Oh the Drinks You Can Drink

You know, like this Dr. Seuss book. Which, might I just add is not the shortest bedtime story to read when you’re tired. I tried once to skip some pages, but that didn’t go over too well.

So it is no joke about the connection between lack of sleep and appetite. Friends, if I’m tired and haven’t been sleeping enough I’m hungry all day. I mean all freaking day. I wrote a post about way back when and tracked it down last night.

“Must Do Monday”

I really should be taking my own advice.  I also really should be taking more time focus on my summer priorities as I’ve been so busy lately I haven’t been. It’s time to refocus.

While I work on that today, you should try some of these drinks. Yeah, I’ve been a drink creating machine because of this hot weather (and my fatigue situation). I always crave big cold drinks on hot days. The only way I didn’t eat us all out of house and home yesterday was to keep drinking water and different concoctions all day.

Don’t get me wrong, I still ate a ton. Here was my lunch (yes, just my lunch) I consumed during my afternoon “office hours”.

Blueberries, summer surprise cookie dough dip topped with vanilla protein frosting and Naturally More peanut butter and some cinnamon crisps.

If you haven’t tried this protein frosting yet, you are really missing out. It goes on everything over here.

Oh, did you notice my special drink?

IMG_2653

Pretty snazzy right?

Let’s start the drink chat.

Check this baby out.

Um, yeah. Nothing special, it’s just my café Americano recipe, but I discovered yesterday that you can froth cold almond milk. It doesn’t froth as well as regular milk, but holy smokes it makes this drink that much more fun. I just used this handy dandy milk frother with 1/4 cup cold unsweetened almond milk.

Fabulous. My little frother is making a comeback.

We’ve been having earlier mornings here than usual. Here’s a picture from yesterday at exactly 6:00 am.

IMG_4844

Our morning usually entails getting dressed, spending a long time trying to get everyone to go pee pee in the potty, feeding all the animals and then getting coffee for mama (with my morning coffee routine)  and getting the boys their milk.

Judah requests plain soymilk while Joaquin wants regular milk or chocolate. If it’s a special day he gets chocolate milk.

In his special Starbucks cup.

I posted this on instagram yesterday, but thought I’d share here too.

STUFT Tots Chocolate Milk

1 tablespoon cocoa powder

1 tablespoon agave

milk of choice

Mix the cocoa and agave together to form a paste. Then add milk. If you don’t do it that way it doesn’t blend very well.

Joaquin’s version.

And, well, I keep making these different kickin’ it summer citrus tea concoctions so here was what I came up with yesterday.

IMG_4874

I’m all about adding apple cider vinegar to drinks lately. If you add them to something sweet it helps take the bite out of the vinegar a bit.

IMG_4877

In this drink- 1/2 nuun lemon tea tab, 1 CocoaVia summer citrus packet and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar.

It was awesome.

Okay, that’s it friends. We’re meeting Grandma D for some Panera this morning. You better believe I’m going to be that person bringing my own PB2 or goo with me. Ha ha.

Oh and hey, we got a very special delivery yesterday.

Any guesses?

Have a good day!

Do you have a favorite summer drink?

I’ve mixed that combination together for hot chocolate- but never for cold… I guess I just think that wouldn’t mix well? I guess I could always throw it in a blender!

So what kind of summer drink list are you looking for? I have been loving Shock Top beers lately and my mainstay summer love is a plain or original margarita on the rocks ALWAYS rocks during the hot summer days…..but, if you weren’t looking in that direction then a Diet Coke and Captain M. is good too…oops my mind is wandering…seriously, Diet Coke or boring coffee with creamer always gets me going in the morning too.

And on some mornings like today when a certain puppy started whining from his crate at 3:13 am I need to have one of all of the above drinks to keep me going! HA!

I just bought some ACV today, except it’s to make bone broth, lol. I’m completely exhausted too. I got up way too early because I woke up at 4am and felt like I needed breakfast NOW. Must obey the tummy.

Everything looks yummy! Personal ?: i know you’ve had some tummy issues in the past. I was wondering if you had any advice for mine…thinking maybe it’s a similar situation. I’ve been having very few bowel movements and intense stomach pain and or hard bloated stomach. Notbsure what’s going on. My diet stays pretty consistent for the most part. Just thought maybe you’d have some advice. Thank u

I would eliminate some foods for two weeks and see if it helps. There’s a whole list of foods that are “irritants”, it might take awhile to figure out what causes yours, but it’s worth it. I still have my issues, but have gotten so much better. Email me and we can chat more!

I can totally relate to skipping pages in Dr. Seuss, or any bedtime story for that matter! Keenan lets me know every time, Lol!

I’m with you on drinking ice cold beverages when it is hot. It seems that I can never drink enough iced coffee, peanut butter smoothies or milkshakes! I like your coffee drink idea, too. I never thought to froth cold milk. I’ll have to try it!

I’m totally with ya on cold beverages during the summer. Actually it doesn’t even have to be warm out.. i’ll drink a smoothie for breakfast everyday even if it’s below 10 out!! :)
