News You Can Use


Happy Friday friends. It’s actually Thursday night, but I’m planning on heading out of the house early tomorrow morning for a long run and the only way I can do that successfully is if I avoid turning on the computer. Ha ha.

And since it’s already quite late and I have an early wake up time tomorrow, all I have for you is some random news.

It’s not the best idea to ask someone if they have a baby bump while they’re in the middle of teaching a fitness class. Yep, this happened to me tonight. I was the person being asked. I was even wearing my Spanx because my tummy was sticking out more than the usual diastasis issue. Um, I had to tell the nice lady while I had my mic on and was in front of everyone that no, it was a post-twin belly bump, not a pregnancy one.

Lovely. Oh what I hide from you on the blog when I only show certain pictures. Ha ha.

I’m thinking it may be time to try to address the whole diastasis thing that I meant to work on months ago though. I’ll just add it to my short list of things to do.


Bosc pears and eggs (or egg whites) with cinnamon are a fabulous combination. I tried it the other day and now have been craving it every morning in place of my cinnamon sugar breakfast STUFTwich. As usual the STUFTwich has been getting bigger by the day.


I scramble eggs or egg whites with a thinly cut pear on the stove with a little cinnamon (just like this). Then I put some coconut butter and Artisana walnut butter on a couple slices of my favorite bread


and viola.


You’ve got to try it.

I did a version today that was similar, but I put it on top of some spinach instead of as a sandwich.


I cooked up the egg whites and pear the same, but then just put it on spinach and drizzled it with coconut oil and walnut butter.

I was all inspired to go grain free this morning after a little paleo chat last night on twitter. Um, yeah, that lasted about 20 minutes or so after I had this bowl and had to make a quick Flatout wrap as a snack. I don’t really think I can do the whole Paleo thing. I love bread too much and I’m still working on baby steps with my new outlook and attempting to limit artificial sweetener.


Freezer tip- separate cooked chicken breast into single serving bags and freeze it for a quick and easy way to add chicken to just about anything later on.


That bag of chicken I got at Costco for $10.99 made quite a lot of baggies. Love that.

Oh and I can’t for the life of me find my big thing of crushed red pepper I thought I bought. I looked for it everywhere tonight and never did find it. It better have made it home.

Lame. I ended up having to use 4 little packets of red pepper I found in a drawer out of desperation for my dinner. Not that my dinner needed any extra spice because I finally picked these little gems.


Aren’t they cute? I only added a little to my dinner tonight, but I’ll be experimenting with them for a bit.


We’ll see how they go over tomorrow morning for the early long run. Ha ha.


Dinner- roasted broccoli slaw, mushrooms, eggplant and chicken with a cheese less sandwich. Dessert was big and had a few “layers” as usual.


If you’ve never tried coconut flour, you really should. I just bought this 4 pack on Amazon.


I made coconut cookie dough crumble within two minutes of that box being inside the house.

I’m trying to get other STUFT Fitness business stuff in order and live my priorities these days. So if these guys tell me not to do my “work” and read with them in our pajamas instead, by golly, I’m going to do it.


We’re also going to try our second attempt on the potty charts with our man Joaquin this weekend. It might be a long one friends. Good thing we stocked up on my favorite wine at Costco. I know for a fact that made it home.

    Kristin it is not possible that YOU have a baby bump! You are the most muscular women ever-I have showed my hubby pics of you as my inspiration! He has a hard time w/ mommy muscles and I strive to get mine as defined as yours-you are amazing-to have twins and stay so fit and active-I have 2 boys also and am into running and anything else I can get my hands on…weights, yoga, crossfit, etc. Does Stuft Daddy ever get annoyed w/ you working out? My hubby does at times.

      Hi! Oh you are too nice. I do in fact have a bump, but I try to hide it the best that I can. My hubby gets annoyed, yes, but he also knows how unpleasant I am to be around if I don’t workout and it’s my job, so that actually helps a bit with the situation. 🙂 Hope you’re having a good weekend. I need to incorporate some yoga into my routine. 🙂

(and I can’t believe you would show a belly bump…my gosh with all that muscle every where else….you must have been just exhaling and she caught your exhale at a funny moment…although, if you do have a belly bump so be it….you have TWINS and your stomach stretched and we are all human!)

    I tried paleo. Wasn’t as successful for me… I did well for a while but I’m only human and I love bread, packaged snacks and ice cream! It actually made me cave and crave even more after being strict for 30 days…. Our fav book is any in the llama llama series!

    Thoughts on paleo… cracks me up that this is the hot thing now. When I did Atkins 8 years ago everyone said I was nuts. Now everyone is back to meat & veggies which is basically what I ate on Atkins. I think that if your diet isn’t working for you, you might want to try it. But don’t do it because it’s the hot thing. All the Paleo people I read online seem to live for their cheat meals.

    I have the same issue with my post twin tummy. Some days are better than others. I’m trying to do some yoga to help strengthen my transverse abdominals…really trying to avoid surgery.

    Hi there,
    I just had to comment on the diastasis thing…I have 3 yr old twins plus a 7 yr old and I have it bad. I was also recently asked if I was “going for a fourth?” and was upset for days and vowed to do the exercises which for whatever reason I am totally non-compliant. I’m thin also,( not as fit as you) and I think that makes it more noticeable. I’ve been there and know how it feels!! I’ve never commented on a blog before…I love yours! I’m also a runner and workout every day and play with my awesome kiddos!

    A person especially a woman should NEVER ask another female if they are pregnant. I had this happenbto me recently by a relative..and I’ve never had children. It didn’t go over real well. It did in fact encourage me to stand with better posture and suck it in constantly especially when I’m sick. And I don’t even have a belly. Ex-relative.

