Um, is the weekend over already? What the?
Started the day with a 6.37 mile hilly run early this morning.
Sported my best Sunday workout attire and tried to get a certain someone to take a picture to show them off, but it didn’t do so well. This was the best we got.
Well, since I posted about the shorts awhile back (here), but never really got to a review of them with the injury and all I felt like I needed to do a bit better than that.
I took things into my own hands (and my good camera with a self timer) this morning. Let’s talk running shorts for a second.
Now that it’s been warmer and I’m finally getting my booty to able to run a bit and be outside I’ve really been loving these shorts.
I’m pretty picky about running shorts. They have to be comfortable, light weight, not ride up, not be too tight around the waist, be the right length, etc.
Well, these pretty much take the cake over all running shorts I’ve worn. I have them in three different colors (pink, black and gray) and actually just noticed that they also come purple.
Things I love about them:
The Dynamotion™ Fit patterning.
(Oh, hey, anyone need anything from the BBQ while I’m here?)
The lightweight feel and the split sides.
The inner briefs with anti-bacterial treatment.
The cool pocket. Obviously.
They’re so comfortable, you could almost sleep in them. Seriously. Or wear them to do a little spice shopping like I did Friday (yep, sported the black ones all sweaty and such to Penzey’s). Ha ha.
So yeah, my little man may not have been too helpful in the picture taking, but he gave me one heck of a send off this morning.
We’re all excited over here that “mommy’s leg is getting better” and she gets to run again.
All went well. My shorts kept me all light and airy
and I finally figured out that I have to wait for the GPS to locate the satellites before pressing start for the run. Duh.
Ran an average of 8:42/mile, but I was all over the place with my pace. I am not consistent right now at all, but I’m just glad to be able to run a bit. The pace work can come later. No rush.
Sported my older Elixir 7s (had to match the watch), but just happen to notice on the Mizuno website that they have a new color of the Elixir 8s out. Have you seen these?
I also went to an evening barre class with my friend Niki at The Daily Method.
The instructor, Kristen, was awesome and so was the studio. I’d never been to a barre type class like that. It was so fun. A lot of smaller movements that really made you tuck, tighten and squeeze and a lot concentration on the core. There were a couple times I wanted to talk to Niki a few times during class, but everyone there seemed like they meant business, so I held back to try to fit in. I totally want to go back though and take more classes. It seems like a really great cross training workout to supplement running and such.
Oh hey look, I even tried to pretend like I looked what I was doing next to the pros after class was finished.
Totally don’t remember what those two moves are called.
So, since we’re doing the staycation thing and all it was a family day today.
STUFT Daddy got to pick out our events of the day.
All the best of course.
First up was this. Obviously.
Ha ha. It was pretty cool, I gotta say.
What are you looking at?
Um, let me guess, did you just eat an apple because you’ve got a little something on your face.
We have desert tortoises in our yard.
Just in case you want to know about the male and female plastron difference.
(I don’t even know what a plastron is. Don’t tell Andrew.)
Oh look, STUFT Daddy got himself a little something nice.
Our family days always include some kind of feasting. Today we really went all out at for brunch at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse.
Only after this happened while waiting for our table.
Yep. Only our best behavior as always. Lovely.
Once we sat down all was good.
Like really good.
A little more work for your food and messier than I’m used to, but it was delicious.
No other pictures were taken of food since a crowded buffet with two hungry, tired toddlers was really not the best idea. Let me tell you though, we made quite a few trips back to the buffet and made sure to eat our money’s worth in a hurry.
Oh wait, I almost forgot, loved the teeny tiny fork and the teeny tiny bottle of Cholula.
Oh, and the fact that they had gummy bears as an ice cream topping also bought us a good five to ten extra minutes of eating pleasure with the kiddos.
It was one heck of fabulous staycation Sunday.
Oh, and the best toddler conversation in the car on the way home went a little something like this:
“Maybe the balloons tooted.”
“Balloons can’t toot. They don’t have butts.”
“I want a poop sandwich and an iced mocha.”
Oops. Almost forgot this too. The winner of the JayBird Sport BlueBud X Headphones chosen by Random.org is…..
Oh, and the best thing I read just yesterday was this.
Hope you had the BEST weekend.
