN LOVE. They have wipes? I need to find some of those. 🙂 PS- flexible ankles rock. 🙂
do we care?? HECK YES.
we SO live vicariously up in herrrrre….
Yummm!! That dip looks SO good!! 🙂 I love your compression socks, too. Do they have any benefits for shin splints?
ps: I like the way you spell your name 😉
I like the way you spell yours too. Ha ha. Not sure about compression socks and shin splints. I’m a newbie whne it comes to compresson gear. 🙂 Might be worth looking into though.
