Weekend Workouts:
A boot camp class Saturday and a total of about 20 treadmill miles over two days. Not consecutive, it was actually three different treadmill runs and my longest one was this one.
I had to try to get some miles in before next week’s race.
Yeah, I have a race next weekend. What the? It’s America’s Finest City Half Marathon. Last year I had some “issues” (similar to the San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon). Hopefully things will go a bit better this year. We shall see.
I made the mistake of setting my alarm for 6:30 this morning. Silly me. I have a 2 1/2 year old alarm that goes off religiously at 6:00 on the dot. Sometimes with dry underwear, sometimes without. It all depends on the day. I’ll let you guess how today started out. Ha.
I just opened a pack of new Starbucks espresso beans and made this little beauty.
I’m loving my homemade Café Americano more and more.

Anyhoo…….. this past weekend.
I bet I made a few people laugh walking around Costco with this fine sticker on my butt on Saturday.
Yep. I found it there after our Costco adventures and after I wrote the blog post about our trip with Flat Kitty. Just lovely. Who the heck knows how long I was sporting that bad boy. If people weren’t looking at me funny for pushing around two cranky toddlers and Flat Kitty, they were definitely laughing and pointing at this.
I finally kept my promise to STUFT Daddy and made him a yummy dinner Saturday night for date night. I went with taco pie.
I think my problem with burning things is rubbing off on my other cooking though because that was the most overdone taco pie I’ve ever made. STUFT Daddy said it was the best one ever. He’s a liar, but I appreciated it.
I didn’t make this, but Judah did some pretty darn cool disappearing tricks that I thought were worth showing off.
While he was busy working on his magic, I made some Hooligan Pancakes for breakfast for the boys and I.
I subbed in a little coconut oil for the Smart Balance and made regular ones for the boys and a non green version of Mama’s Green Hooligans for myself.
I forgot how good these are. And yes, I was craving the nut butter like crazy yesterday. I had PB Crave and Naturally More on those bad boys. Throughout the day I’m pretty sure I ate a little of every open nut butter jar we have in the house. You have those days sometimes too, yes?
I made time for my morning coffee routine Sunday and lived a little dangerously again with the freezer placement of my cup.
It all turned out though. Dang that ear.
The boys made sure to annoy Kitty as much as possible.
What can I say, they’re huggers.

I also made another green juice drink. I was craving one after my little experiment the other day.
Juicy Green Citrus Tea
1 pack Good Earth Ginseng Citrus tea (brewed with just 1/4 cup water), CocoaVia Summer Citrus packet, lots of kale, 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, about 1 cup of cold water and 1 cup crushed ice.
It was still pretty chunky at the end, but maybe that’s how these green juice drinks are supposed to be. Or maybe I’m not doing it right. Who knows.
Here’s the new Good Earth tea I tried out. It was pretty good, but I have yet to try it out just by itself.
My drink went with some protein cold oats and vanilla protein frosting.
You really don’t need exact measurements. I only measure them because I use my kitchen scale instead of dirtying extra tablespoons and stuff. I’m pretty sure it’s about a 1/2 tablespoon of chia and a tablespoon or so of the GNC vanilla egg protein powder. Ice cream dream frosting recipe is here.
I topped with blueberries.
We were going to do this Team Bob workout that I’m in with my best friend Bob as a family, but we didn’t get around to it. Hopefully we will sometime this week.
We did make time to play on playground after church last night though.
Judah sported a little static while Joaquin sported a mean wedgie. Ha ha.
Love my men.
This picture just makes me smile.

And well, we made some life decisions over the weekend too, but I’ll share those later.
Life is all about taking chances and living your dream, right?
My goal for this week is to make time to pray, relax, take care of my men and smell the flowers. I haven’t been doing enough of any of those.
I also haven’t been giving you enough.
I forgot I had stocked up on all these chia shots from the San Francisco Marathon the other weekend.
I want to give you some shots from The Chia Company.
Leave me a comment here and tell me something you made this past weekend or a goal you have for this week.
I’ll pick three winners to get three shots tomorrow morning. A little gift from me to you. My hoarding comes in handy sometimes, doesn’t it? (And yeah, only three shots each. I don’t want you overdoing it or anything.)
