Sunday Shares

Sunday Shares

This was actually supposed to be a “Saturday shares” post. Oops. Oh well.

Saturday- Taught boot camp.

Sunday- 11 treadmill miles.

At home. Early in the morning. Watching some of the movie Safe Haven.

Ran before having any coffee. Dumb. Ran wearing a Handful Bra (that I slept in) and Spanx. Brilliant.

Per my Runner’s World Challenge training plan, 4 of the 11 miles were at MP. The rest were kind of whatever. I didn’t keep track. I’ll blame the fact that I didn’t have coffee beforehand.

Got to break in a new pair of Mizuno Wave Sayonara shoes though.

Cool colors, huh?

The Sayonaras are definitely a little lighter and faster than the Elixirs that are my go-to racing shoe. I’m getting more and more used to them though. Not sure if I could pull off a really long run in them yet, but might have to try it out soon.

We’ve had a couple exciting things happening around here the past few days.

STUFT Daddy took us to a Bird Mart.

I know, I thought about not posting about it because I didn’t want to make you jealous, but oh well.

I found my favorite.

The boys found theirs.

It was a good time. We left empty handed for a change.

But not before breaking some rules.

STUFT Daddy’s idea to cross, not mine.

We bought a wine cooler the other day. I’ve been wanting one for awhile. All the cool people have them, right? You know, we need a special cooler to hold our cheap wine habits (all the wine we love is less than $8 a bottle).

Um no. Here’s the cooler set up.

Yeah, that’s not wine in there friends. Its eggs. Tortoise eggs.

Don’t ask questions. I don’t. I just know I’m not allowed to put wine in the cooler.

Thank you STUFT Daddy for the pictures.

Just yesterday we discovered something really cool.

And I mean really cool. We’ve been waiting for this to happen for quite some time now.

I’ll just show you how it went down.

What’s in there?

Oh heck yes, friends, pretty funny that Judah didn’t see it. Guess he’s just used to there not being anything.

But, we’ve got it.

Our very first egg.

It’s about darn time chickens. We’ve only been waiting 4 months since we first got them for this.

We also figured it was time for another fiesta. My uncle was in town visiting, so obviously we had to introduce him to Kennedy’s Karne.

We pretty much got a little of everything. I couldn’t decide since everything looked fabulous.

Ever since my first visit to the fabulous place, I’ve been telling myself we need to buy all our meat here. It’s so much better when it’s fresh, isn’t it? Seriously, love this place.

And love Mark.

He’s the best and you know, never complains about the boys causing mayhem in the store or having to use their bathroom multiple times while I chat.

We took the food to Grandma and Papaps last night. Let them do the grilling and such because that’s how we roll.

He he.

Hit the jackpot at Trader Joe’s too.

Brussel sprouts stalks and squash. Two of my favorite TJ sights. We stocked up.

Gotta love how they price per item. Tip- find the BIGGEST one so you get more for your money.

Speaking of socking up, I have a few plantains around here to last while.

On one of my trips to Sprouts last week they were out of plantains. That was not okay.

I showed them by buying as many as I could this last time. Ha ha.

I actually just used one now in a little plantain cake experiment.

It it tastes as good as it looks I’ll make sure to share the recipe.

Speaking of experimenting, I tried making my own coconut milk for the first time following the directions and recipe found here on Primal Girl.

I got the link from a 21 Day Sugar Detox email. Speaking of, the fabulous Diane Sanfilippo of Balanced Bites has a new 21 Day Sugar Detox cookbook coming out very soon and she just released a sneak peak.

Check it out here.

The 21-Day Sugar Detox Preview

Oh my goodness, I can’t wait for it to come out!

Oh, and I just recently got this new cookbook that came out from Runner’s World.

Runner’s World Cookbook

I better get to some meal planning for the week and try to impress my men.

Okay, enough Sunday chit chat. Here’s a couple more shares to leave you with. Just sharing some things I love.

Halo Headband has some pretty cool new products and colors coming out.

Make sure to like their Facebook page (Halo Headband Facebook Page) so you can find out when new things are coming. Yay! I can’t wait. Hopefully they’ll be a little giveaway action on here soon.

Here’s a sneak peak from Halo on their instagram.

Halo Instagram

They just started an instagram account, so if you’re feeling nice go ahead and give them a follow.

And since I pretty much sported my 110% Compression capris for about 12 hours Friday afternoon/night

here’s a fun little video for their current campaign with professional triathlete Matty Reed.

Matty Reed’s Secret is Revealed

These pants help a lot. Ice and compression. So smart.

Speaking of compression, I’m about to order the Pro Compression sock of the month.

40% off and free shipping. All the details are here.

Loving the chevron design.

Here’s a little verse from the boys’ devotional from last night.

Love it.

Okay,that’s it.

Have a fabulous rest of your weekend.

Nothing to see here friends. Nothing to see.

Do you ever have pain in the top of your feet after a long run. My mileage is finally built up and I headed out for my first 15miler. I could barely walk last night and today they are so painful. With sneakers on it’s not so bad, but barefoot is killer!

How did you like the coconut milk? I’ve made coconut milk before, but didn’t like it as well as homemade almond milk.
I’d like a wine fridge for storing sourdough starter and proofing bread dough. We don’t buy expensive wine and don’t keep it around long!

Well right now I am sidelined from running so my goals for the week are:
-ab and arm workout once a day each day this week
-eating healthier – cut out some of the sugar
    -stay positive
-have at least 2-3 hours out of the house each day to get work done
    -try 2-3 new recipes

Hilarious about your wine cooler! Some of my friends are training for a sprint triathalon so to practice for their upcoming race we decided to do our own tri yesterday! I was quite nervous as I can’t really swim and definitely not where I can’t touch the bottom! We went to a local lake and I made it! I survived the lake- had to do some serious talking to myself to calm down in the water! But we all finished the tri! That 3 mile run at the end- the part that should’ve been easiest was so hard after swimming and biking! My legs were so heavy! Glad I did it but think I will stick to running!

I’d love it if you did a review of that cookbook once you’ve had time to try a bunch of the recipes! I’m tempted to get it, or maybe just add it to my Christmas list this year or something 🙂

We have 2 Russian Tortoises that have been ‘QUIET FRIENDLY” for some time & we keep looking for eggs. I just showed my husband the video of your boys finding their first chicken egg & he asked if we could eat a tortoise egg if we finally got one! ICK, not even nice.
    So exciting for you!!!

Yay, egg!!! Sooo excited, especially because he was so excited! Love it. Funny, that was the same verse we went through for church yesterday. And I haven’t run since Thursday. Any connection? I’ll bet. Hmm….
