Try It Tuesday

Why hello. I’m going to “try” to bust this post out as quickly as possible before making dinner. I have about 15 minutes or so. Hoping for a miracle here. Ha.

Workout:

Monday- After my last post I taught spin and a couple classes at the Y later.

Today- Ran 3 miles on the treadmill. Not totally pain free, but took it easy. 2 miles at 9 or so pace and the third at 8:30ish. I walked a bit at the beginning to try to fix my hair. He he.

Still rocking the Mizuno Wave Sayonaras I love them.

Quick shoe change and then taught a BOSU class- intervals, weights, all kinds of good stuff.

Later in the afternoon hopped on the elliptical for 20 minutes only because the boys had swim lessons and I really wanted to read my new Runner’s World magazine. I bribe myself like that.

So, some things to try.

Oh, well, first of all, I made the mistake of NOT wearing my Halo Headband to workout today and I would say DO NOT try that. Once you get used to them keeping the sweat off your face, you don’t want to go back. Oh, and there’s just a few more hours to enter the giveaway.

Um, yeah, try to get out of the store quickly late at night after a really long Monday teaching classes. I’m convinced it’s impossible. I should really learn to just go straight home.

I found my new favorite unsweetened dark chocolate there though. After not having sweets for so long, I really like this Ghirardelli 100% cacao bar.

And yes, our chickens really like to photo bomb (and poop everywhere) even at night.

I found this cool Zhena’s Gypsy Tea at Sprouts last night too. I couldn’t decide what flavor I wanted so I ended up buying 4 different ones.

Nice. Being indecisive is expensive.

I tried the caffeine free Chocolate Chia one last night after dinner in the proper mug of course and with some appropriately thin apple slices.

IMG_9464

It was pretty darn good just plain. Now I have to try the rest of the flavors.

Smile

If you haven’t tried making a smoothie with either kale or egg whites you really should.

Today’s egg-cellent mocha smoothie had some fresh organic kale in it and it was quite fabulous.

IMG_4777

You can’t taste either (kale or egg whites) and the egg whites give it a good protein kick. The whites from my ginormous jugs are pasteurized and safe to use just as is. (Gosh, that doesn’t sound very good does it?)

Try to not shed a tear when you watch your boys swim 3 feet on their own during their lessons. Such a proud mama moment (until they refuse to get out of the pool and cause a big scene).

Try this snack I’ve had about 3 days in a row now.

Yesterday.

Today.

IMG_9480

Sweetener free roasted kabocha chilled with fresh strawberries, coconut mush, almond butter and peanut free NuttZo.

It’s so darn good. Today I put a little extra dark cocoa powder on it just because.

And, yeah, try to have just one of these new muffins we made this morning.

IMG_9470

They may be the best version of green gobblin’ muffins yet. I changed up the recipe a bit and will get that to you soon.

I tried not to take it personally, but I’m fairly certain our Trader Joe’s purposely only had one small cart left when they saw us coming so both my boys couldn’t cause their usual mayhem in the store when we stopped there this evening.

And whelp, if you’re traveling, make sure you try these mini moves. Yes?

And now that I’ve failed at getting this posted in 15 minutes, I’m going to try to see how fast I can whip up some jicama nachos. Yep, that’s right. Jicama nachos for dinner. Brilliant, I know

Ha ha.

Oh, and I’m also going to try to finally get back to comments left on here. I’ve left quite a few people hanging and I’m so sorry. Tonight is dedicated to trying to catch up with all of that.

I’m also going to try once again to get to sleep at a decent hour. I failed at that too last night. Oops. Why is it so hard?

Have a good one.

PS- Blogging is hard without my darn laptop. Pooper scooper.

What did you try today or what are you going to try tonight?

Anything new? Anything fun?

Yesterday, I tried making my own quinoa salad, as well as going to be early. I was able to do both, and woke up feeling super refreshed this morning, and now I have lunch/dinner for the next couple of days :)

I tried Paleo pancakes (the egg and banana concoction) and while it was… a little weird, it was definitely better than I expected!

Tried rolled steel oats for breakfast instead of cereal… wow, talk about staying power! You inspired me to try a 30 day challenge, went with the beauty detox solution challenge (more vegan based as opposed to whole 30). It’s only day two and I’m missing my peanut butter… sigh!

I am not sure what made me laugh more, them not leaving the pool or the lack of a second small cart. :) Looking forward to your updated green gooblin recipe! And who doesn’t want chickens in their photos?!

Just got a Vitamix and I’m working on my smoothie repertoire :) Some have been better than others. I also bought some protein powder from GNC – EAS Myoplex Lite packets. I got the box on sale, and now I know why; it’s TERRIBLE!! I’d like to try other protein powders but hate to have to buy an entire jug of any one kind/flavor bc it’s expensive!
Just got my new Runner’s World too, and I can’t wait to read it!! I’m signed up for my first half-marathon so the timing for this themed issue is perfect!

Yes, perfect timing. The GNC brand powders are all amazing. Yeah, you have to buy the whole jug, but it’s good. The egg one is my favorite!

You and your blog are so inspiring! My hip is recently injured and it has been the most frustrating thing! This morning I thought, I have to let Stuft Mama know how her positive spirit has helped me!
I had a baby five months ago and was super motivated to get back in shape. I signed up for my first half marathon for Nov and then BAM! This stupid hip thing…
Anyways, thanks for your good attitude.
    Love the blog!

Oh I love kabocha, your bowls always look so good. That’s awesome that the boys were able to swim some on their own.

Yay for your boys!! That’s the most exciting/painful/scary thing in the world to watch them take those first few strokes all on their own!! When I used to teach swim lessons to kids that was the most rewarding!! You might want to try sometime getting in with them–if they’ll let you– and have them hold on the wall and then you walk out a few feet and they push off and glide to you. It’s fun and they get more and more comfortable in the water. And that tea looks fab! Another good one I’m addicted to is from celestial seasonings roastarama–it’s like a coffeeish/ chicory/ cocoa flavored tea. It’s reall good!

Haven’t tried anything new yet….but stalking pinterest for recipes using spaghetti squash. the plants in my garden are exploding with squash…meaning i need tons of different ways to serve it :)
But I would love to find that tea….all of the flavors look so tasty!!

Lately I have been getting really annoyed with sweat in my face when I run…I think that I will have to order a halo headband to try out. (I’ll wait to see if I win your giveaway first. haha, wishful thinking!)

I love all your pics always – the kids crack me up – you have way more patience than I do! They are cuties though!!!

I resemble your store shopping!!!! Let me know how the coconut teas are – do they taste like tea – not a tea fan but if they taste like coconut I am there! :)

I want a green goblin muffin!

Awww, little water babies! :) I miss having access to a pool soooooooo badly. I need a fix!

Hmmm… I tried a new yoga routine today. Not great, but not bad either.
