Holy catfish…really, the weekend is over? What the heck happened?
Man, man, man.
Well I have a protein packed post planned with a bunch of GNC goodness, but honestly, I can’t get it together this morning to do it justice, so it’ll have to wait. Story of my life. Ha.
I talk about the importance of sleep all the time. I KNOW it’s important, especially as an athlete for recovery and everything, yet my night time “office hours” keep extending a little too late. It’s just not okay. I even just reread my own post about about not skimping on sleep. Nice. If you need a reminder that post is here. Dr. Oz talks about how you burn less calories if you don’t get enough sleep.
This morning, I’m digging into a strong iced sugar free hazelnut mocha (it’s taken the place of my perfect summer mocha lately).
Oh yeah, and I found my green reusable straws yesterday after complaining that I couldn’t find them. I just had to clean out the office a little. Ha.
Time to be honest.
Yesterday my big plans of going to the gym early didn’t happen. We had other potty training things going on over here. and man, talk about time consuming. We’re making some progress though.
So…. I ended up getting on the treadmill at 9:00 pm to sweat out 5 miles. I do not like working out late at night like that. Bleh. At least The Kardashians were on to entertain me.
I have yet to go through my swag bags from the IDEA Fitness Convention that was over a week ago. I need to get on that.
Saturday afternoon I was so tired, I should’ve taken a nap, but instead I tried to get work done and ended up eating way too man snacks to keep me going. I lost track of everything I ate and kept telling myself that I should just go rest instead. I didn’t and found myself with a massive tummy ache about 2 hours later. Dumb. I felt it all day yesterday too. Again, dumb.
I found this little blurb in Health magazine though that might come in useful next time this happens or might be useful to you too.
The cover of the magazine also had this.
Um yeah, I would really like to know because friends, my stomach will never be the same. My belly button points straight out at all times. I hide it from you.
I’ve been switching up my breakfast STUFTwich a bit. Instead of the norm, I’ve been adding a little Smart Balance, Splenda and cinnamon to one half and the sugar free jelly on the other.
I’ve also been changing up the bread a bit. It’s good with a Vitamuffin Vitabun.
But it’s usually on my favorite bread.
I think I have to have one right now actually. Ha.
Oh and….. I’ve been using these Eggo waffles under my low calorie ice cream lately.
(Side note- that frozen frosting never gets old.)
But I’ve got to be honest….. I’m TOTALLY missing my chocolate VItatops A LOT. I hope they have a special sale soon. I have yet to try those Fiber One Chocolate Cookie bars, but I don’t think they’re going to be quite the same.
Since I’ve been experimenting with some new salad dressing creations like the ACVM dressing, Laura suggested using apple cider vinegar and hummus. I tried it yesterday.
Yum Hum Dressing
2 tablespoons hummus
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
crushed red pepper (optional)
It was delicious. It was a little thick, but I liked it that way. It went on some spinach and romaine
and was topped with turkey breast.
Then I followed it all up with a big bowl of pumpkin protein cookie dough
made with this GNC egg white protein powder (which is my new favorite thing).
Topped that off with a little low calorie peanut butter frosting and some SunButter.
Oh and blueberries.
Ha ha.
And well, lastly I’m super behind on posts and mentions and a couple of weeks ago the fabulous people at Honest Tea paid us a very special home visit.
They hooked the STUFT family up.
We’ve got just a little tea and apple juice that we’ve been making our way through.
The boys have been loving the Appley Ever After drinks (for special occasions).
STUFT Daddy has been drinking different teas ever afternoon. His favorite is the new (not too) Sweet Tea, but he’s also been going through the Honey Green Tea.
Okay, well…..
it’s time to check out the potty scene for the morning and start this day of ours.
Happy Monday friends!
These guys think they’re ready to “go to school” and “ride the bus”.

“I don’t eat that” really does work well. It doesn’t even give you the “guilt” feeling when it’s something someone made! 🙂
WOW – score on that tea! I have no idea how you ran at 9 pm. That’s my bedtime LOL. Love the idea of thinning out the hummus like that. I use red wine vinegar in my homemade hummus for that added zing, so the cider vinegar would just be extra yummy.
Running at 9 was NOT a good idea. Ugh.
I love Honest Tea! They have a mint flavored green that is just divine.
Ooo.. we didn’t get that one. 🙂 We are all about tea and pee over here though these days. Ha ha.
