The Weather is Changing, So Are My Vitamins and My Salad Dressing

At the gym- 20 minutes on the dreaded stair mill, 20 minutes on the elliptical, 30 minutes of a spin class

Did the whole purple theme thing for Mother’s Day and all.

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day yesterday some quality time in with those you love.

I told STUFT Daddy not to get me anything. He got me these.

I’m so spoiled. Those plus my wonderful new pictures, it was the perfect day.

I always like to start things on Mondays. New charts, new lists, new goals, etc. I can never start something in the middle of the week. is anyone else like that?

Anyhoo…

We’re starting some new GNC vitamins over here.

IMG_2620

I’m a fan of the Vitapaks as they come in easy packs and have a whole program into one. I’ve been taking the Women’s Wellness ones for awhile, but am switching over to the Women’s Active Vitapaks to see if I like them better.

They have more joint cushioning support (perfect for my hip issue), energy and metabolism blend, calcium, L-carnitine and CLA. We’ll see.

I didn’t want the boys to feel left out so they got some new GNC kid’s gummy vitamins and calcium gummies to start today too.

We all do the whole vitamin thing together in the morning, you know.

Okay, so it’s been hot here the past few days. You can definitely feel that summer is coming. I’m not sure if I’m ready for it, but ready or not it’s coming.

When it gets hot out I always crave different things to eat. Not sure if I’m ready to change up my whole standard cinnamon sugar breakfast STUFTwich (yesterday it was a triple decker),

but this morning I had to make the switch to an iced nutty americano.

For some reason it was so much better with a glass straw. Random.

With the warmer weather, I’m not very motivated to roast up massive amounts of sweet roasted kabocha squash. Definitely a good thing as they’re not as easy to find these days anyway. I do have a new recipe from a couple weeks ago I never shared with you though. Oopsies. I better get on that before it’s really too hot to want kabocha squash.

Thankfully I crave salads a lot when it’s hot outside. Plain balsamic vinegar has been my go to salad dressing lately. I love it with a little fresh basil, crushed red pepper and Cholula on a salad.

(Salad from Friday night that went with our leftover pizza.)

The other day I had the idea to combine hummus with balsamic vinegar to make a dressing

IMG_8610

and might I say it was delicious.

IMG_8609

Yep. It’s my new thing.

Move over Yum Hum Dressing, there’s a new dressing in town that’s better.

Humming Balsamic Dressing

I have to admit, I don’t measure it. I just combine hummus, balsamic vinegar and crushed red pepper until I get the consistency I want. I think it’s about equal parts hummus and vinegar and then quite a bit or crushed red pepper.

IMG_8607

It’s fabulous. Now I want to experiment with different hummus flavors and different balsamic vinegars. Oh the options……

Okay.

I’m off. Lot’s of stuff to tackle today. That’s always the case Mondays, yes?

Very cute workout outfit. Like I said before, I have to get one of those handful bras! I’ve heard SUCH good things. I take a multi and Kay takes a gummy multi. I usually give my husband her gummies too haha. Favorite salad dressing? Either balsamic vinegar and olive oil or a lighter italian

Don’t really have a favorite dressing although, lately I top every salad with salsa. ;-)

Ditto here….told hubs not to get me any thing since I just got a new iphone and he and the kids ended up with some very nice flowers and homemade cards…LOVE those!

I TOTALLY do that too, except I start Sunday. Don’t ask me why, but it has to start then. And, like you, no mid week starting business. Throws my OCD all off :)

hummus and avocado has been my go to dressing for a while now…seriously I go through hummus like no bodies business, I should probably buy stock!

I love the salad dressing idea…I will have to try that…adore balsamic vinegar as well. Looks like you had a glorious Mother’s Day – I did as well – except it was chilly in DC – only about 60 degrees – brrrr. be well!

I just wrote a post on how my appetite has already started to change with the warmer weather. Lots of green monster smoothies and big salads. LOVE the size of your red pepper flakes jar. Mine is from Costco but not that size. High-Fives to you! :) And that breakfast sandwich looks fabulous! XOXO

You just reminded me that I need to take my vitamins….

For my salad dressing, I love balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and a little raw honey to sweeten it up…yum.

I loved gummy vitamins growing up! (And during high school as well I should add…. :) )

I actually try to start things as soon as I think about them because in the past I’ve been in that monday mindset and always lost motivation come that day :(

My favorite dressing would be ranch, italian or french. Always depended on what mood I was in! I actually posted a healthy, clean version of ranch dressing on my blog last week that I made for my parents. They said it was pretty close to the real stuff. A hummus dressing sounds amazing!

I love all of Trader Joe’s dressing…the cilantro one and the pear one are fabulous. I also sometimes make dressings with hummus and this weekend I made one with avocado and strawberries. Glad you had a great Mother’s Day!
