Oh Bob- Part 2

 

Here’s a few random snapshots before we get to the good stuff. I’m just nice like that.

 

Yesterday morning the boys were all excited about this new “boat ride” they discovered.

I was excited that they’re starting to really express their love for the Muppets.

They picked out the shirts for the day.

We celebrated all the excitement by making some green gobblin’ muffins.

I subbed in this Chobani Champions Vanilla Chocolate Chunk for the yogurt the recipe calls for.

Let’s just say they were a hit.

That was Judah’s 4th one. Yes, 4th. This guy knows how to eat. I taught him well.

I went for some green hooligan pancakes with SunButter and berries.

(In the pancakes- 1/2 cup egg whites, handful of spinach, 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk,  2 tablespoons coconut flour, 1/2 cup oats, 2 teaspoons chia, pinch of salt, almond extract, cinnamon, 1 Splenda packet.)

My iced perfect summer mocha wasn’t far away.

I feel like yesterday’s afternoon snack is worth mentioning too.

I made a couple variations of this protein dip.

It was kind of a combination of peanutty pumpkin protein dip and goo (minus the PB2).

Dip 1-

1/4 cup pumpkin

1/2 a serving of Vega vanilla chia protein powder

splash vanilla

cinnamon

pumpkin pie spice

1/2 sweetener packet

(topped with some Artisana walnut butter)

 

Dip 2-

1/4 cup pumpkin

1/2 serving Spiru-tein Cookies and Cream protein powder

splash vanilla

1/2 sweetener packet

(topped with PB Crave Cookie Nookie)

 

I served it up with some Flatout cinnamon crisps. Mmmmm hmmmm.

Yesterday’s workout (if you care). Since Wednesday’s workout was just the 20 minute workout with Bob (plus 5 hours of sitting on my butt driving) I added a short run to my usual Thursday classes.

– 5 miles on the treadmill in the morning

– step interval and group strength training class at the Y at night (teaching)

 

Okay, moving on.

Let me check my notes so I don’t forget anything.

Ha ha.

I mentioned I might try to whiten my teeth in the car on the way up. Well, after carefully avoiding spilling jelly on my outfit with my breakfast STUFTwich while driving

I went for it.

It was the same old routine when I got to the studio. There were five of us this time and we hung out for awhile before it was our turn to tape.

Yep. We were a lively bunch.

After about 45 minutes or so we went to the studio.

It always takes them a little while get the mats set up perfectly.

We taped our AMRAP (as many reps as possible) workout. We did two 6 minute AMRAP sets with a 1 minute break in between. It’s crazy how intense a short 6 minute workout can be. It was a lot of upper body work with snatches and kettlebell swings.

And it was over before I knew it.

After our short workout Bob decided to put my to a little CrossFit test. He told us about these crazy ladies that do a one arm snatch with a 75 pound weight. Um, no thanks.

He made me do it with a 35 pound one though. I’ve never actually been to CrossFit, although I totally want to try it. There is a lot of hip action in the CrossFit lifting and friends, my hips just don’t move like that. I have been told on more than one occasion that I am stiff and I look like I’m in pain when I dance. My hips don’t move and my back is tight. Always.

Anyhoo…

Here’s a little video of my lesson from Bob. Obviously I’m not a fast learner. He let me in on a little secret saying the CrossFit people say about the whole hip action and the barbell, but it’s not quite appropriate to repeat on the blog.

I did manage to do a couple better ones after we taped this. The power comes from the hips people, not puny arms. Yeah, he called my arms puny but only to get the point across about using the core to lift heavy weights.

Thanks for the lesson sir. My homework is to work on my hip action and Google CrossFit snatch tutorial.

It took me an hour to get back to the freeway. That’s about the time that I start thinking that driving all the way to LA for this was not the best idea.

As usual I passed a few Starbucks, but wouldn’t let myself stop.

I finally caved at this one when I had to stop for gas.

I spent $60 plus to fill up my car so decided to save a couple dollars and try a new drink instead of my favorite Starbucks drink.

Starbucks is expensive. In case you don’t know though, if you register a gift card you get free soy milk and free syrups. Do it now if you haven’t.

My boring unsweetened iced coffee with soy milk needed a couple Splenda packets, but did just the trick.

Not the best idea to have it at 5 pm, but you do what you’ve got to do to deal with traffic.

And hey, it only took me an hour to figure what was making all the noise on the side of my car the rest of the way home.

I’m so smart sometimes.

 

Okay friends, that’s it. Flat Kitty Friday will have to happen later.

Bob said it was okay. He and Flat Kitty go way back you know.

Right now I’ve got to get out the door for a run. STUFT Daddy and I made a deal. He got to watch the basketball game last night with his buddies and I get to go for a run this morning and hang out with Mom this afternoon. I better get a move on before he changes his mind.

    Looks like another fab day- but HARD, the workouts sound killah-please , lend me some of your energy and energy! I love how you just add a 5m run with your classes like it aint no thang*inspirational*.
    Ooh, I love the look of those protein-y dips. My country needs to get on the canned pumplkin ASAP, I feel like there’s a part missing from my life having never tried canned pumpkin:(

Haha, I do that all the time with the gas and I see people pointing at them and I always am thinking, “uh, how rude those people are pointing at me”, but they are really just trying to let me know I’m dumb. Omg. Me, you, and Bob are all twinsies. I’m left handed too 🙂 Flat Kitty is sure lucky to have a tattoo of Bob’s autograph, I’m a little jealous.     I recently learned that the fountain of youth is in our hips. I’m in trouble because my hips are tight, tight, tight. Is there something similar to botox for hips? 😉

    My arm actually got tired for you watching that video. I know next to nothing about crossfit and am not even particularly attracted to it (if nothing else – CRAZY expensive) but it was a fascinating video to watch. I got better at understanding what he was asking for further in. It isn’t something I have ever tried or done.

    I’M SO JEALOUS!!! I love him!! LOVEEEEEEEEE! lol. I wish he would teach me to do crossfit, but I dont think he even knows Cut n Shoot Texas exists. haha.

    I’m actually going to go to my first crossfit gym next week, I’m really excited, but nervous to look like a goober.
