Bad Decisions, Bob, a Lonesome Dinner and Winners

Bad Decisions, Bob, a Lonesome Dinner and Winners

Oh man, yesterday was well, I don’t even really know how to describe it. I was living on the edge people. Not making very good decisions, going on little sleep, running late as usual, stuck in traffic for about 4 hours, on the road a total of around 6 1/2 hours, didn’t fit in a much needed run and drank way too much coffee.

How’s that for the beginning of of health blogging post? Oops.

Actually, the day started with the best decision- to stop to take this picture.

The boys and I were running late, but I had to stop to take a deep breath and look at this. I also had to post it on followgram here with my thoughts.

It’s funny how in the hustle and bustle of life, God gives you little reminders to stop even if it’s just for a minute. I’m so glad I did. The rest of the day was just crazy, so that one quiet moment made all the difference.

Here’s a little recap of the rest of the day.

I should have been out of the house at 5:30 am. I wasn’t. I was pushing it a bit with my 6 am leave time. I also didn’t account for extra LA morning traffic on the drive up to our Team Bob shoot. Bad decision. Some things went down in the car ride that I’m not really ready to disclose. Let’s just say desperate times call for desperate measures. Maybe I’ll tell you some day.

As luck would have it I missed to the first workout. My best friend Bob was on a tight time crunch so there was no dilly dallying. Beavis.

I made it just in time for the last workout which was pretty much a miracle in itself since my car was so darn close to being out of gas it wasn’t even funny.

It was a quick little taping. No pictures, no time to chat it up with my man, just working it out business CrossFit style.

We did a quick WOD that we went through twice.

The room was hotter than dump and my Pro Compression socks I wore to impress Bob didn’t help the heat situation. But I love my socks too much to not wear them. I also tried to impress with my Reebok shoes.

(He was wearing Reebok CrossFit Nanos too by the way.)

Other things I wore to try to impress:

Lululemon running shorts

Handful adjustable tank (new and freaking awesome- review to come shortly)

Reebok CrossFit headband

Bob did take some time afterwards to talk some CrossFit moves (maybe be was impressed by my outfit). In our workout we did toes to bar on the floor as a modified version so once the cameras were off he talked me through the real thing on the bar.

Hey look, I’m like spider woman. Ha ha.

Lovely shot. Good thing I had my Spanx on under my shorts.

Toes to the bar are no joke. Have you ever done them?

My short trip from the studio to the gas station was risky. I had the air off and was putting the car in neutral when I could. I have never had my little gas gauge that low in my life. Another bad decision.

After sweating bullets I safely made it to the gas station.

Phew. I was so relieved I felt like I needed to show you this weird vein on my leg that has recently made an appearance and looks like a bird foot.

See that thing on the left? What is that and where did it come from? Great, now not only do I have a T. Rex arm, but now I have a talon looking vein thing on my leg to go with it. Lovely.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the tank in my highlander is a 17 gallon one. That’s just not okay, right? That high price of gas is just not alright either. I would like free gas for a year please. If you know where to get that let me know.

Ha ha.

Oh and these apple pear things are growing on me. I munched on one in the car yesterday.

I also scarfed down a huge melted Peanut Butter Crunch Supreme Protein bar which was not a good idea as it’s all dairy and whey protein and made my stomach hurt for quite some time afterwards. When will I learn?

I had a little time to spare before a special appointment at the new Lorna Jane store in Santa Monica.

I went for a café Americano and attempted to reply to some emails on my phone.

I thought about filing my nails to look a bit more presentable, but after asking on Twitter and Facebook and realizing that it was indeed not acceptable, I put my file away.

Or did I?

I’ll have to recap my whole “Pretty Woman” Lorna Jane experience later since my two little guys need my full attention today.

It was so fun though.

Here’s a couple pictures of my lonesome night before I go. I had a snack just a couple hours earlier so I didn’t need a huge dinner and I was by myself only because it was late and the rest of the family was already sleeping.

After not fitting in a run and sitting on my butt for hours in the car, I did what I’m sure any other sleep deprived crazy mama would do and roasted a butt load of vegetables for dinner.

Mushrooms, roasted broccoli slaw, non dairy kale chips and some green beans. I topped them all off with my new nondairy “cheesy” sauce and some Cholula.

Non Dairy “Cheesy” Sauce

2 tablespoons nutritional yeast

pinch cumin

a little garlic salt

crushed red pepper

hot sauce (optional)

Just mix everything together and add enough water to get the desired consistency. I’ve been making a bunch of different versions of this every day. Delicious.

I also added some apple cider vinegar to a Mike’s Light and watched some quality television.

Yep. I’m a couple weeks behind.

Then I had some almond coconut ice cream on a couple Vitatops with some Cookies and Cream protein Goo, PB Crave and two ingredient chocolate frosting.

Yep. All that in the bowl.

Impressive, huh?

Okay, I’ve got to go, but the winners from the 100 shot chia giveaway are:

Hayley @ Running Down the Runway

Jillian (#148)

Congrats ladies. Email me your shipping information to kristin@stuftfitness.com and I’ll pass it along to our good friends at The Chia Company.

A couple important announcements:

The winner of the Halo Hat giveaway hasn’t claimed her prize yet. Check out this post to make sure it isn’t you! I’ll give her a couple days to claim it, otherwise I’ll pick a new winner.

Also, the first winner of the Reebok Custom Design shoes giveaway never claimed the prize so I chose a new winner this morning and posted it here at the bottom of the post. Make sure it’s not you either!!

Have a good one friends.

We’re making a GOOD decision today and choosing to live by Lorna Jane’s Move Nourish Believe Movement mantra.

You too?

Oh my friend. At least you made it through. I would probably name that vein if I had him.

  3. 3

Now I want to go back to the gym today to try that move!

Upon close inspections, those are indeed Asian Pears. 🙂

Seriously, don’t people stalk you everyday like myself? hahaha!!

Maybe these new winners won’t come forth either…..yea, more chances for me! (again hahaha!)

And finally, my legs are so full of veins I usually point out the “clear and smooth” areas to my hubby. True. I have had 3 varicose vein surgeries before turning age 38…although, ProCompression socks are my new best friends…they make my legs feel sooooo good during and after work outs. (No hahaha about that …)

Maybe I need full compression legs for my veins. 🙂 Those would be great in the summer heat don’t you think? 🙂 If these new winners don’t email me, one of the prizes has your name all over it. He he.

Ah veins. I am more on the veiny side – however I don’t have one in that area yet. The tank looks really cute! I can’t wait to hear more about it. It is flattering.

Once I was stuck in traffic and was pretty much resigned to peeing in my nalgene except I finally found a way off the freeway to a store. Even then, I truly barely made it. I wished I was a boy for the aiming issue. It must have been frustrating to arrive late, but I am glad you still had a good time.

Never tried toes to bar. Have a great day. 🙂

PS. Similar to you, I do occasionally try some of the crossfit ideas I hear about.

You might want to try “wall climbs” if you have never done them. Think standard push up and then walk your legs back up the wall – technically until you are flat on the wall but I don’t trust myself quite that far yet. Anyway, they are blissfully exhausting.

I don’t know how you manage San Diego to Los Angeles. The drive alone would put me over the edge. Then again, it is your best friend Bob. 🙂
