Monday Motivation and Moves

Good morning!

Happy Monday. Happy summer!

And hello July!

What?

Where does time go? Seriously.

Workouts over the weekend:

Saturday- Taught boot camp. Among other things we did the 10 to 1 Jumping Burpee Challenge. That never gets old. He he.

Sunday- Sweated like a pig teaching a 75 minute spin class. First time I’ve taught a 75 minute class. Um, yeah, those extra 15 minutes on the bike are pretty tough.

So, here are some moves to start out the week. Wait, and the month actually.

Smile

This first one is one we did in boot camp Saturday and I do it regularly in my classes. A V-sit with alternating leg cross overs.

It’s meant to be slow and controlled. Working your core while getting a little extra inner thigh work at the same time.

Sit in a V using your core to hold you legs up. Hold on to your legs if you need a modification. Alternate crossing legs over one another.

You can see an old video of my sweaty mug doing this move at home with the boys climbing on me here. It helps give more of a visual “how-to”.

STUFT Core Moves- V-Sit Variations

Lovely.

And here’s another move of the week by special request from Judah.

I was taping videos outside early Saturday morning and he really wanted to make one and a move of the week. You can thank him for this.

Move of the Week- Plank Jacks

Challenge- Do these for a minute. Rest. repeat twice.

Don’t you all workout in the front yard in pajamas?

Smile

He he.

Moving on.

I’ve got a lot to really just wrap my head around before the week and month really hit me head on.

I need a plan of action on easing back into running.

I also need a plan of action for what to do now that the STUFT Detox is officially over.

Lots to plan out. If I don’t plan, I’m in trouble. So if things are quite here for a few days, it hopefully means I’m finally getting my act together.

I made a marvelous sweetener free iced mocha this morning. I used some of this Trader Joe’s coconut milk

and combined it with unsweetened almond milk with the other usual perfect summer mocha ingredients (minus the sugar free syrup). It wasn’t too shabby.

Um, and just worth mentioning, this snack is darn delicious.

Baked sweet potato mashed up and topped with pumpkin pie spice, coconut oil and pecan butter.

It’s even better chilled for a bit.

And…..

Also, just thought I’d pass along an email I got from my favorite egg whites. Good timing too as I just finished off a huge jug over the weekend.

I love these more over the summer because you can use it in smoothies to up the protein. I’ve been using it in my Egg-cellent Sweetener Free Mocha Smoothie lately. If you happen to get your hands on some jugs, I think you should try it in smoothies.

I was reading a little Health Magazine over the weekend and saw this.

What a great quote, right? That’s going to be my motto for the month.

And I thought this was interesting too.

Are you breaking a bad habit or starting a new healthy one today?

It’s the perfect day to do so since it’s Monday and the start of a new month, yes?

I have to get my goals on paper.

Smile

Writing them down is key, don’t you think?

Have a good one!

That’s a great move, going to have to put that in some of my circuits! Writing down goals is really important, and I think sharing them is good too, helps to have other people hold you accountable!

I love Plank Jacks! *never tried them with a toddler under me but I have had a mini dachshund pop under and try to give kisses while doing so* that doesn’t work so great either*

So how have you felt during the STUFT Detox? If you feel great or better b/c of it why will it be over? Do you plan to add more sugar in or back slowly? Just curious. ;-)

Your boys are too cute! I love sweet potato with cinnamon and almond butter but have never tried pecan butter before. I have never actually tried pecan butter. I love peanut, coconut, almond and maple almond. I hope you have a good start to July

Love plank jacks – even better with a child crawling under you!!!
I’m not sure I’ve done the V-sit leg crosses – gotta give them a try soon!

I do so much better with a plan too! You’re right- new month, I had almost forgotten until I saw your instagram today. And on a Monday too… time for fresh goals! Great idea to get a running plan down on paper… I know coming back from a stress fracture it was so important to have a very slow re-entry (but oh so hard!) Good luck!

Couldn’t agree more that those extra 15 minutes of a 75 minute spin class make a HUGE difference!!! I think I’m struck by the relaxation-on-vacation bug, but I’m committing to myself to get more sleep for the second half of the year. Here’s to hoping it works!

Um, so I have taught back to back spins and it basically felt l was teaching for a straight 120 minutes. Anything past my normal 55-60…is tiring!! Kudos to you for doing that because truly that is not easy.

this is too weird- I just got done googling a yoga studio with a class tonight after work as I am determined to start some type of stretching, relaxing exercise this month :) also I am going to start cutting back on my artificial sweetners, thanks to your inspiration. I know I won’t go cold turkey but you have to start with baby steps too right??

  12. 12

I actually really like plank jacks – burpees and jumping lunges are a completely different story though ;)
I NEED to try eating a bowl of roasted sweet potato the way you do!

Hi!! So I love that you did a Detox. I use wayyy too many artificial sweeteners and eat better n’ peanut butter like its my job. What would you say the best things about the Detox are? Did you notice any results?