You can tweet a little something about winning some @thechiacompany chia shots from @stuftmama if you really want an extra entry. Just leave an additional comment.
If you’re bored, take some Flat Kitty roasting pictures for the big roast. Email them, post on Facebook, post them to Instagram, whatever floats your boat. (I can get them from Instagram to put in the post, can’t I?) Wait a minute, how fun would it be to have a big Instagram Flat Kitty party? Hmmmm….
Okay. I’m off. Happy Monday friends! Hope you make time to smell the flowers this week.

LOL – I hate it when I walk around with stickers (usually it’s the size sticker) on my clothes and no one says a word. Hmmmm, a goal for me this week will be my first run date with a new friend I found that lives nearby. I’m slightly terrified b/c I only run solo or with hubby. I’ve only ever run with 2 other people actually.
I have been averaging over 25 miles a week which has been a goal I’ve really been working on (increased mileage) and also eating atleast 4-5 servings of fruits/veggies a day (I know I should eat more but that’s a huge improvement )
And I’m tweeting
tweeted too: Hoping to win some @thechiacompany chia shots from @stuftmama – been wanting to try these! #fitfluential #eat
Those pancakes look so good! Love your eats. A goal of mine for this week is to do a guest blog post I’ve had in the works for a few weeks now, and it NEEDS to get done. I also want to keep cooking! this past weekend I made some-what successful blackbean burgers, and VERY successful chobani protein pancakes yesterday morning. AND.. i tweeted
My goal for this week is to get enough rest and push my workouts to the limit. Been feeling a little lagged lately so I’d really like to get my workouts back on track.
I tweeted
https://twitter.com/beermeamartini/status/235040345589702657
I made raw kelp noodles with vegan cheese sauce for dinner this weekend. It was delicious.
I tweeted this. @SarahRgoode
Thanks for the recipes! I can taste that taco pie already!
That’s hilarious about the sticker. That’s something that would happen to me, but I wouldn’t notice it until the very end of the day. Ha ha.
A goal for this week is to get packed!
Hi there Stuft Mama, I thought it’s about time for me to leave my first ever comment… although I’ve been following your life around for a while!! I love love love everything about your website…the recipes, the workouts, the boys…and most of all your honesty!!
About my goal… Although I’ve fell in love with fitness and nutrition … when I got pregnant the third time this February, and had to move (Army) all by myself (with two kiddos)…then a miscarriage …I’ve gained very quickly about 10 lbs and unfortunately I’m an “emotional eater”…these last 6 months been the most stressful and hardest ever… so I’m having a VERY hard time letting go of my emotional eating urges…and although I’ve been working out faithfully I know I need to get my eating back on the right track. SO, my goal is to stick to my PLAN
My goal for the next two weeks is to survive my Pharmacology class. I didn’t think studying and reading could take so much out of a person! I don’t want to resort to energy drinks and coffee, so I try to find healthy ways to energize me (and my brain). Wish me luck in staying sane these next two weeks! haha.
I didn’t really make anything, but I did spend $150 at a bulk food store so I will be baking all kinds of stuff soon! A goal for this week is to run at least 4 days and to do more strength training.
I love flat kitty!!! A goal I have this week is to do some good training so I have a chance at soccer tryouts net wednesday. And no, I’m not a procrastinator… The reason for putting off the workouts is that all summer I have been working my hardest to gain the 10 pounds I needed to be able to play! And yesterday I stepped on that scale AND I GAINED THOSE 10 SUCKERS!!! It may not seem like a lot, but believe me, weight doesn’t wanna stick around my body very much and this is a big accomplishment:) thanks for the recipe ideas, they have helped!
Humm. I made done egg cakes this weekend. I have pictures on my blog if you want to take a look. I used 4eggs whites,2eggs, ricotta cheese, sunflower seeds, spinach, broccoli, turkey bacon. They were awesome. I had enough to last me a couple easy morning hear ups for me. Yum. Oh and of course my morning Java.
