Friday Fun Run, Snacks, Special Deliveries and Some Random News

Hmm… how’s that for a title. I couldn’t decide what to write about so this is going to be a bit messy. Nothing new I’m sure. LOL.

This morning I got up and went for a run. I never know what exactly I’m going to eat beforehand, but I always know that I need a little caffeine.

I went with an egg-cellent mocha smoothie this morning.

And yes, if you must know, it is better in this mug and with a glass straw. Ha ha.

I had the best send off ever.

IMG_5961

Dang I love these guys.

Nothing too exciting to report on the run. With my MCM training plan my long run this week should be 10 miles, but the previous weeks my long runs weren’t as long as they should’ve been because I’m still working into the plan and my other runs this week have been pretty darn short, so I did my longest run yet.

IMG_5965

Average pace about 9:40.

Malibu Blue Mizuno Inspires and black Pro Compression low trainers just because today felt special (and because the rest of my outfit had been worn the previous day without being washed so I had to draw attention to my feet).

IMG_5967

And, well, I guess it was a special occasion since it was the furthest I’ve run in a good 5 months or so. I’m a pretty lucky gal.

IMG_5968

The run felt pretty good, a little stiff and I need to remember to do my PT exercises later tonight. Gotta stay on top of that.

I scarfed down whatever I could find really quick after getting home because we had some errands to run. Including a trip to our favorite new Kennedy’s Karne store.

IMG_5970

Somehow I talked STUFT Daddy into going to Costco with us too.

Um…. talk about a “ninja” move. I could barley keep up with that guy. He was in and out of there and somehow we spent less that $200. That was a first.

IMG_5972

I’m pretty sure he loved every second of it. LOL.

IMG_5973

I was starving when we got home. I decided to play with that albacore again and some of my Penzey’s finds.

IMG_9956

I prepared tem with water. Man, these were no joke, although my mess of a cabbage salad kind of was. Oops. It was still pretty darn tasty.

IMG_9959

I had gone a few days without a sweetener free roasted kabocha boat so today it had to be done pretty much immediately following that salad.

IMG_9964

I like to put all the Peanut Free NuttZo and coconut butter in the middle so it’s like a little surprise at the end. Silly, I know.

IMG_9965

Other random snacks I’ve had lately that I forgot to put on here, but might become a new thing.

A “pizza” (or flower, whatever you want to call it) made out of my special egg whites with roasted plantains, cinnamon and NuttZo.

IMG_5954

Cute, right? If you look really close you can see our darn chickens trying to photo bomb.

And, thanks to Mari (the queen of the kabocha rings) I’ve discovered purple sweet potatoes. That roast up so well with just a little cinnamon.

IMG_5787

They’re not as easy to find, but they are delicious and according to Mari have more antioxidants than blueberries. They also bake well on their own without anything. I’ve done that too, but forgot a picture. Oops.

We got some special deliveries that made our Friday afternoon just that much better.

One from Chobani.

We go through those Chobani Champions tubes like crazy, although I still haven’t tried freezing them yet.

And one heck of a fabulous delivery from my friend Jess.

Heaven.

Okay before I go, some random news, contests and deals to share:

A certain someone got a little mention in this Self.com article about creative ways to burn 100 calories.

Too bad my name is spelled wrong. Oh well. And yep, I’m talking about the Mizuno Stair Burpee Challenge. He he.

You can get 20% off Handful Bras right now with free shipping from their website. Some sizes are sold old, but it’s a pretty good deal.

Runner’s World is having a contest to win an entry into the sold out NYC marathon.

All you need to do is fill out this form.

ENTER FOR A CHANCE TO WIN FREE ENTRY INTO THE SOLD-OUT 2013 NEW YORK CITY MARATHON!

Pretty cool.

And, whelp, that’s about it.

Time to go. We’ve got a bit of a puppet project that needs some attention at the moment.

Enjoy your night and have a fabulous weekend!

How does your significant other feel about Costco shopping?

Have you ever tried purple sweet potatoes?

Or plantains?

(I’m pretty excited about them both and the fact that you can roast them. Ha ha.)

Any big plans for the weekend?

Actually I prefer to go to Costco without him so I know we won’t come home with muffins or cupcakes or Oreos etc….he just can’t help himself…he’s worse than the kids!!

Costco is actually one of the few places that Cody enjoys to go shopping. Everything else he HATES, so I take full advantage and drag him along to Costco whenever I can. 🙂

I’m so excited that your runs are feeling OK. That makes me happy but yes, remember to do your PT exercises. I always have a hard time remembering. And congrats on the Self mention! That’s awesome. My husband LOVES Costco. He goes with the boys all.the.time. I’m rediscovering my love for plantains too.

I have been looking for purple sweet potatoes since seeing Michelle at eat move balance post about cinnamon and cocoa roast ones. The only purple sweet potatoes I could find were all purple on the outside but then white on the inside. I will keep on the lookout! I hope you have a great weekend!
