The Perfect Saturday- Egg Bake, New Reebok Gear, Protein and the First Red Cup

It just might be today. Maybe. Only if Judah finally decides to take a nap. Seriously, it’s like clockwork that when I leave the room and think I’ll get an hour of piece and quiet, this guy conveniently needs to use the bathroom for the third time.

Wait. It’s quiet. YES!!!!!

*edit- Never mind. He said he couldn’t sleep and is now “coloring” right beside me.

We did some damage at Souplantation last night. Yes we did.

2012-11-09 19.01.20

I kid you not the guy behind me in line was whispering to his friend about the size of my salad. I have no idea why.

2012-11-09 19.13.30

Ha ha ha.

And yes, I’m totally that girl that brings my own nutritional yeast, Cholula, hot seasoning and dressing to Souplantation. I’m just not a big fan of their dressings. The huge chunks of chicken in their soup, on the other hand, are fabulous.

This morning I put together this little egg bake concoction before boot camp.

IMG_5674

In the bowl:

3/4 cup egg whites

handful fresh spinach

Fuji apple, sliced

cinnamon

I mixed everything together and put it in a ramekin sprayed with nonstick spray and cooked it in the toaster over at 375 convection for I’m guessing 15-20 minutes or so.

Then I topped it with coconut oil and dug in.

IMG_5675

Um, yum. It was so easy and the perfect little protein snack.

So I got some new Reebok gear the other day in the mail.

IMG_5664IMG_5665

How cute are these new RealFlex Fusion TR?

These shoes are great for cross training. I wear my other Reebok RealFlex Fusion shoes all the time to teach classes (BOSU, HIIT, step, strength training, etc.). I think it’s important to wear sport specific shoes depending on the activity you’re doing. I tell my classes that all the time.

If you’re doing high intensity activities with lateral movement, then you need a shoe that supports that side to side motion. Running shoes are great for running, but it’s best to have a good pair of cross trainers for other indoor activities and training.

Here’s a little video on the RealFlex TR technology. Pretty darn cool.

RealFlex Technology.

Well, I am one lucky duck and got a cute little jacket to match the shoes.

This is the Play Dry Jacket from the Reebok Flex Collection Apparel. You can find it online with the complete description here.

Naturally, I could only wait about 24 hours before having to test out my new gear. I wore them to teach boot camp this morning.

IMG_5677

You know, trying to impress my friends.

IMG_5680

Hmm….. nice.

2012-11-10 09.11.58

Um….

2012-11-10 09.12.16

Well, that’s a little better I guess. I’m such a dork.

The jacket is super comfortable and I love that it has the little thumb holes.

2012-11-10 10.42.01

What did we ever do without those?

Here’s a closer look at the back.

2012-11-10 10.42.19

And a closer look at the fun shoes.

2012-11-10 10.45.59

Well, my new outfit must have impressed enough because one of my new boot camp ladies, Mandy, (who rocked it by the way this morning), was nice enough to give me this amazing container of Vega One.

2012-11-10 09.20.27IMG_5690

I decided against running and wrapping my arms around her since I want her to come back to boot camp and all, but I was so darn excited. It was like Christmas. I see some pumpkin protein cookie dough in my near future friends. Mmm……

Since I was on a roll and still wanted to show off my new outfit, I wore it to Starbucks for my first red cup beverage of the holiday season.

2012-11-10 09.54.46

Isn’t that first holiday drink just the best? Today’s order was a venti Americano with one Splenda and a little steamed soy just in case you care.

Smile

I went solo to pick up my race number for tomorrow and since you conveniently have to walk through the Road Runner Sports store afterwards to exit, I got a little side tracked.

2012-11-10 10.46.58

As a VIP and a race participant I got 20% off any purchase today. Fine. Twist my arm. I picked up a pair of Reebok CrossFit shorts.

2012-11-10 14.21.43

Oh hey, taking pictures of yourself in the mirror doesn’t work too well.

I tried to get a good shot of them for you.

Here’s the link to the shorts- CrossFit Chase Short 2.

Oh and I saw this the other day on instagram.

image

“My boyfriend” Bob designed his own Reebok Nanos.

Oh wait, that’s right. Yours truly gave him that card. Remember my last visit to LA?

2012-09-28 14.03.27

I had to ask him about it of course.

image

Aww….. I miss him.

Smile

Speaking of my best friend Bob, we took the BOB into the “stroller doctor” (bike shop) today for a little “check up” just in case the mood strikes tomorrow to run with the boys in the stroller. We’ll see how the morning turns out.

I’m fueling up though just in case. I just consumed an entire kabocha squash roasted with cinnamon, Trader Joe’s pumpkin pie spice and my favorite cocoa powder topped with GNC ice cream dream protein frosting, chia, PB2, peanut butter and two ingredient dark chocolate frosting.

