The Ninja Thing Has a Name, an Anniversary Dump and a Chocolate Salad Milkshake

Thursday Workout:

A quick little 4.24 mile run in the morning. Yeah the one that I snuck out for and conveniently ended up at Starbucks.

Sported my pink Inspires for the little run.IMG_5946IMG_5936

I was totally thinking how lucky I was to be able to run and check out the scenery.

IMG_5937

It’s a gift I tell ya. A gift that gets just that much better when it ends properly.

IMG_5938

According to this Runner’s World pace calculator I ran an 8:20 pace. I’m pretty sure I sped up at the end just to get to Starbucks a little faster. Ha ha.

Random thought- according to my MCM training plan, that my “easy” runs are supposed to be at an 8:20-9:00 pace, but since I haven’t really run in that long, that pace doesn’t quite seem that “easy” these days.  I wonder how long it will take to get back. Hmmm….

I took it upon myself to do the whole room delivery thing. I really wish Starbucks would start a delivery service though. Wouldn’t that be awesome?

IMG_5944

He he.

Oh, I taught a HIIT class and a strength training class at the gym last night too. Almost forgot about that.

Which reminds me, Ammie asked if I had any other resistance band workouts. I have this OLD video I made with my favorite 6 upper body moves to do with a resistance band. Still my favorite moves, but a pretty funny old video. Dang the boys were so little.

Anyhoo…

so you know the whole “ninja” thing? Turns out other people do it too (thank you for fessing up) and also turns out it has a name. Thank you Andrea for sharing this article.

“Ghosting—aka the Irish goodbye, the French exit, and any number of other vaguely ethnophobic terms—refers to leaving a social gathering without saying your farewells. One moment you’re at the bar, or the house party, or the Sunday morning wedding brunch. The next moment you’re gone. In the manner of a ghost. “Where’d he go?” your friends might wonder. But—and this is key—they probably won’t even notice that you’ve left.”

That’s just funny, right?

Well, I won’t bore you with telling you all about our anniversary adventures, but I will photo dump them on you. Here you go. Our 20 hour getaway.

I got some comments in instagram about the sign in the background. Well, yes, we went there, but The Strip Club is a STEAK place. A fabulous one that we’ve been to many times before and has the best martinis ever,

IMG_5909IMG_5908

great appetizers,

IMG_5911

some pretty interesting artwork

IMG_5915

and grills where you grill your own steak.

IMG_5922

Let me just say that Andrew made the best steak ever.

Oh, and obviously since we were celebrating a special occasion ice cream was involved.

IMG_5924

Hands down my favorite ice cream sundaes are Ghirardelli ones.

IMG_5930

That was really fun to eat. The first ice cream I’ve had since the whole STUFT Detox thing. I loved every single spoonful.

Okay, so I have to confess a little something to you.

The other day I had just put the boys’ lunches in front of them. I was proud. There was salad, fruit, a whole wheat grilled cheese sandwich, etc.

Whelp, Joaquin started screaming at the top of his lungs “I don’t like salad! I said I don’t like salad!”

Um, hmm…

I did a really good job for a long time having the boys love salad and kale chips and apple slices with their lunch.

I went wrong somewhere recently. We’ve been too busy and I haven’t put as much thought and care into their lunches. I’ve dropped the ball a bit and I swear it only takes a few meals without vegetables to make them not want vegetables anymore.

Not okay.

Not okay at all.

So, I’m taking things back this month.

Yep, just like the whole green eggs thing, we’re mixing in the veggies where ever we can.

Like this smoothie that has been happening pretty much every day since the salad screaming incident.

It’s pretty much the same as the STUFT Tots Chocolate “Milkshake", only better.

I’ve been trying to have the boys help me make this particular smoothie so they see the vegetables go in it. I want them to know that they’re there and that they taste good. Some days it goes over better than others. If they’re in a mood, well, then I have to get a little sneaky and not have them help. It all depends on the day.

So, Joaquin, you can say you don’t want salad, but kiddo, you’ll get getting your vegetables one way of the other.

IMG_9901

Oh yes you will.

IMG_9903

Okay. That does it for me friends.

Have a good one! Happy Friday!

Ever been to a restaurant where you grill your own food?

Do you have a favorite ice cream sundae place?

Veggies is smoothies- yay or nay?

It looks like you had a really nice 20 hour getaway- and I’ll bet that ice cream tasted amazing! I don’t usually get sundaes, but i do have a favorite place to go for ice cream. And veggies in smoothies- yes! I Like berries & banana with spinach or kale. Yum.
I just got some new resistance bands. I want to try the exercises I saw in Runner’s world, and I will have to watch your video now too :)

Sorry…I have to comment again. I just actually watched that video. Hilarious. I love your little text bubbles. Oh, and I also checked out the other link in that post….what an amazing transformation of your mind & body. Very inspiring! P.S. We all did scrunchies in the 90′s, as they somehow were cool….it’s ok :)

Spinach. I buy the big container at Costco…freezer half and use the frozen spinach in just about everything…smoothies, eggs, anywhere I can add it to the kids food!

It sounds like you had a fun anniversary! A great dinner and ice cream are a great way to spend an anniversary. I love that you sneak veggies into smoothies, I always add spinach if I have it on hand.

  7. 7

I was “behind” so I’m just now reading about the ninja/ ghosting thing, but YES! I consider this one of my greatest talents :) . Do it all the time!

Glad you had a great anniversary! You look beautiful in every one of those pictures!

I always add some sort of green/veg to my smoothies…I can’t taste it, so I figure, why not? My favorites are spinach, kale, chard, avocado, and/or zucchini.

Ghiradelli’s is the absolute best! I love their sundaes. When I spent a week in Maui a few years ago, they had a local Ghiradelli’s ice cream shop and I got something every night. Probably why I came home 5 lbs heavier.

    Congrats on the anniversary!

happy anniversary, you two look super cute together and your man seems to be warming up to the camera a little, am I right? maybe soon he can write a stuftdaddy guest post. ;) i love veggies in my smoothies. i freeze zucchinis ahead of time, and blend them up with raw vegan protein powder (i use growing naturals brand – very nice), some ground flaxseed, perhaps some coconut water if I have some and a big bunch of kale or chard. I add some ice too. It’s super yummy! And kills my cravings for things like (ice cream). :) Loved this post! Looking beautiful as usual! :)
