The Big Sur Expo

The Big Sur Expo

Good Morning!

Tuesday Workout:

AM- Taught a BOSU class at the gym

PM- Jogged a slow 6.73 miles (1 hour 3 minutes)

Did my PT exercises and a couple other squats and resistance band work for about 10 minutes

My run was totally off yesterday. It was hard. my pace was slow. It didn’t feel that great on my leg, my breathing was off, but it felt good to just have some running shoes on and sweat it out outside.

I just wanted to move a bit and do a little test to make sure I could pull off the Golden Gate Relay I’m headed to this weekend with Runner’s World and belVita.

We shall see…….

Okay, so back to a little Big Sur Marathon chat.

Really, everything single thing about this race was just awesome.

Packet pick up was a breeze, even with all my indecisive issues. They had it located upstairs. All the volunteers were so helpful making sure we knew exactly what to do race morning.

We even got to meet up with Julie, the amazing Marketing Communications Director who showed us around a bit.

The actual expo seemed smaller and not overly crowded which was nice. Some expos are just way too much.

Right as you entered there was a tribute banner to sign in honor of Boston.

I already told you about all the cool new friends we met at the expo in my other post, but just in case you missed it Tina and I are best buds with Dean Karnazes now.

Dang that guy is an inspiration.

We also hit up the Nuun booth right away.

We had to suck up as much cherry limeade as possible, which reminds me, I need to order some more kona cola Nuun as soon as possible.

Obviously I had to chat up the All Whites Egg Whites men and tell them my obsession with egg whites and huge jugs of them.

They were not impressed, but they did talk me into entering a contest to win a year supply of their egg whites. I’m still checking my email every hour to see if I’m the lucky winner. How cool would that be?

Besides the Mizuno booth and the coolest jewelry booth ever,

(click here for a special discount code on Endure jewelry)

other fun vendors we found at the expo were Ghirardelli,

(I had my eyes on this belt)

The Stick

(dang it, where is mine?)

and Running Skirts.

Christy from Running Skirts is so so nice, by the way.

Before we headed out, we made sure to befriend the cool race announcer, Rudy. He’s from San Diego too and announces races all over the place, even the Disney ones. Yeah, he’s a pretty big deal.

We also got a couple runner’s united pins

and some pictures by the cool scenery

and of course, by the finish line.

Hey look, just the finish time we were aiming for.

I bumped into my high school friend Jennifer and roped her into crossing the finish line with me too.

She ran the marathon with her Dad. I bet they rocked it.

What’s your favorite part about race expos?

The samples, fitness finds, gear, chocolate……

Free Samples!! (The expos I have been to don’t have celebrities to take pics with … and I have never seen some one I knew at an expo…weird huh?)

I’ve never been to a big expo but I would love to check out all those samples! By the way, I totally can’t find my stick right now & I really need it. It disappeared during a post-Christmas cleaning frenzy. That’ll teach me.

Most of the expo recaps I see make everything look so crowded and jostly that they don’t look like much fun at all :/ But this expo doesn’t look like that, which makes me about a million times more in love with it 🙂 Those plaid running skirts are just too cute, by the way!
