Fitness Friday- Fashion, A Workout (Video) and a Giveaway


Hey! Good morning.

I’m supposed to be running the Ragnar SoCal race with the Nuun Hydration team right now. Let’s not go there though. No pity parties today. Nope. Not going to happen.

I will, however, be going to my first physical therapy appointment while they run.



Thursday Workout:

(wearing all my new gear- details to follow)

AM- Taught a BOSU class (HIIT style).


PM- Taught a Y50X class (HIIT style) and strength training class.

Elliptical for 20 minutes.

So I’m a little excited to be posting a video. It’s been a good distraction. Yes, I realize I may be the only one excited about this (besides my boys of course), but hey, it’s been awhile and we’ll see how it goes, yes?


A little fashion chat first.

I got this package of awesome Reebok workout wear the other day.


Workout gear is always deeply appreciated here. Even more so the other day to get my mind off things. Huge bonus for having the gear picked out for you and getting it delivered instead of doing your own retail therapy late at night on your own. That juts takes too much time and it’s a little dangerous.

All my new attire is from the Reebok ONE Apparel line.

I’m really glad they sent me a black tank. Black has become my new favorite color these days and I’m convinced you can never have too may black workout tanks. It’s just so forgiving and doesn’t show sweat and dirt.

This is the PWR Seamless Long Bra Top.


I love the wide straps and the long length. Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, their PlayDry technology is no joke.

Um, and how cute is that fun back design?

Love capri pants, especially for warmer weather when you don’t want full length pants, but are doing a little too much lunging and jumping for shorts (I’ve made that mistake before).

So cool that I had to put them on right away. (I did at least go in the house to change.)


STUFT Daddy (my photographer) was questioning the bottom of the pants and asking why one was black and the other was not. He must not know that that’s the “in” thing right now. He he.

It’s also the “in” thing to wear sunglasses in the shade


and have motivational print all down your leggings.


They are super comfortable. Not too heavy, not too light and very form fitting. I’m picky about leggings and I usually can’t pull them off, but I’m a big fan of these ones already.

I wore the tank two days in a row. I wore it Wednesday and then again yesterday for my classes.

At least I changed pants though and went for the capris.

I wore those capris all day long. They were super comfortable and you can’t tell, but you can hike them up really high if you want to try to hide your belly button or tummy. Huge plus!



Moving on.

Time for a fun little workout.


I may not be able to run or lunge right now, but I’m lucky that I can still do jumping jacks and burpees pretty much pain free.

And, YOU are lucky too because we get to do them together.


Here’s a workout you can try at home. Super quick. Two moves. Less than ten minutes. No equipment necessary. I’m pretty sure my friend Bob would approve.

They also both love jumping jacks. (Obviously, who doesn’t?)

All the random workout equipment you see laying around was brought outside by them because they really wanted Mommy to do a complete workout. Funny.

    I love this quick workout I found on Pinterest, you can go for as many rounds as you need or have time for (recommended 3-5 x through). It gets tough though!

    My fav workout when pressed for time: I set my gymboss timer for 50/10 usually 15 rounds….totally random things like high knees, air squats etc….I just make it up as I go!
    Fav. part of your video is the boys doing burpees, I think they should be featured on “your best friend Bob’s” next video!

    My favorite quick workout is to tabata things! My favorite combo so far has been a jumprope/kettlebell tabata.

    I love leggings and tank tops. Marshall’s/TJ Maxx are my favorite places to snag tank tops. So many cute designs!

    If I”m crunched for time I do any combination of jjacks, burpees, high knees, jump-rope, squats, situps, and pushups. I do one thing for a minute and switch it up for at least 10 or 15 minutes. works great!

    My favorite quick workout lately has been jumping on my kid’s trampoline for 20 mins outside. I listen to loud music, do high knees, lunge jumps, jumping jacks, side to side jumps etc. to make the time pass.

