Well, well, well…… finally getting around to the expo recap post. Only about 10 days later. Ha ha.
Taught a spin class then got on the treadmill for a little over 7 miles at an easy pace. The treadmill at the gym starts a cool down at 58 minutes, which sometimes is annoying if I’m trying to hit a certain number of miles that I can’t get done in an hour. Today, however, I was very appreciative of those 2 cool down minutes. Ha ha.
I was also appreciative of the rerun of The View for having Ed Helms on it. I love that guy.
As promised I have a little recap from the IDEA World Fitness Convention expo. I did a short recap on some of the sessions and a HIIT workout last week. Have you tried those one legged burpees by the way? I’ve used them three times already in different classes and I’m pretty sure I have made a few extra friends each time. Ha ha.
All the race expo talk from the other day got me really excited to write about pretty much the hugest expo ever.
So, here we go.
You could say by the end of Day 3, I was pretty much the expo expert.
Before I talk expo though, I just need to say that the entire convention was just amazing. It was totally a once in a lifetime opportunity. Not only did I learn from all the professionals, but I also got to hang out with some pretty cool fellow FitFluential and Reebok fitness instructing bloggers.
More on them and all our fitness fashion to come, but it’s always fun to actually meet everyone in person.
(instagram from when it actually happened)
It’s always nice to find a running buddy to explore a new city, yes?
Okay, so let’s talk expo. There were all kinds of amazing things there. Even if your not a fitness professional, you can get some passes and go. Be prepared to be overwhelmed. Clothes, food, equipment, CDs, DVDs, shoes…….. the list goes on and on. I mean, they even had a map it was so huge.
I’m sure I didn’t hit up every booth, but I definitely did my share of getting to the important ones. He he.
Here’s a peak at all the goodies, gadgets and fun things I found.
I’ve never met Jennifer from Handful before, even though I wear a Handful Bra pretty much every single day. Obviously I was fast to tell her how I was drying my bras while driving to the convention the night before. Ha.
Oh yes, that there is the Handful sign friends. Everyone’s doing it.
I didn’t know this, but the Handful Bra was recently written up in Runner’s World for one of the top performing sports bras.
And, just a side note, but they’re having a sale right now on their website for 30% off any of their remaining products AND free shipping. A pretty sweet deal.
We met Robb who’s the founder of PureFit nutrition bars.
He had some pretty good looking, good tasting, nondairy, gluten free protein bars.
These are appealing because of everything that is NOT in them. Check out the nutritional information here.

Robb hooked Shannon and I up.
I really like that there isn’t any artificial sweeteners in them. I don’t do soy much these days, but will be trying these out here and there and see how it goes. I’ll be sure to report back when I do.
Has anyone had these?
Caroline, the marvelous woman behind Teeccino told us all about the new TeeChia, the gluten-free, super seed, no sugar added cereal.
We got a few samples to try. I’m going to see if the boys will be into the super seeds thing too.
I sampled the Dandelion Herbal Coffee at the expo (and I’m currently drinking my one and only sample of it at the moment).
Darn good stuff.
In fact, I may be placing an order very soon because I spotted a chocolate mint flavor on the website.
We have quite a bit in common.
I was really interested in learning more about the whole Vega Sport line.
I got a few goodies from the line to test out.
I was really excited about the endurance gels.
Love the natural ingredients, but was not a huge fan of the taste upon first experience. (I had it on Sunday at the race.)
But maybe it’ll grow on me.
I DID really like the Recovery Accelerator that I mixed with some water after the race. That’s a keeper for sure.
I have yet to experiment with the energizers
or the performance protein.
I have used their other protein powders before and actually have a recipe post and a video with my pumpkin protein cookie dough made with the vanilla chai flavor. (Kind of funny to look back on that.)
I hunted a few favorites down on Day 2.
They were pretty easy to find.
Funny that I first discovered them at IDEA last year. Obviously Ande and I had to take another annual picture.
Obviously I got some cool towels for the boys.
Obviously they gave me the coolest tank top ever.
Obviously I kept going back to their booth multiple times a day, to get some protein shots.
I also was fast to find Quest Nutrition.
I had to introduce myself to the main man Bruce.
I also got to meet another FitFluential friend Monica there. Don’t you love her shirt?
I got my hands on a few favorite Quest Bar flavors.
I also found my good friend Lorna Jane.
Actually, I say we’re good friends, she might just pretend to actually remember me because she likes Kitty. Ha ha.
Seriously though, she is such the nicest, cutest person ever.
She has a new book out, More of the Fit Woman’s Secrets.
Luckily I was sent away with a copy. Gotta learn her secrets you know.
I also stopped by the CocoaVia booth.
Not just because of the cool signs (although they were cool), but because I really like they whole cocoa flavanols thing they’ve got going on and I take mine daily. Lately it’s been in capsule form, since they recently released the new CocoaVia capsules.
They have some cool variety packs too that I’ve used a lot in the past for different drink recipes.
Then I finally met Martha from Action Wipes.
I can’t say enough amazing things about these. Action Wipes are the bomb. I have the single travel packets with me at all times- in my gym bag, in the car, etc. I even have a large pack just at home in the bathroom.
Martha showed me why they work so darn well as they suds up like this all on their own.
They have saved me multiple times. I never leave home without them, so it was great to finally meet Martha in person. I should have cleaned up a bit and used a wipe before meeting her for the first time. Ha.
Have you ever seen any of the Harbinger Fitness Gear? Some pretty cool stuff.
My personal favorite was this new ABX.
It helps give you the full range of motion when working your abs. I had to test it out first hand.
I didn’t get to try to much with it (people were staring), but hopefully there will be more on this cool little tool to come.
Came home with some new cereals to try out.
The boys are recently getting into the whole cereal with milk thing, so I’m hoping I can turn them onto healthy options before they get their hands on the sugary ones.
I found my BioFreeze at the expo too. Seriously, love the stuff. I don’t do the whole ice bath for recovery thing, but I DO use BioFreeze a lot after long training runs and races. It goes really well with Pro Compression socks.
They have some new products that I hadn’t seen yet. A cool spray
and some on-the-go travel size ones.
I was given a little of everything including that Thera-band foam roller.
Last, but not least, I got some new fun equipment from the SPRI.
I’m a huge fan of using resistance bands for strength training and use them all the time in my boot camp classes. I have their basic ones, but went all out and got a big daddy braided Xertube.
Um, yeah, those other two things, well, keep an eye out because some workouts and possible giveaways will be coming up with some of that SPRI gear.
And, well, that’s a wrap.
I told you it was HUGE! I don’t even think I got everything on here, but hey, that’s going to be good enough.
Have a good one!
What’s the biggest expo you’ve ever been to?
Any product favorites out of all of these?
Do you get ridiculously excited about free samples too, or is it just me?
