Check out all the information for week 11 of the challenge here.
Congratulations to all of you who have made it this far. Eleven weeks is a long time and you should be proud of yourself.
Today I get to reveal the surprise Saturday workout, chat a bit about how I travel with healthy options and share some inspiration for living healthy.
Here’s the workout first.
Hope you can handle that one. Ha ha.
I actually love workout days like these. In fact, my workout yesterday was pretty much just that. It was unplanned, but a welcome change of pace. Days where you can choose whatever activity YOU enjoy and love and just get to move your body are the best. My personal favorite for leisurely paced cardio days is to get on the elliptical and read a health and fitness magazine while watching a reality TV show on the TV. It’s a little “me time”.
Well, I was out of town this past weekend for the LA marathon and it made me think about how sometimes it’s more difficult to make good decisions when you’re on the road. There are so many other factors that tie in: you’re tired from traveling, food choices are limited, there’s more temptations, etc.
I always have some kind of emergency snacks with me anywhere I go and it’s even more important to have my stash when I’m on the road for longer trips. I realized it’s just one more reason to love all the Total Lean products from GNC. I love them at home, but I just might love them even more in my bag while I’m traveling.
Here’s a few things that went with me this past weekend.
I make sure to always have some Total Lean Breakfast squares in my bag. I really like these. They’re a bit on the smaller side, but are great for a quick snack. A couple of seconds in the microwave (or just a few hours sitting in your purse for a bit) to get them a little warm and they are fabulous. He he. Who needs Cinnabon when you have these Iced Cinnamon Bun breakfast squares?
I know I’ve talked about the Total Lean Vanilla Shake before (Cake Batter Protein Shake and Total Lean Protein Vanilla Latte), but in my opinion, these really are the best tasting ready to go protein drinks I’ve had.
And this is how I make the easiest protein latte ever in a pinch on the road.
I just add the instant coffee right in the bottle and shake it up.
Yep. Good stuff.
Or, sometimes if I’m not in the mood for caffeine, I just drink them plain. I sucked one down on my way home from the marathon on Sunday.
Nice Halo visor line on my forehead, huh?
Oh, and it might just be me, but I think it’s pretty darn awesome that they even have a special Total Lean Bender Bottle?
They also have some single serving packets of their Total Lean Shake Protein drink mixes. I really want to get my hands on some of the vanilla ones. They would be perfect for traveling and mixing up in that Bender Bottle.
Supplement wise, I always have my Women’s Wellness Vitapak with me for my morning vitamins too.
So, really quickly, just because it’s nearing the end of the challenge and it’s important to keep living healthy after the challenge is over, I wanted to share a little something I heard recently on a podcast.
It was a Jillian Michael’s podcast where she said that it’s important to keep reminding yourself WHY you’re making healthy changes. WHY you are choosing not to eat that huge plate of nachos or WHY you’re getting on the elliptical when you’d rather just sit on the couch.
It’s important to tell yourself the reasons behind your choices. The reasons WHY you want to be a better person and make changes towards a healthy lifestyle.
I like to keep a little motivational notebook. Actually, I have quite a few notebooks, but one is specifically for notes when I need a little inspiration. I write down all the reasons WHY I do what I do and why I want to make decisions to be the best person I can be. Succeeding in something is a choice. you CAN do it, you just need to make up your mind that you will and keep reminding yourself WHY.
It’s nice to have things written down when you feel like throwing in the towel.
My personal inspiration for healthy living comes from a few different things and people.
When I’m looking at the bigger life picture, my inspiration is my family and my boys. I want to be the best mommy I can be and set a good example for them. When I take care of myself and make better choices, I’m just a nicer person to be around. I also feel that it’s really important to live by example. I try to remind myself of that daily. I want to be proud of how I live each day and proud of the example I’m giving my kids, clients and friends.
When I’m looking at other personal athletic goals, I get inspiration from other athletes and elite runners. I fell into my passion for running later in life. I’m getting old friends, but that doesn’t make me love running any less. I also know that there may be a day when I can’t run anymore, so I feel like it’s my duty to run hard while I can.
If you really want to do something, go for it. You can do anything you want if you want it bad enough. You’re going to have to work at it, but don’t let hard work stop you.
Things in life do not come easy. Change is hard. Making good decisions and working at a healthy lifestyle is difficult. But, the more you work at it and the more good decisions you make, the easier leading a healthy lifestyle becomes.
Okay, I’m out. Have a wonderful day!
What inspires you?
WHY do you want to lead a healthy life?
