Green With Wasabi and a Few Other Things


Friday workout:

Ran 7.39 miles on the treadmill- After a mile warm up I did 4 x 400 repeats at a 6:31 pace with .25 mile recovery in between sets. Not that you care, but it was tough for me to try to get motivated for a little speed work, but once it was done I was really glad I did it. I haven’t ran fast in awhile and am trying to fit some harder runs back in.


Then I ran a little over a mile with these two hoodlums.


They were begging for a little jogging lap and a ride to the “John Deer” playground so they could play in the “spider web”. They got exactly what they wanted.


I had a few shoe changes along the way. Some slippers to the gym,

and then Elixir 7 shoes for the stroller jog.


I totally have to change my shoes depending on how far or where I’m running.



We started out the day yesterday trying to get some more green food back in the boys’ meals. I made them some mean green French toast. (Note- I use regular eggs and regular sugar in the recipe when making it for the boys.)


It looked and smelled so good I made myself some too.


Something about warm breakfast with syrup in the morning is just so great, isn’t it?


I know I said I wasn’t going to show you any more sweet roasted kabocha squash pictures, but I just have to show you yesterday’s masterpiece. My excuse is because it also had a roasted apple and sweet spaghetti squash on there. Trying to change it up you know.

Isn’t that magnificent? It was heaven on a glass plate for sure. Toppings were Chocolate NuttZo, chia, low calorie peanut butter frosting and GNC ice cream dream protein frosting


I used the rest of the roasted spaghetti squash for dinner with a ginormous fish taco bowl.


I had a little trouble choosing what hot sauce and salsa to use so ended up using a little of almost each one of these.


Ha ha ha. That’s not even all of the ones from the fridge.


So….. wasabi.

I still need to figure out how to suck up to a local sushi joint to get my hands on some fresh wasabi, but for now I’ve got a few things I’m super excited about.

I found this trail mix at Trader Joe’s the other night.


It should be good on a salad or something, right?

And, um, my friend Jessica not only sent me some Starbucks coffee, but she sent me this little chocolate wasabi gem too.


I can’t wait to dig into it.


I also found this wasabi mustard recently at our local market.


I used it on a Morning Star veggie burger salad


and on some not that exciting tuna wraps with my leftover Swiss chard.


I’m not sure how much I like it just yet.


Speaking of green, I got my Pro Compression February socks of the month along with a new pair of pink argyles in the mail.


This girl can never have enough compression socks or Handful bra pads.


Ha ha ha.


Okay, I gotta run. Off to teach boot camp and then a little family trip to the Women’s Half Marathon expo. That should be fun for everyone. Ha.


Um and yeah, I’m a little green with envy too because STUFT Daddy is still sound asleep in bed this morning.

    Love those sock! I did 7 1/2 this morning with my plain old white compression socks but paced at 8:10! Oh and I bought a ton of Kabocha yesterday– a bit overload but oh well!! There are worst things in life Have a great weekend! We are off to play in the snow

    i never get sick of seeing your sweet kabocha squash bowls ahha! i had one myself today – it was unrealllll! its an even more special treat for me cause i dont get them that often near me!
    you sure have a few jars of salsa/hot sauce too ahha!!

    Wow – you like hot sauce for sure!! I’m a total spice wimp – I only buy mild stuff. My boys like to add Wasabi to their mixtures when we do Raclette. (I just have it in a jar – none fresh around here that I’ve found.)

    Oh man, I think you’re going to love what I made for a quick appetizer the other night–super simple, and I’m going to post about it next week. It was roasted beets in a wasabi dipping sauce! Love all the squash–somehow the pictures never get old because it always looks so darn good! 🙂

    Ok so sweet dumpling squash– it’s so delectable– thats the right word. It’s so sweet yet very mild and light in texture. I absolutely love it and so does the family–I roast it in a bit if coconut oil. We eat it skin and all! Good luck finding some! E

    i got those socks of the month in the mail the other day too! love them. there is just something about compression socks that make your legs feel so good. and i figure the more ridiculously bright they are, the better!

    We just watched Cars 2 (again)….don’t mix up your Wasabi with the Pistachio ice cream…”It’s Turnnnnned!” According to Mater that is…..hahahah!! Now, please tell me you have seen the movie right??? Otherwise, I just quoted a Disney movie for nothing…oh, well any thing quoted from Disney can’t be too wrong. 😉

    I’m a Brooks girl currently but you’re really sparking my interest in Mizuno. I overpronate when I run though, any suggestions for the type of Mizuno that could work for me?

      They have a lot of support shoes. That’s what I wear because I overpronate too. Depends on how much support you want. I would say inspires or Nirvanas for your first pair. 🙂 Or Elixirs if you want something lighter.
