Workout: Taught a boot camp class
So yeah, I had the bright idea of taking the whole family to the expo today. Why not, right? The boys love “picking up mommy’s race packet”. I was pretty sure STUFT Daddy felt the same way.
I was wrong. I was also wrong in telling him that I’d be in and out really quickly.
Oops.
I picked up my number for the Women’s Half Marathon first thing. When I turned around to have the hubs take a picture, they were no where to be seen. So I found someone else for the job. .
I got a text they were going to wait for me outside since I was just going to walk through really quick. The expo was pretty small, but not small enough for me to make a timely exit. Shocker.
The goodie bags were pretty cute.
So were some of the shirts, although I did not buy any new clothes.
I ran into a couple friends though.
KJ was working the Women’s Running Series Half Marathon booth.
She was pretty popular and everyone wanted a picture with her.
Then I ran into Melissa who’s running tomorrow too.
There were just a few other distractions in route to the exit.
I had to stop the The Stick booth and confess to them that although I got a Sprinter Stick at the Runner’s World Expo, I have yet to use it.
I need to get on that.
Then I HAD to stop at the Pro Compression booth. Duh.
I thought I was going to be all cool tomorrow and wear my new Socks of the Month, but they were selling like hot cakes there so I guess I won’t be original. Ha.
Hmm…. maybe I’ll have to wear a different color.
I really was on my way out when I just had to look at these shades.
I needed new running sunglasses in the worst way. I lost my good pair at America’s Finest Half Marathon and hadn’t replaced them.
So…….
I made friends with the nice Oculus Eyewear people and decided I needed a new pair.
They have some pretty nice sunglasses for very reasonable prices. $20 for regular and $29 for polarized with a bunch of different styles to choose from.
They also sell some pretty cute little charms that go on your shoe laces. They’re called “Sole Charming”. Fun, huh?
Well, after a couple phone calls and a few texts from my main man, I finally made my way out of there.
Of course these guys weren’t tired, hungry and super annoyed with me or anything. Ha ha.
We still had to stop for a quick picture in front of the hotel and pretend we were high rollers.
I had to butter STUFT Daddy up because I wanted him to let us stop at Costco on the way home. Nothing butters a man up better than a little Mexican food and a Bloody Mary, right?
I’m sure some seriously spicy Mexican food was a really good call to eat before a race too. I’m so smart sometimes.
So, that’s that. We made it to Costco, but there was no picture taking involved. Not on a Saturday. We barely got out of there in once piece.
So, I’m resting a bit, hydrating with a little Nuun kona cola concoction
and carbing up with some sweet roasted kabocha squash.
I’ve got my two new pairs of shades for racing ready to go.
I’m pretty darn excited about them. They seem like they’re going to stay put with these little nose grippers. Those are key for me and running glasses.
I’ll be trying them out tomorrow, even though the race is so early I may not need sunglasses now that I think about it.
Oh well.
At least I’ll be making my new Elixir 8s all fancy and stuff with these little “Sole Charming” beauties.

Fun.
If you have any questions about the Oculus Eyewear or Sole Charming you can contact Emily at emelizajo22@gmail.com .
See you after the race tomorrow. Have a great night!
Do you have different sunglasses for running and regular day wear?
*I chatted long enough with the nice people at Oculus enough that I was given a pair of their sunglasses to review. I purchased the other pair on my own.

And now I am kicking myself for not stopping at the Oculus booth. I saw them and determined not to stop. I wish I had because my pink Ryder’s don’t match every outfit. Priorities, you know?
Good seeing you there!!
Ha. Yes priorities. I actually love my sunglasses! Perfect for running. I’ve been wearing them everyday.
GOOD LUCK TOMORROW!
Umm…how can we be BFFs when I didn’t even know you were racing!??!?! WTH? HA =)
xoxo
Ha. Your races surprise me too friend.
Well, I have been looking for a “normal priced” pair of sunglasses that stay on while running and sweating…I hope you wear them and give a review as to how they did and then maybe some new ones will be coming my way too. THanks!!
Have fun!!
I really love them Kathy. I’ve been wearing them every day.
You are so cute! Good luck today
Good luck today friend!! You’ll rock it I’m sure!
Hope you had fun – I am sure you did!!! What a fun post!
I love sunglasses and actually have a couple pairs. I am a big fan of my women Oakley’s for running and casual wear, but I actually have 2 fashionable pairs. GASP! I know something that doesn’t have to deal with activewear. HAHA! Good luck with the race and I went to Costco today and seriously love that place. Did you know they now sell chia???
Costco sells chia????
PS: I sent you a email about Quaker Oats. Let me know if you got it, when you have a free moment. XOXO
I love Expos too! I could walk around the smallest one chatting it up with people all day!
I’ve only been to San Diego once, but when we went we visited Old Town and I LOVED it! I knew I recognized the restaurant you went to for dinner… right past it is Cafe Coyote, with the little ladies making fresh tortillas outside, and those things are the bomb! You can’t get good, REAL Mexican food like that here in FL
Oh, I know, that is our favorite place.
Our friends work there so we get some drink hook ups sometimes. He he.
I have never worn sunglasses or a visor when running. I think it’s really smart though but I feel like I would get bothered by them
I think you just have to find comfortable ones.
