Some Mail and Random STUFT I’m Sure Will Make Your Day Complete


Monday workout:

Taught 4 classes throughout the day at three different gyms. Won’t core you with details since I’m ridiculously tired at the moment, but in case you’re wondering, step aerobics is still cool in my book.

So much so, that I when registering for the upcoming IDEA World Fitness Conference, I made sure to get a few step classes on my schedule for some new moves. He he.

Went with a little Lorna Jane outfit today. Funny that I think the Lorna Jane outfits I have are the cutest, most feminine workout clothes I have, yet I sometimes think they’re too nice so I save them for special occasions. That’s just silly, there are no special occasions coming up anytime soon.


Went for a slow run to finish off the night only because I want tomorrow to be a really easy active recovery day.

With my training plan, I’ve been advised to make my high intensity days my hard days so I can truly have “rest” days. That’s a little tough with my schedule and is taking some tweaking, but I’m going to make it work the best that I can. I’m learning that recovery is a very important part of the big picture of training.


So, yeah,  I finished off the day with a 4.5 mile run.

It helped that I had the opportunity to run at the beach since I was already out there teaching.

Had my JayBird BlueBuds headphones again. I kind of felt like letting everyone know I was wearing wireless headphones, but held myself back.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that when you turn the headphones on, they have a little lady voice talk to you. It’s like Siri’s sister. Ha ha.

I had my little GPS again too. This time it got my mileage right thank goodness.

I averaged a 10 something pace since I stopped quite a few times to take pictures. I couldn’t help it, but I’m pretty sure photo stops are written up in Runner’s World Challenge plan. Ha ha.

Did the whole  Mizuno Inspire 9s and Pro Compression low trainers thing too. They just go so well together.


It was the PERFECT way to end the night.

I was exhausted, but so thankful to just be able to move and be outside.


So we have been getting some fantabulous mail recently that I keep forgetting to mention.

We frequently get these amazing Chobani Champions tubes delivered to us from our friends at Chobani.


We like to keep our fridge well stocked. We also like to use them as toddler bribery.


We got a “Love Drop” from Love Grown Foods over the weekend.

Dang that Cocoa Goodness granola is going to tease me. I haven’t been doing grains so I’ve been giving some bags away here and there and everyone always comments on how delicious the granola is.


We got a whole box of Zevia Zero Calorie soda to sample.

They hooked us up with a bunch of flavors.


I like that these don’t have any artificial sweeteners in them and the only thing used is stevia extract, but I do admit I’m a little hesitant to go all out and try them as it’s been so long since I’ve had any kind of sweetener or anything. The cola flavor did catch my eye.


Oh, and I did drink about 1/2 of the Lemon Lime Twist one the other night during our fiesta in a cool glass because I was trying to pretend it was a margarita. Ha ha.


It was tasty. Not too sweet. I’ve heard a lot of people who love these drinks. I’ll be saving them for some special occasions and will definitely report back.

Oh, and check out this cool purple watch Timex sent.


I’m pretty darn excited since the old Timex watch I have is probably about 9 years old and has been through quite a lot. Hmm.. the time and date might need to be set, huh? Ha ha.


I ordered myself a new set of huge egg white jugs since I’ve been using them in smoothies so much.

Good thing they don’t take up a lot of room in the fridge. Oh wait, that’s not right. They take up pretty much the whole shelf.



Okay, totally random STUFT stuff.


Yesterday I had one heck of a mess to clean up in the pantry.


The pictures are a little disturbing aren’t they?

It was a huge bottle of Tapatio from Costco. It wasn’t very fun to clean and now our pantry has a bit of a hot smell to it. Ha ha. Not to mention I was pretty sad to see a whole huge bottle of that go to waste.

Good thing I discovered this new hot sauce to feel a little bit better.

The Pepper Plant Chunky Garlic Hot Pepper Sauce? Um, okay. It goes really well Italian food, like say a ground turkey meatza pizza that was consumed a little while ago.

We tried grilled romaine the other week after reading about it in Runner’s World magazine.


It was also mentioned in another magazine. I think this was from Self, but I don’t remember.


Andrew said he didn’t want to eat it, but he’d grill it for me. All I did was spray it with a little nonstick spray and season it with Trader Joe’s Everyday Seasoning then turned it over to the grill master.

Andrew said he just turned the grill really low and turned it a couple of times giving it just a few minutes on each side.

It turned out marvelously and we’ve been meaning to try it again, but it just hasn’t happened yet.

And, obviously Andrew changed his mind and wanted some. It was pretty darn tasty.

I wonder if I could make it on the Griddler? Hmm…..

Oh, you know what else I made recently that was a hit? Homemade “fries”.


Cut up a potato (any kind, even a sweet potato) toss with oil oil or coconut oil and a little sea salt. Roast at 425 for awhile (I didn’t keep track of time).


Yesterday Andrew surprised my with two humongous gorgeous looing kabochas.


You should see the rings on the bottom on these things. Oh my…. they are perfect.