I always love it when I leave a size sticker on something so everyone will know! ha
I know all about those nut-butter-craving days…have em all the time
(yesterday was one of those days, actually). For lunch, I made your Mighty Green Microwave Muffin (lower carb/higher fiber version) and topped her with TONs of Sunbutter and homemade honey almond butter. Seriously yummy!!!
I’d love to try the CHIA SEEDS!!
This week I’m excited to LIFT. After RUNNING 20.13 Miles this past weekend, I need to get moving on my strength!!
My goal for this week is to slow down and enjoy the last week of summer. My son will be starting his Senior year on thurs, and my daughter starting third year college (yes mine are a bit older than those cute twins) want to take them to lunch. I also am setting daily goals to eat right and mindfully every 2-3 hours I feel so much better when I slow down and take care of myself.
TWEETED!!
@ROSANNA_ROX
My goal for this week is to stay sane! I have been having to deal with my elderly father and health issues with him – he is currently in rehab; dealing with my elderly Mom who thinks she has to be superwoman and help him 24/7; I have started back to work at my Middle School; I have a freshmen in high school that just started high school marching band camp today (how can my baby be old enough for high school?); and I need to not only find the time for my training clients, but find that “me” training time as well….. Whew!
I start work this week (I teach preschool and it’s time to set up my room and start planning lessons)…My goal is to make as much of my time as possible, plus I have a list of things to prep before going into school to make my time that much more worthwhile. I’m all about making the most of my time lately!
My goal for this week is to try and RELAX! I mean aside from having to go to work, my last semester of Clinical starts next week and I know that things are going to be super hectic for me…so my mantra this week is take things easy, relax, and enjoy spending my free time doing what I love–OH and just because, I got a juicer and made my first green juice in it yesterday…it.was.yummy. Hope your enjoying your smoothies!!!
My goal for this week is to enjoy my vacation and to get in my workouts by exercising with my family!
I’ve yet to try chia seeds and keep telling myself I’ll get around to buying some but just haven’t! I just got back from a week of vacation, so my goal for this week is to jump right back into my routine of 4 days of weightlifting and 2 days teaching spin, with a smile on my face i might add! Can’t wait!
How about a note on a goal we hit this past week, too? I have a 1/2 marathon in two weeks and on the training schedule I was to run 13 over this past weekend. I was a little scared to actually do the same amount as the race, but I DID IT!!! I felt amazing and even got up this morning to run 5 miles (which keeps me on schedule).
This week’s goal is to stay on track, run the miles I’m suppose to and continue the excitement for the upcoming race.
Marcia.
Hi!! Your weekend sounds about like mine, a little craziness filled with some good family time…. And good eats
. My goal for this week is to make the most of my training days and bump my cardio a little. I also plan on making good healthy dinners all week for me and the hubs!! Off to the grocery to stock up for the week and do a little pre planning!! Thank for the tips with Chia, I have been adding them to everything! Yipee!! Have a great week!!
That taco pie looks delish! I would love to win some chia seed packets. This weekend I came up with a peach almond pancake recipe and they were yummy…..don’t you love it when that happens.
I made a double batch of my peanut butter cups this weekend. All you do is add 2/3 cup peanut butter, 2/3 cup coconut oil and 3 truvia packets in a 4 cup measuring cup. Microwave about 30 seconds and stir. Makes a “soup”. Pour into cupcake lined muffin tin and refrigerate. This makes 10 pb cups, but I make them kinda thick!! They have to stay refrigerated or they will melt if you are in a hot climate. These make a great snack and it is a great way to get in some healthy coconut oil. My family loves them!
Def want to win some chia shots. That would be perfect for my long run pocket.
My goal this week was to get out of the house a lot! Also, I now have to add “make Stuft Mama’s taco pie” to my list. That looks delicious!
I also had a green smoothie this weekend. Two actually. Spinach, yogurt, avocado, frozen banana, nutritional yeast. So good!
SO much to catch up on! Loved this post – gotta click on some of those links and try the taco pie and that great looking green juice! Yum.
Thanks for the chia giveaway – so kind! This last weekend I made some memories – on the freakin’ Grand Canyon with an incredible group of young adult cancer survivors! It was amazing. Launched back into work now but a full blog post to follow this week.
