So I can’t believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Holy smokes.

At one point I was in charge of cranberries, but I got taken off the list once our plans changed a bit. I’m spoiled. I also wait until the last minute to sign up on the sign up list and use having twins as an excuse a lot to bring the easy stuff. I wonder how long I can pull that off. I also wonder how long I’m even going to be invited to dinner. Ha ha. I really should surprise some people with bringing some kabocha squash. I’m sure that would go over well.

Like I wrote this morning, I told Joaquin if he kept his pants dry all morning at the gym that we could stop at Starbucks on the way home.

It didn’t happen. I don’t know who was more disappointed, as I was really craving some Starbucks. He had a really great rest of the day though so fingers crossed we’re making some progress here. I’m so over buying Pull Ups and washing load after load of laundry every day.

Anyhoo…

I pretended I had a Starbucks at home and whipped up a quick Café Americano in my cool cup.

I also roasted some kabocha squash.

Yeah, I topped that bad boy with low calorie peanut butter frosting, two ingredient dark chocolate frosting, Naturally More peanut butter and my new little GNC protein goo creation.

Two Ingredient GNC goo “Frosting”

1/2- 1 scoop GNC Vanilla Egg Protein Powder (17-34 g)

1-3 tablespoons unsweetened applesauce

Confession- I don’t really measure the applesauce. I just add enough applesauce to make a good consistency. Warning- only add a little bit at a time though and keep stirring. It can get too think really quickly. I have to say it blends up surprisingly well and is darn delicious.

The boys and I decided to have a little indoor picnic while watching Dancing With the Stars.

Yes, when mama doesn’t feel well we get to picnic inside and the boys get to eat grilled cheese sandwiches on the couch. Please don’t judge. Kitty, you too.

Oh, and I really think we could teach those DWTS finalists a thing or two. I mean, our dance party pretty much put them to shame. Ha ha.

I know I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll keep saying it, but I really love GNC Pro Performance® 100% Egg Protein – Vanilla Ice Cream. Besides topping my kabocha and sweet spaghetti squash with it lately, I even made an iced protein Café Americano with it the other day that I posted on Instagram. Since I don’t want some of you to feel left out or anything here it is.

Iced Protein STUFT Americano

brewed or prepared instant espresso (Starbucks instant packets work too)

1 cup cold water

1/2 cup ice

1/4-1/2 cup milk of choice (I use unsweetened almond milk)

1/2-1 serving GNC vanilla egg protein powder

1-2 sweetener packets (optional)

Blend the milk and protein powder together. (The Magic Bullet works great.) Put the espresso, cold water, sweetener packets (if using) and ice cubes in a glass. Top with the milk/protein powder blend.

Um yeah. Good stuff. I didn’t even add any sweetener because the protein powder has just enough already added to it.

Okay, so now the challenge.

Oh heck yes.

It’s a “Workout Before You Porkout” friends.

I stole the title from the YMCA where I teach. I usually teach at the special workout every year, but this year I’m not, so the next best thing was to come up with a challenge for you all.

Are you in?

GNCTDAYchallenge

The boys and I made this video of the workout for you last week.

It’s only 4 minutes and it can be done anywhere. As always the boys are causing a commotion in the background.

At one point Joaquin is even on my back as I try to do push ups. Lovely.

Here you go.

Work Out Before You Pork Out

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I hope to get a post up sometime during the day, but if not, enjoy every second with your family and friends, and of course with delicious food.

Happy Thanksgiving…I am enjoying some quiet time at 5:10 am before the family gets up and we get dressed and prepare to head to downtown Mpls. for our 5k (family) Turkey Trot…festivities start at 7am so we want to get down there and take it all in. ;-) freebies? maybe?

However, later one after we get home, have pancakes and while the prime rib is baking I may surprise the family with your porkout challenge…could be interesting and fun!

Have a great day …I am thankful for your blog, great exercise tips/videos, recipes, and laughs!

Ha. Yes, I bet it didn’t go to waste. I wish I was asked to bring squash. I got out of bringing anything. LOL. What kind of squash did you end up doing Becky?

    Sara Grambusch says:

Kabocha could totally be normal thanksgiving food, it’s just squash. Maybe not with your frosting though ;) I’m gonna go ahead and not do those burpees, lol. Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you for the challenge, I will do that when I am more awake because it is a combo I love (I love all things burpees) although those frog jumps kill me every time.

PS. nothing like punishing yourself with your incentive plan for a child’s dry pants. :)

    Have a great day!

Holy moly. Just did the workout. I thought a minute of frog jumps was rough…then there was starbursts. :) Or maybe it is just trying to follow with starbursts. Loved it. Nice and energized and will do again. Note to self again…need minute timer.

I had to watch the video with no sound because I can’t find my earbuds. It is so funny to see you keep going as if the kids aren’t having fun around you. And when you need to just incorporate what they’re playing with in the workout. Too cute!

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

This post was great! I love how your kids are always in the videos…they crack me up. I typically do those kinds of workouts at home when I don’t have as much time for a run or cycling workout; it really gets your heart rate up and makes your work.