    My favorite exercise clothing is legging/capris because I can wear them pretty much anywhere either dressed up or dress down. My favorite part of the video was watching Waquine (sorry I totally butchered his name) try to do jumping jacks. Too cute!     You are good at burpees! My burpees are super slow, I need to do them more often, I have super long and super weak arms, I still do push ups on my knees! I did a 14 and an 11 mile run this week and some shorter runs with the dogs, but I didn’t get any good endorphins after the longer two runs! I don’t know what is going on, I usually feel great after runs like that, maybe you are better off with burpees, but really, I hope the PT appt helps you. Favorite gear is my Ultimate Direction pack and an old Mtn Hardwear lightweight wind shirt for running. Reebok really hooks you up! I love black too and that outfit looks great on you, nice tank and fancy leggings!

    My fav workout is always running no matter what! I do a few other things.. Weights,elliptical, etc… But they dont compare to my love of running! Like you though im dealing with a stupid injury.     5 Pull ups(I use an assist band)
    10 push-ups
    15 squats

    20 min. AMRAP. Love it!

    LOVED the Video! It is a great reminder that you can get a tough workout in, in less then 10 minutes and you DON’T need a fancy gym to do so. This would be a great workout if you were out of town, etc. It was also quite entertaining when you said, “That doesn’t feel very good.” when you got whipped in the leg by the jump rope. Followed by, “If you do that again…” I’m a first grade teacher and I have been there and said those same words MANY TIMES! 🙂

    My favorite fast workout is 2 mile run, what I call my “balls to the wall” 2 miler. Super simple: lace up and run one mile as fast as you can turn around and run the last mile home even faster! You are kind of dying at the end and it feels so good 😉

    My favorite workout is a foam roller warm up that I do for most of my Pilates students. It’s a great quick workout, warms up your core, and releases your spine beautifully.     I don’t have a single quickie workout that is my favorite, but my favorite move is the burpee. I always work those into my quick workouts since they are a full body movement. Actually, I do something like your video but make it 5 or 6 rounds of 10 burpees and 50 jumping jacks.

    LOVING the tights! My time pressed workout is any combo of push ups, planks, lunges and burpees. Sometimes I throw some jump rope in there, too. That video looked painful and I can’t wait to try it once my quads recover from Boston. They are shred up! My favorite piece of workout clothing has to be the bra. A good bra makes or breaks the workout/ run/ whatever. Random, but how are jerky sales?

    I usually just troll your blog, and when I saw the tights giveaway, I ruled them out as something I don’t wear, but now I can’t stop thinking about them. I lost 60 lbs last year, and I keep forgetting I can wear ridiculous things no–ridiculous things like patterned tights. Anyways, HRG got me on 8 minute abs video, and I usually end up doing it a couple times, with some sun salutations. Not a bad quick workout when a real one isn’t going to happen. I’ll also go to the parking garage down the street and run the stairs until I get to 100 flights. It’s really unpleasant, but it doesn’t take too long.

    When I am pressed for time, there is a short 2 mile circle that I run around my neighborhood. Sometimes its hard to fit in a run after work, but this one is short, fast, and still leaves me feeling like I’ve done something because part of that 2 miles is a MONSTER hill!

    I love HIIT when I am pressed for time! Also- I subbed the TVP for the oats in the oat bites, except used 2 tbsp instead of 1/4th of a cup! I am sure 1/4th of a cup would work too with more liquid! I also used only about 1 tbsp of syrup.

    Love this video, so cute. You are a great role model for the boys, like seriously. You eat healthy and work out and those are great things to get kids started at a young age. Kudos on that! I think my favorite part is when one of the boys walks away and the other keeps doing the burpees next to you, facing same direction is you. It’s a “I wanna be like mama” type of moment adorable.!

    My favorite workout when I am pressed for time is any quick circuit like this. I like pyramids (10-1 or 1-10) , and I will mix up what I do for the exercises (I love kettlebell swings, side bends, mountain climbers and jump roping).

I have a lot of space in my living room so I move around the room like a complete freak pretending I’ve made it to the gym… 1 min at each station, repeat until I run out of time and have to have the worlds fastest shower in order to make it places on time!

    ‘Station’ 1) Burpeeees
    ‘Station’ 2) Russian Twists with dumbbells
    ‘Station’ 3) Tricep dips (from my pretty low (and apparently pretty sturdy coffee table)
    ‘Station’ 4) Squats with weights
    ‘Station’ 5) Plank

    And if I have a spare few minutes before I have to be somewhere, I love to plank for as long as I can and try to build on my personal best times…