Another race? Goodness. I have to tell you, your green drinks sound not good to me, lol, although you’ve got awesome healthy stuff packed in there. Everyone totally does it their own way but I used to blend frozen spinach with almond milk and protein powder. That was the best I could do. If you add fruit to that it basically just tastes like the fruit, but if you have tasty protein powder (like this miracle GNC egg white) it would probably be good plain too. I don’t need any Chia though. It’s not on my paleo plan…at least not for thirty days and then we will see
Can’t wait to hear your new life plans. Be sure to take that time for those wonderful things okay??
I worked my ass off all weekend so my meals were all just simple salads and raw veggies with some quick healthy, heat-stable snacks for my car thrown in. Boring lol. BUT I start a new job on Wednesday, so my goal is to make it through my first few days at work haha
Haha, you are too awesome.
My goal this week is to not let myself get too stressed over the fact that I am travelling by myself since its my first time!
My goal is to get back on track with my eating. Too much processed foods lately!
And I tweeted: https://twitter.com/j_mosh/status/235095974417154048
I made your Stuft Protein Cookie Dough for the first time this week! Holy deliciousness! My goal for the week is to try one of your amazing dessert recipes each night HA! Any recommendations let me know
You know what I made? I made myself barf due to planning a wedding. I will be so happy when Saturday 8/18 rolls around
I take Chia everyday too! But the kind I use is a different brand, its pre-ground so your body can absorb it better. Its called Lifemax: http://lifemax.net/mila2health/HealthBenefits it fuels my runs! First full marathon on Aug 26th~ Tonight I am making your recipe for the cauliflower crust
yumm Also, i am HOOKed to the Handful bra’s, ordered one 2 weeks ago…then ordered another 2 pairs last week!!
I finally got around to making your Protein Dream cookie this weekend and it was delicious.I’m going to have to try the protein cold oat snack. You always gave good recipes. My goal for this week is to really clean up my diet more. I’m hitting my workouts but I’m not eating as clean as I need to be.
I didn’t make anything all weekend, so I’ll go with a goal…make through the week with my sanity while potty training my 2 year old and RE training my 4 year old….yes you read that right…we are in the middle of some super fun, tortuous potty training fun/hell. I am sure if we get through the week without killing ourselves we will be doing good…so add a prayer to your list!
I made a yummy and healthy pumpkin bread (recipemfrom pinterest). One had cinnamon and chocolate chips and the other was plain! Delicious!!!
What a lovely post. I always get good inspirations when people take risks or think through their own life decisions so I hope you share what you are comfortable with.
I see your Kitty also claims the dog bed. So ridiculously cute.
What I made this weekend was one of my ALL time favorite snacks. Half a scoop of peanut butter chocolate protein, and greek yogurt sprinkled with some PB2. It was amazing! Maybe even better with some chia seeds added in
One of my goals this week is to put my DREAM BIG plan together for Summer 2013! So much work to do, but I’m actually loving it, because it’s a big dream that I know can make happen.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I made a quinoa chickpea broccoli casserole that is really great!
I made a giant batch of overnight oats (with lots of chia) so I don’t have to think about what to have for breakfast this week
My husband and I made a copycat version of P.F. Changs Orange Chicken. We used to make it or go out for it quite often when we were first dating, so it was fun to relive those memories years later!
Love Chia! I made Super Charge Me Cookies for my parents to fuel their 18 hour trip back to Michigan.
tweeted!
My goal for this week is to chill out and relax and have fun camping this weekend.
The sticker is something that would happen to me! Your cold oats look good… I must try these! You have never let me down before!!
Last week I made lots of STUFT recipes! I’m obsessed with low-calorie ice cream! I made a blended perfect summer mocha & pumpkin protein dough. I have pretty much been living off of your dairy-free recipes since I found out my baby is allergic to dairy. Thank you! I don’t know what I’d eat without them!