    First of all, I think everyone can agree that your a such a beautiful person inside and out. Sometimes I can’t believe the things people say. The other day I was teaching a fitness class and someone goes “God your legs are white!” Ummm thanks?? Yea definitely wanted to keep teaching then.

    Growing up my favorite book was always I’ll Love You Forever. It’s such a good book! 🙂

    Paleo I think has the right idea to stay away from extra sugars that cause us to crave more ( simple carbs). However certain carbs are important and I think our country eats way too much meat.

    I love how you are putting your priorities out there…I struggle as well finding balance between being a mom, working full-time, being a wife, etc. You have inspired me to have ‘computer hours’ and realize being a mom is #1.

    Although I love some ideas behind paleo, I needed (more) carbs in order to keep my energy levels up. However, since I have been working out less I have incoperated some paleo practices since I don’t need to carb load for long runs anymore;-)

    You might have a bit of a “baby” bump, but other than that your body is rockin! Love coconut flour! Favorite bedtime book Goodnight Moon. I’ve actually been trying the Paleo diet for the past two weeks. So far I’m really happy about the way I feel, but I do miss my jazzed up coffee. I’m following it very strict for the first 30 days and then I will modify it some.

    We have been reading the same book for over a month now. It’s called Beach Day and I know it off by heart. Thankfully a few more have been added to the mix but we still have to read it every single night 🙂 One of my favourite books is Llama llama, red pajama.

    I’m trying to be more present with Linc these days. You know you’re on your phone too much when your kid takes it away from you 🙂 Now I try to catch up while I’m feeding the little girl in the middle of the night.

    I could go on for days on Paleo…I am not a fan at all. I think it’s another way of getting people to avoid food groups that they need. I think it’s way over hyped and I’m kind of over it. I could continue, but I will spare you my gripe session.

    2 favorite bedtime books at our house…Jonathon and the Dragon (old and out of print but totally adorable) and The Big Red Barn

    Paleo–researched it, thought about trying it for about 30 seconds, then deciced it’s too rigid. Limiting sugar, white flour, and starchy vegetables is the way to go for me.

    Someone really asked you that?! You shouldn’t ask a woman if she’s pregnant unless you actually see the baby’s head friggin’ CROWNING! And… why would she ask you anyway? You look amazing – id kill for your bangin’ bod!

    Paleo…….. It wouldn’t be too hard to limit dairy since it really doesn’t agree with me that much. But, I love my sprout bread (from Trader Joe’s) way too much to give that up. Otherwise, meat, vegetables, nuts and fruit seem okay, I could live with that. But I would also have to throw in my daily dose of 85% dark chocolate!

    I spotted Kitty in the background of the “chicken in a bag” photo. Love that cat!

    As far as Paleo, I don’t think I could ever fully do it. I have incorporated some Paleo recipes in my life just because, but I love oats and cheese way too much to say good-bye!

    My kids favorite bed time story is anything Thomas the Train right now. They’ve got a little obsession with him…

    Paleo…sounds good but I don’t think I could do it for numerous reasons. #1 is that I don’t really meat that often. My meals usually involve beans and legumes so I would be royally screwed. It can be done but I’m not willing to go that far. Oh, and I don’t want to give up grains either.

    Second I really hope you didn’t let that comment affect you. Your body is beautiful and even if it’s not perfect you have two perfect boys who I think are worth it. Any “flaw” you think you have makes you unique and beautiful. Which you are!

    I have learned to ignore others comments I actually got complimented when I was deep in my ED people actually praised my ED eating choices, imagine that. So I don’t let any comment affect me.

    And I could never go grain free. I am a carb loving girl. I will probably never have a 6 pack because of it, but it’s worth it to me 🙂 I’d rather be happy and eat my bread!

    Ha ha. Yah, paleo is definitely not for me. I don’t think I could get by bread-less. Not my thing. I find my brain gets too foggy without my oats/bred/oat bran. That is so uncalled for that someone asked you if you were preggo. Some people just don’t know how to interact with people properly ha ha. You look fabulous, so maybe that lady was just crazy;)
    Ooh, what was my fave bed time book…when I was younger I loved Jillian Jigs, like obsessed.

    I think virtually every woman has been asked at one time or another if she is pregnant, when she isn’t. Look at what the media does with stick-thin celebrities! It’s disgraceful. I am a fitness instructor too, and I’ve had the same thing happen. I also have a hernia/diastasis from my 2 pregnancies, but don’t really have the money lying around to get it fixed. You look incredibly fit and that lady probably just needs to have her head examined.

    I don’t like any commercial diets, personally, particularly those that are overly restrictive. I could never, ever, ever give up my whole grains!

    I have read your blog for awhile, but this is the first time I am commenting. I hope you know how awesome you look, and how inspirational you are. You absolutely, positively, 100% DO NOT look pregnant. In fact, you look more like you are prepping for a fitness competition. People are idiots……I will just leave it at that!

    I have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old and my son’s favorite book is Snuggle Puppy:-) It’s an absolute MUST HAVE!!!!

    People are rude. If you look pregnant then I look like I swallowed a whale:) You look fabulous! Don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.
    I tried strict paleo(whole 30) for a week and couldn’t stick with it. I have a hard time sticking to any type of healthy eating at the time.
    We just made a trip to the library so we’ve been reading lots of Halloween books. My 5 yr old is obsessed with Halloween.

    I look quite pregnant most of the time as well from my IBS. Paleo is helping but sometimes I still look very pregnant. I would never ask someone in public if they were pregnant because now I think, well maybe that’s just gas, lol.
