Holy smokes. So much for Sunday being a rest day around here. We have been a bit busy. Lots to share, but right now since I’m limited on time, exhausted and we have some leftover pizza and wine waiting, I’ve got a fun little dump for you.
Yesterday I did something pretty darn fun.
I baked a Quest Bar (chocolate peanut butter flavor) at the same time I baked a Flatout cinnamon crisp bowl. Then smashed it in the bottom like so.
The bar was all gooey on the inside and a bit crunchy on the outside. I should’ve just eaten it out of the oven warm like that, but instead I smashed it and topped it with creamy dreamy ice cream.
I’m not going to complain though, it was one heck of a snack.
I also made not one, but two pretty mean homemade vegetarian pizzas last night. One with cheese for STUFT Daddy
one without cheese and extra red pepper and jalapeños for mwah.
Same pre race meal like 10 times now. Ha.
Yep we had a very early start to the day. I ran the San Diego Half Marathon for the second year in a row this morning and for the second year in a row it was the very same morning when we changed our clocks ahead. How convenient.
Despite the time change, the race went well. It was a beautiful day and the course was awesome.
I really like this race. They changed it a bit this year and I’ll be sure to write up a full recap tomorrow, but I finished in 1:31:47, got 5th in my age group and made sure to do a little grocery shopping.

The family came along so we made sure to hit up the family fun zone there too.
Then we went out to breakfast afterwards to a little local spot, Hacienda de Vega.
Um, why yes, I had the biggest, spicy Bloody Mary ever.
Totally can’t even remember the last time I had a Bloody Mary. It was probably on our honeymoon.
This one was pretty awesome.
I went with the Huevos a la Mexicana.
Andrew went with chorizo (I think, I can’t remember exactly), the boys went for pancakes and bacon.
Yes, I’m always a member of the clean plate club.
There was no resting when we got home. As soon as I was showered and in my recovery outfit, we were on the hunt to find a slide for a certain tree house (minus the tree) project.
Yeah, they said “no chicks allowed”, but then told me to find them a slide. I decided to be nice though since I forced them all to go to the race earlier. The least I could do was find them a slide on Craigslist. And that I did.
And we picked it up on our way to a little party.
A party that I wore that recovery outfit under my pants.
Ha ha ha.
The little shindig was the boys first piñata experience.
They made out pretty well.
Oh, and then we did the slide when we got home. We ALL helped.
It was darn heavy and I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to lift my arms tomorrow.
But, it was a success and we now have one cool tree house complete with a double slide in our backyard.
And friends, it has been one heck of a day.
I’m so ready for wine.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend!
What was the best thing you did?
Yeah, they said “no chicks allowed”, but then told me I had to find them a slide.

You’re

Rockstar.
What a fun day!
Aww…… no, but thank you.
Happy Monday!
I did the 5k and was waiting for friends to finish the hald and I saw you come blazing by. I didnt recognize you until I read your bib! Great job! And looks like a fun backyard project! the boys will get years of use out of that!!
Oh yay Amanda! How was the 5K?
Awesome day! I have some Flatout’s and I’m dying to make that cinnamon bowl! Looks amazing.
woo-hoo! What an amazing day! Nice work! Love your recipes and fitness fashion. And a double slide is perfect for you guys!
We had a baby-filled weekend. No kids ourselves, but the hubby and I have a blast babysitting. We watched a baby & toddler Friday night. We faked it on Facebook that we were letting them watch Road Warrior (with Mel Gibson) and taught the toddler to answer answer “Mad Max!” when asked what movie he watched. We’re awesome baby sitters.
Sounds like a fun weekend Lexy!
That’s so awesome that you guys got the boys a slide for their tree house! They must think they have the coolest parents ever!:)
Congrats on the run! As far as blood mary’s go, the spicier the better!! And I always ask for an extra pickle.
I didn’t even get a pickle- just a huge olive.
Congratulations!!! You are so fast!! I will never be able to run that fast so I have to live it through you. ha!
The best thing I did this weekend was rescue a puppy….my life was consumed with getting him settled and used to everything.
Awesome that you rescued a puppy Amy! Hope all goes well settling him in.
very cool treehouse and slide….score!!
Ha. That’s what we keep saying- “we scored”.
Wow…that bloody mary looks crazy! You totally deserve it…great job on the race!
Hahaha, no chicks…welcome to my world! Sounds like you had an incredible day my friend! Congrats on the run! I’m so happy for you! I hope you have an incredible week! Big hugs to you my friend! xoxo
Big hugs right back at you Sarena!!! And yes, I think this is just the beginning of “no chicks”. I’m in for it.
That dessert bowl sounds divine! And congrats on 5th place! Your boys are so precious. The best thing I did was drink wine, lots of it- and relax on the couch with it after a long weekend of work.
Drinking wine is one of the best things ever, isn’t it?
im making those cinnamon crips tonight, although I need to get that pan so I can make the bowl so I can stuff it with tons of goodie protein desserts like you did! I love all your recipes!
Lady, you killed it! 1:31 is amazing. Congrats to you!
Thanks friend.