My goal for this week is to enjoy my last two days at home with my baby before going back and work (and most likely being a blubbering fool) on Thursday. Some chia shots would surely cheer me up
HAHAHAHA that would so happen to me with the sticker lol
! I made this awesome pita pizza with ground turkey, & kale & a little cheese & a roasted red pepper & eggplant spread as my pizza sauce
. YUM-O! I love Chia seeds. I love adding them to everything
Never seen little “shots” of chia like that, very cool!! We have all been there with the sticker *sigh*
so many yummy eats here!! love seeing pictures of your little boys, too cute
Can I just say I heart you? you are REAL, funny and honest. Your creations have inspired me to go out of my safe, conservative, comfort food zones. I have been enjoying dark chocolate frosting and pb2 frosting without any guilt many a night. I am eager to try vitatops with it but nervous at the same time…i fear one might set me off and i’ll 2, 3, 4 and more! Anyway as a mom, wife, career person etc–I know the balance (and imbalances) we all share. ha ha. Thanks for keeping it real and showing us how healthy can be fun, delicous and adventurous. It’s also nice to meet someone who has the same broccoli slaw obsession I have.
I experiemented in making some curry hummus this weekend. It turned out really, really well!
I am going to try and stick to my 1/2 marathon training plan while on vacay this week. I also have been making overnight oats which I LOVE! Thanks so much for the idea, love your blog!
I really need to catch up on some TSG paperwork, and I made a really good carrot cake protein shake (sans chia cause I need to go get some more)…so…not quite as good as it could’ve been, but still darn tasty.
A goal I have for this week is to have more patience at work! I would say get my runs/workouts in, but that would be too easy
Yay for another race! And can’t wait to hear about these life decisions (if you decide to share)!
Love your goal! My goal this week is to TRUST the Lord more with my job search- I know He has got it and I need to rest in that!
Love the chia shots. I use chia daily either in my tea or in my shakes in the a.m. A shot would be so convenient for on the go….
.
I have 2 goals this week:
To run 50 miles. I’ve been sticking around the 40 mark, would really like to bump it up a bit.
The 2nd may not be so easy. I’m on a “staycation” this week with my kids & I”m hoping to have all the patience to enjoy the entire week with them without too much frustration- BIG goal. They’re very busy boys
My goal this week is to get three runs in – easier said than done since I leave tomorrow to go to a mini family reunion with my mom, two brothers and 1 of my two sisters. My first 10k is October 7 and I need to be ready!
For the first time in a long time I made my husband and two boys their favorite breakfast: eggs, fried potatoes, and bacon- not very healthy, but a once in a while treat they all love. (Sunday we had overnight oats!)
haha girl you always have the funniest things to write about and say. Glad the hubs enjoyed the taco pie.. even if he was lying or not
. Oh those pancakes look delicious… especially topped with all that yummy nut butter! It’s so good to know that I’m not the only personw who eats a ridiculous amount
My goal is to enjoy these last two weeks of summer before school starts up! Enjoy my man and my daughter and not take it for granted. Ph, I would also like to run a 35 mile week, got to get a base back up!
My goal this week is to go with the flow! Last week was a shock week with school starting and computer issues. This week, I’m going to take things as they come and NOT sweat the small stuff!
I need to make that Hooligan pancake! I could really use that right about now! I hope you have a great week!
That sticker is awesome. Ha!
i made some zuchini chocolate chip cookies and they were.awesome!! I also made your (burnt) roasted slaw. Hubby loves it.
Thanks for the giveaway and awesome recipes!
My mom and I spent the weekend canning homemade pasta sauce with all the goodies from her garden!
My goals are to climb a 14er in CO Thursday by myself and to not let my anxiety and shyness get to me at the Healthy Liiving Summit this weekend!
My goal for this weekend is to get back up there. I need to saddle up and get back into shape. I want to train for another race!
I made pesto shrimp this weekend and cooked all kinds of vegetables so that we could have easy healthy dinners all week!
Don’t know if the giveaway is still open, but this weekend I made some sauteed veggies (with nooch, basil and liquid aminos=awesome combo!)
And only because i’m a broke college girl, I need the extra entry, haha so I tweeted here too:
https://twitter.com/chocmilk_carly/status/235563957568544768
I made everything zucchini–roasted, bread, cookies, casserole, muffins, cold oats…..