IMG_5705

Hmm….. maybe not the best idea the day before a race. Oh well. I’m sure the loads of crushed red pepper I’m going to consume tonight won’t be either. Ha ha.

How’s your Saturday?

Do you get inspired to work out with new gear/clothes?

Have you had your a red cup Starbucks drink yet?

*I received the shoes and jacket from Reebok. I was not compensated for this post. All opinions are my own, as well as the decision to buy the shorts with my race discount. Oops, I better explain that to STUFT Daddy.

That sounds like a pretty great Saturday and those Reebok RealFlex’s are so preeeeeeettttty! And the jacket too. I definitely get inspired by new workout clothes. I was just thinking that I wasn’t motivated to workout and thus, maybe it’s time for some new gear. haha. My husband didn’t agree with my reasoning on that one. Oh well. Have an awesome Sunday!

I love that jacket! Love, love vega products too:-)

why is it if you load up a huge salad people make comments–yet if you did that with ribs, french fries and potato salad no one would comment?! Drives me nuts.

Enjoy the race tomorrow and have fun either solo or pushing the boys.

Holy Bright Shoes Boyfriend Bob! ;-)

Love the shoes and sweatshirt….and yes, now I even have to compliment your legs…geesh the definition …well, yes, I suppose you don’t win races/teach all those classes/eat protein and end up with fat….I guess that is the way to get the muscle I have been looking for.

    Rock that race tomorrow…

Wow! You never fail to impress. Loving it!
Random question, but since you’re the queen of all things CHIA, I thought you might be able to answer this. I recently ran into some ground/milled chia seeds and was wondering what difference it has in comparison to whole chia seeds. Are you familiar with this?
    Much thanks!

Girl–we are such food twins! I also love salads the size of my head. Actually my dinner always consists of an enormous veggie bowl in a huge mixing bowl. And yes–in college–people always smirked and whispered behind me at the salad bar at how crazy big my salads were. Oh well–it fills you up and it’s healthy right?
Also—I order the same Starbucks drink–love it! Venti Americano–except I bring with me a little tupperware container of almond milk to add to it and I add about 5 packets of equal. I know it’s bad–but otherwise it’s too bitter for me. How do you handle just one splenda? I wouldn’t be able to taste the sweetness with that? Hope you’re having a great weekend.
PS: The boys are getting huuge! They’ll be taller than you soon–lol :)

Love the shoes and the jacket. I need some new cross trainers — gotta try these for sure. I can relate about the salad. My family and I recently went out for pizza. I ordered the large salad with only mixed lettuce and veggies in it with oil and vinegar ( on side, of course) and the server asked “that’s just for you ?” With a shocked look on her face. We all laughed when she walked away … It was like I ordered a whole pizza with the works for myself. Keep,up the great posts. I have incorporated so many of your recipes for my snacks and meals. Vega is a great product! Please share your vega protein recipes.

You have no idea how many times I have gotten that comment. This last month it was a huge plate of steamed veggies and tofu. The gal next to me suggest I get a to-go box. I promised her this would be no problem. :)

I love that jacket! I always stretch out my long sleeves by pulling them around my hands. I’m freezing all the time.

    Kristen-
I just got my 1st pair of Reebok Real Flex Fusion shoes. Same as yours ( you’re my hero you know). I’m so excited & hoping they fit. I’ve never bought a pair of workout shoes without trying; but, they’re 30% off!!!!!!! Certainly worth the try. I’ve only worn running shoes, but my feet kill when I’m doing Insanity, so hoping these are great & they work. Thanks for the tip! Great timing!

Mmmm… pumpkin protein cookie dough sounds like a win to me! :) Glad you’re enjoying your weekend!

Love the jacket and the shorts! they look so comfy! And my husband always makes fun of the size of my salads….and the mushy combinations I eat (like oatmeal+almond butter+almond milk+chia seeds+cinnamon+flax). Haha!

  12. 12

you look so cute! love the shoes. I am actually in the market for new shoes.

and your kabocha squash bowl looks amazing!

  13. 13

I haven’t had a red Starbucks cup yet or even a holiday coffee. I think I maybe the only person to come out say this? Maybe I should change that this week and treat myself to something sweet and decadent. I’ll report back later. Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

Like the shoes. Love the jacket!

I may have missed something since I’m a newer reader but I just have to ask. Do you make your food as you go or do you have a bulk cooking day?

I spent Saturday rebranding my blog. Almost done. Had another idea this morning.

My dishes are red so I can have red drinks all year long. :-) I did read somewhere, didn’t quite get the details but something like this. If you show your Instagram photo of your Starbucks at Starbucks you can get a free drink. See if that works.

HAHAHA. I have totally had comments on my portions before, although usually by other women. In fact it happened just last month. :) I assured her I didn’t need a to-go box. :)

I love seeing everyone else’s gear and wishing I could get it! I see the red cups everywhere…soon…soon.