Me too- anything spicy is good in my book!
That slide is awesome! I’m 23 years old….can I still say that?
Of course! I can’t wait to try it out. LOL.
Great job on the half! Love your little boys, what a good momma to get them that awesome slide
How neat you found a double slide! And congrats on your latest race…with a time change none the less, that is when you do want the route to be good. Have a great week.
Thanks Samantha!!! Hope you had a great weekend too! Any new projects over there?
I am knitting more than quilting these days and begging the weather to stop raining so I can do more outside! Final at the end of this week so it will be a study week. Nothing too exciting unfortunately.
Congrats mama on an ah-maaazing race!!
You’re a really speedy chica! You’re going to fly on the streets of Boston. Good luck at LAM on Sun. It’s one of my favs! It looks like the weather is going to be nice too. The camarederie & course is awesome. If you catch up to Mrs. Deena Kastor please tell her I said “hello!!”
love the boys new slide! soo fun!!
Thanks Pam!!!!! I’ll try to hunt down your friend Deena and tell her hi! He he! Nice job to YOU yesterday!!!!
thank you!!
Holy speedy lady! Congrats! Congrats! Definitely deserves a big spicy Bloody Mary. And that is one awesome tree-less tree house. Love it. Makes me wish we had a backyard. And like you, being the only chick in the house, I have heard my fair share of “no chicks allowed.” Fun, no?
I feel like Sunday’s always end up being so busy because of the rest of the weeks stuff gets pushed to that “day off”.
Congrats on an awesome race, and what looks to be like a great weekend! Hope you got that wine, you sure as hell earned it!!
Did you like the half marathon? I can’t wait to hear more about it!!
First of all…how did they get those pancakes so fluffy? I want them NOW. Two…love that you are member of the clean my plate club. Whenever I go out to eat oh wait who am I kidding, whenever I eat, I always clean my plate. Three…congrats on the race! XO
Congratulations on such a great race! You are amazingly fast.
And I love that double slide…so perfect. What a great find.
Here in New York the temperature got above 40 so I spent the day outside walking and sitting and enjoying the “warm” weather. It was nice just to have it not be snowing and cold out.
Congrats on such a great race! You so speedy!!!
You rock it!! Honest – after that Quest bar pic, I kinda lost concentration!
Saw their booth at the show. Got a banana bar – I found them toward the end & they were out of everything!
Wow, procuring slides for the lil’ guys on race weekend. Kristin, you are such a cool mom.
BTW, congratulations on SD, and wishing you continued successes at the LA race. For us, we did a whole lot of nothing this weekend (not that I don’t like being at home per se), but I did manage to get in a long run in prep for a hoped-for half-marathon (my first). Sadly, though, our littlest came down with the flu yesterday, so that was part of the weekend experience–but before that happened, at least we all got outside for fun in the sun on Saturday afternoon.
Oh man, hope your little one feels better soon! So sorry Leigh.
Great job on the race. That slide is awesome, and so great that they can slide together. Just in case the little angels would fuss over one..haha. Now you can film some workouts and they can slide and squirt their water bottles. I didn’t know they made those slides anymore. Get them some waxed paper and they will be flying down. Anyone remember that?
Ha. That would be awesome!!!!
EXCELLENT job (as always) in the race. I think having the boys go to packet pickup was a good luck charm.