I am so glad you liked the dressing! That’s exactly how I do mine – gotta have the red pepper flakes. 🙂 It’s also good with a little cumin (my other addiction).
Those vita muffins rock. I’m down to my last one after breakfast this morning.
I’m so glad you’re brilliant and you’re my friend. 🙂 I’ll have to try it with cumin. Mmm….
I saw that blurb in Health, too, and I really liked it. Although, when I say that out loud, I’ve felt a little pretentious at times.
Totally do that and feel the same way oops! Oh well, I try not to be a “food” brat as I call it, too much!
You both made me laugh. I just tried saying it out-loud too…no blaring food temptation in front of me, I just to see what it sounds like and it reminded me of when I hear people kids in the collective “we.” 🙂
Shoot, I didn’t even think about it that way. Maybe we can say it in our head???
I loved every part of this post, except the part where you ate instead of napped, I do that way too much! For once I did take a nap (on Saturday) because I got up at 5 to run so I told myself that I WOULD take a nap because later I had a party to go to and i wanted to make sure I wasn’t dead haha, but I really have to talk myself into it, and I need to work on that sleep more thing as well. Its so hard with kids, exercise Bo problem, but sleep??? When the kids are sleeping I just want to do everything!!! I might have to try that dressing, I bought thahini awhile ago fir hummus and its just been sitting doing nothing! And one last thing…this was part of your last post though but I think if you want to try incorporating the egg whites into your mochas maybe after you heat your milk froth the egg whites into the milk with your frother??? Possibly??? You just have to be careful they don’t cook too much from the heat before you froth haha
Oh man, I won’t be adding them to my hot mochas anytime soon. Only the cold ones, but good idea to froth them a bit. I might have to try that. And… try a nap. 🙂
Nice run yesterday by the way!
OK, I laughed at the magazine. I am not sure telling myself not to eat something will necessarily work. 🙂 But I can tell you never even had twins and my stomach still doesn’t look like that. 🙂 Hey, at least you got some hilarious boys in the deal. But I am not minimizing, I totally get body “annoyances” and some days you just can’t pollyanna those away!
That looks like a great hummus flavor! I will have to try that one. I am really loving the ACV + hummus. Perfect combo and I love the dressing thick too.
I like the honest tea half and half flavor. Have a great day!
I hide my stomach. There’s a reason I cover it most the time and wear Spanx. Ha ha. I’m loving the dressing too! So fun!
Most of the time I sort of accept the fact that the extensive restriction that would be involved for me to get a flat a stomach would significantly interfere with the rest of my life…including being able to be as active as I am and to be a reasonably pleasant person. 🙂 Who knows? I may have not figure out the right “mix” either, but there is only so much self-abuse I am willing to put myself through. And I can only assume what carrying twins would do. 🙂
Mindless TV always works when your trying to crank out a run. I have got to try your frozen frosting!!
I purposely time my runs around crappy TV shows. Ha ha. 🙂 Yes, try the frosting!
I would never make that 9:00 treadmill run! I still have to fit one in today. Worked out with my trainer this morning and was planning on running home but it was just TOO hot and muggy so I still have to run over to the gym and get that run in. That salad dressing sounds yummy!!! And your boys are so cute!!
I hear you on the Vitatops. I only have 2 left, and I keep avoiding eating them so I don’t have to face the fact that they’re gone. But I read that they going to be coming out with Vitapizzas sometime soon, so I want to hold out for that before I make an order. Don’t know if I can, though… But the waffles are a great idea! I think I have a box of those kicking around in my freezer.
By the way, I recently started a blog, if you’d ever like to check it out. It’s nowhere near as amazing as yours, but a girl’s gotta start somewhere, right? 🙂 Good luck on the sleep!
I find both of those magazine pages totally offensive, but I HATE magazines because I can pick up any random one, flip to any random article and write a term paper on how it’s socially harmful propaganda. That is pretty much what I did in college. I’m sure you’re PERFECT just the way you are and I like how we can’t see your stomach but we get some awesome feet pics, lol. 😉 I really hope you get some good sleep soon to sort of reset everything but I know it’s Monday and you’re probably teaching like 8 classes. 🙁 Maybe you should take a sleeping pill at 10pm or something so you’ll get really tied and have to go to bed? Drugs are the answer. Well you know what I mean…ok, take care of yourself! xo
You are funny. I tried some sleeping pills once and it was not a good situation the next day. I’ll show foot pictures ALL DAY before I show my belly button. (Joaquin calls it my penis. Yeah, it sticks out that much.)
