The Pump and Some San Fran Pre and Post Race Eats

The Pump and Some San Fran Pre and Post Race Eats

Holy smokes the past week has been a bit hectic. My post that I started yesterday morning on my desktop was abruptly interrupted by what I’m fairly certain was the same virus that infected my poor little laptop the other day. So sad. So so sad.

Instead of trying to rewrite that whole post, I’ll just start a new one and we can talk marathon expo later. Hope you don’t mind.

Here we go.

First of all, this morning the boys are up way too early. Probably because I need sleep like no other. They’re good at knowing that aren’t they?

I did not make roasted zucchini noodles last night. Shocking, huh?

Instead I ate this Trader Joe’s roasted vegetable pizza after I got home from teaching at the gym.

I added a little chicken breast and crushed red pepper and it was pretty darn tasty.

I followed it with a little Almond Coconut Ice Cream, but didn’t snap a photo. I could barely keep my eyes open, but I could keep them propped up just enough to catch the first half of The Bachelor Pad from earlier in the week. Ha.

The Pump

The other day I finally put the pump on my huge egg white jug.

I thought I was super cool until this thing didn’t fit in the fridge. Luckily we have two (because I’m a hoarder) and it fit in the other one.

It came with this little blurb on the amount it pumps.

I usually use 1/2 cup of egg whites with my cinnamon sugar breakfast STUFTwich so I put it to the test. It was pretty right on with the amount. Four pumps was about a 1/2 cup. That should save me the trouble of cleaning exactly one extra dish a day. Score.

I never got to dump on you about the rest of our San Francisco trip and all our eats and fun so I thought I’d do it now. Hope you don’t mind.

Pre Race

Since I headed out immediately after teaching boot camp last Saturday I wore my fun Lorna Jane outfit, my Handful bra and one of two pairs of Mizuno Elixirs that were traveling with us to the airport.

Interesting. Not that many other people were sporting workout wear at the airport.

Since our friends were picking us up from the airport I tried to make myself look halfway decent in the bathroom really quick.

Oh what a difference 5 minutes and cheap old make up can do. STUFT Daddy was really excited about these cranes in the airport window.

If I could only remember what they were……

Darn it.

After our friends picked us up, they politely hinted that we should stop at the hotel first so I could get “comfortable”. I took that as they wanted me to put on some normal clothes to walk around in.

So I did. I swapped out my workout wear for my Spanx and some jeans.

We hung out around the Ferry Building and got some lunch at Gott’s.

A couple of us got the Chinese Chicken Salad.

A couple of men got some beer.

How cute are our friend Jonathan and Yvette?

No wonder they wanted me to clean up a bit. Ha.

They dropped us off at the expo shortly after our late lunch. The expo recap is on my other computer so I’ll skip it for now.

Our pre race dinner was at Patxi’s.

Andrew had a beer to recover after I dragged him all around the expo. I had my “chia cocktail” with chia seeds and a Nuun tablet in ice water.

I got a whole wheat cheese less veggie pizza with some jalapeños added on there. I don’t remember exactly what Andrew got.

I do remember that I added a lot of nutritional yeast (that I happen to have in my purse), crushed red pepper and Cholula to my pizza.

And that I finished the whole darn thing.

Yeah, I know how to carb up.

If you missed the race talk, I wrote an entire San Francisco Marathon recap post the other day. It was an amazing race.

For now I’ll just skip to the post race fun.

Post Race

After we headed back after the marathon and I got my Starbucks that I’d been dreaming of the entire second part of the race, I took a much needed shower while Andrew made us some much needed mimosas.

This may have been the best mimosa ever.

I LOVE my Halo hat. It does wonders for keeping sweat out of my eyes while I run, but it does not do wonders for my forehead for approximately 2 hours after I take it off. I had a pretty nice line going on, but maybe that was a good thing and distracted from my wrinkles. Ha ha.

We wanted to hit up Mama’s for lunch since everyone always talks about that place. But, after a short cab ride there we found out that the people had been waiting in line for 2 hours. No thank you. We headed down to Fisherman’s Wharf for lunch instead.

We did the sushi thing there.

Then we checked out the sites.

Whoa wind.

Whoa wind again. Ha ha.

Of course we had to hit up the candy shop.

We definitely stocked up on our share of overpriced taffy.

And hey, look, they had a store just for me.

That’s right, I’m left-handed, as is my best friend Bob who tells me in this video.

We stopped for a little caffeine fix and a present for Grandma D and Papa.

And, by the way, the expensive jar of Biscoff spread I bought was NOT allowed on the airplane. They confiscated it at the airport on our way home. Lame.

But, I was happy about the caffeine fix. My new drink of choice lately if it’s not a special occasion for my favorite Starbucks drink, is an iced café Americano with a couple sweetener packets and soy milk.

It makes me smile.

This guy makes me smile too.

Look at him with his teeny tiny mocha. Ha ha.

Somehow we ended up here.

I don’t remember the exact quote, but Andrew did say something about his lady filling up a trashcan with his dead skin or something. Lucky lady. You’re welcome.

We took our snazzy fingers and toes to a little dive bar. I think it was called Comstock.

They had really great drinks and the cutest little boot shot glass.

After our little happy hour we went out for our anniversary dinner celebration.

I’m so bummed this next picture is blurry because we rarely get all dressed up.

Yes, jeans and a nice shirt is dressed up for us.

Oh well. There’s always next year.

I promised to put my camera away during our dinner at Harris’ Steakhouse, but made sure to take just a couple shots before I did.

He he.

I really wanted to go to Ghiradelli for some ice cream afterwards, but it was late and too far away. After throwing a minor fit in the taxi I agreed to head back to the hotel for the leftover champagne from the morning and a little room service dessert.

Red velvet cake, chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream. Most expensive dessert ever. Will not do that again. Oh well.

Sunday morning after my “office hours”

I stretched my legs out on the elliptical for about 20 minutes (only because I get really excited to use hotel gyms and I wanted to browse through my Self magazine).

Our trip ended with a free hotel breakfast and our first ever experience on the BART.

Surprisingly we didn’t get lost and we made it to the airport just in time, but we did hear our name being called on the loudspeaker as the last call for our flight. Oops. Cutting it close as usual.

A short flight later we were home and needed Starbucks yet again.

And then we picked up these cool dudes.

The weekend was a blast! I so hope we get to travel to some more races in the future. I better get training so we can get some of our travels paid for, yes? Ha ha.

Thanks for letting me dump our whole San Francisco weekend on you. Luckily we don’t travel very often so you won’t have to put up with another one of these for awhile.

And… just to make it up to you I have a short post with an amazing protein cookie recipe coming up next.

Want a little teaser?

Um, yeah. Good stuff.

You know I hadn’t even thought about the logistics of traveling for a marathon (since I don’t run them) until your posts. Then I started reading about the one in the Redwoods while researching for a roadtrip and decided if I ever run a marathon maybe I will travel for that one. 🙂

The bridge portion of the SF sounded rotten. I don’t like be crowded.

Loved all the updates of your fabulous anniversary and little trip!

They didn’t make me, they just politely hinted. 🙂 I think it was more for me and they thought I was embarrassed. Little do they know I only wear workout clothes out and about on a daily basis. Ha.

That egg white jug is ridiculous, haha!! I’ve never seen anything like it. I use egg whites a lot, but there’s now way I use them enough to go through one of those before they went bad! And, now after seeing those pictures I’m craving sushi, yummmmmm.