He sure knows the way to my heart.

I thanked him by making him some homemade pizza.


I offered to make him his own meatza pizza, but he didn’t like that idea. I don’t know why.


Not that you care, but pretty much every morning lately starts with some sort of egg white scramble (if it’s not starting with an egg-cellent mocha smoothie). I just throw whatever in a big pan on the stove and it usually comes out quite marvelous.

The other day it was this scramble with kabocha, Costco kale salad, spinach, chicken apple sausage, and egg whites in coconut oil and some seasoning topped with a little Marie Sharps hot sauce.


Oh, and my new dark chocolate discovery is these.


Pretty darn delicious.


Okay, bedtime.

I have big plans to sleep in a bit tomorrow, but that never really works out quite as I picture it to.


Oh and hey, if you’re looking for a nice place to sit outside in the shade, just park close enough to a tree and make your own recliner. Duh.

    I LOVE grilled romaine!!! It is so good. And, yes, I actually did get a fun package in the mail yesterday- a wire chicken-shaped basket to collect my chicken’s eggs in. It was a present from a friend. Definitely not as fun as the packages you get 🙂 My run today actually is easy. Yesterday was tempo intervals, so today is an easy run. By the way, your run looks like it was beautiful. I wish I lived close to the beach. That was a mezamashii run for sure!

    I have any run on the treadmill, while I watch Bachelorette DVR’d. That’s how Tuesdays roll. I have seen grilled romaine popping up everywhere. I’ve got to try that stuff! Off to go enter the earbud giveaway!

    I love Zevia! Especially the Cream Soda one. I don’t drink it much because I prefer water but it’s a nice treat when you are wanting a coke but not all those chemicals! 🙂

    I still think step is cool too! Did a step workout just yesterday in fact.

    I’m having to learn about making the harder days harder to open up more easy, recovery, rest days too. It’s definitely a different way to approach workouts than the usual go go go with one rest day thrown in there, huh?

    I have a large amount of romaine lettuce in my fridge at the moment so you can bet I will be roasting these leaves today! I am quite excited about it now actually. I have never done it before….Worst thing I have spilled? hmm. Probably back when I was first married and the bottle of maple syrup spilled all over the floor right as we were walking out the door to get to work. Yeah, that was a bit of a sticky mess.

    I am so jealous that you are going to to the IDEA conference….maybe next year. 🙁 no fun deliveries for me….oh wait do my clothes and such from MI count from our trip? Not a fun delivery but a necessary one. That is so great that you can run again….I may not comment much but I have been following you for awhile, and I get so excited to read your posts……not kidding at all. You crack me up. It is definitely like waiting for your favorite show to come on!

    I am officially having a rest day today. My body doesn’t ask for one very often but after 3 miles + strides on Sunday and 7 miles of negative splits yesterday it was begging for rest today (and most of yesterday to be honest).

    My dear son dropped (okay threw) about a dozen eggs on my kitchen floor once….that was a MESS!

    Yes, Love music to run to, always changing my playlist. I have never tried wireless. My 3.25 mile run this morning was perfect; fast times, fresh air and beautiful sunrise.

    It looks like you got lots of goodies in the mail! I tried jicama for the first time this week, after seeing you roasting it I knew I wanted to give it a try. It was you who introduced the wonderful kabocha so I figured you couldn’t steer me wrong. Jicama is not only delicious but also really cheap! I’m going to be adding it to my vegetable roasting list now.

    Do you count teaching classes as workouts? I feel like in most classes I have taken, its just as hard on the instructor as us, so 4 classes is like ~3+ hours of working out?? And then you ran! I am mostly curious because I bartend, which is 10 hours on my feet, fairly high intensity for about 5 of those hours.. and sometimes I feel like its a decent substitiute for a 3 mile run, because I certainly am sore the next day as if I had worked out. Love your blog!

    We love the chobani tubes, too in our house (my son asks for one practically every afternoon after his nap!). I haven’t heard of Zevia; I’ll have to check them out. I’ve been wanting to order egg whites, since we use so much of them and our local grocery store doesn’t carry them, so I’ll be ordering some tonight!

    Came home from the beach to discover that my mastiff got hungry and opened/spilled a container of rice, powdered sugar, brown sugar, and all the cereal from the shelf. To top it off, he had the trashcan tipped over and its contents were all over the floor. Not a happy dog mommy that day!

    Zevia is good stuff, you’re in for a treat! My wife and I will split one at work every now and then.

    A mix I’ve been loving lately is pouring a little apple cider vinegar and lemon juice over ice in a glass, and then filling the rest of the way with the Zevia Ginger Ale. Sooooo good and refreshing.

    It’s great seeing you get back in the running game, congrats! Also, I don’t post a lot, but read everyday and I am still laughing at your son’s question from the other day regarding the man in a wheelchair road sign…..”why is that man sitting on the toilet?” Classic!

    I know it’s not good to be jealous, but I really wish I had some of that Love Grown goodness and Zevia on my doorstep too! 😉