Cool with the Honest Tea special delivery! Love their stuff.
That salad dressing looks good! 🙂 You are dedicated to work out at 9pm. I’m doing good to sit up straight on the couch by then! lol ps… I’m so glad you are liking the Slap Ya Mama!
Um.. it’s more like loving it. 🙂
I’ve been adding hummus to my salad dressings lately, but I never thought of adding vinegar to it to turn it into it’s own dressing. Will have to try it! I’m not much a tea drinker, otherwise I’d have to look into Honest Tea as well. Sounds like you need to not go over your “office hours” so you can sleep more! I don’t know about that magazine article….I guess the mind is a powerful thing but I think the urge to consume food might be stronger haha
I can’t take credit for the dressing idea. It was Laura’s. 🙂 Yes, my office hours need a cut-off time for sure. 🙂
Ick, I hate working out after 5 as well. Later in the day workouts wipe me out. At least you got it done! I hope you get enough sleep soon! It so important, but its a part of our health a lot of us ignore. I think you are beautiful the way you are and don’t need to listen to those silly magazines! Obviously those celebs can get their pre baby body back, they can get surgery, hire nutritionists and person trainers, which not a lot of us normal folk have the pleasure of doing;) Have you tried hummus mixed with nutritional yeast? So magical!
I have not tried hummus with nutritional yeast. Just mix it together?
Yep! I just mix it with a fork or knife or something of those sorts
I’m going to have try that hummus ACV dressing! looks great!
Oh Man! I feel you on the eating and snacking when you should just rest. If I start snacking I just can’t stop and I always end up with tummy ache too. I’m getting old, that never would have happened in my college days! I have found that if I just don’t taste it then I won’t eat more than one:). Good for you for still getting the run in, the Kardashians crack me up (though my husband says and I quote “seeing you watch this show makes me think less of you:)”. Ahh what does he know!! Take care.
Ha. Kardashians is definitely entertaining. I bet your husband watches it when you’re not home. LOL.
Holy protein woman! That looks like a delicious and nutrition load of protein packed eats! I LOVE ACV and hummus! I also mix ACV, nooch and chickpea flour as a dressing for over cheese less pizza! So good! It gives you a good creamy topping without the cheese and so much flavor! Also, that’s some great tea too! Love Honest Tea! Looks like a great day!
I’m going to HAVE to try that. ACV, nooch and chickpea flour…. wait where do I get that? 🙂 Or can I sub something else? Cornmeal? Quinoa flakes?
“I don’t eat that” definitely ends up working, but then if it’s a special occasion and I do want to eat “that” it turns into a guilt issue, or “that” becomes way too many things and I start feeling deprived. So I’ve learned cutting out things completely (other than my required gluten and soy…) is a bad idea for me, personally! I think I’ll switch the phrase to “I only eat that on special occasions”! Haha
Oh Katie- I can’t cut things out completely either, but there’s definitely a time and place and this is a good one to use if it’s not really a “special occasion”. 🙂
How to get your body back after twins? It’s called surgery. Just kidding! My twins were two months early. At the time, that sucked, but looking back I wonder what two more months of carrying them would have looked like. And P.S. I would definitely say you got your bod back. You are rocking some sweet guns!
Srugery- I know. Someday when I get rich. LOL. Ha. Thanks lady!!!!
man you got hooookeedd up with all that tea!!! Don’t devour it too quickly :). Also, love the picture of the boys. One day they are going to look back @ all the pictures you’ve posted of them and hateee you for it, haha.
I know right? I havne’t touched their baby books, but they can just come to the blog and thank me. LOL.
I often make salad dressing from my hummus! Love it. Greek yogurt with basalmic vinegar and fresh cilantro is my latest favorite… I made a batch and it kept a few days (maybe would have lasted longer but i ate it all!!)
Oh… that sounds amazing. I love fresh cilantro. 🙂
Hi Kristin- I saw that you ate a Vita bun for breakfast. I can only find the Vita tops in the stores. Where do you get the english muffins? thank you and your boys are so cute!
i like wearing short shorts when i’m running outside…but don’t feel comfortable in them at the gym!! these look really nice
