Well hello. Happy Monday friends.
Do I have a little special something for you today.
I’ll keep this short and to the point.
I get asked a lot what kind of strength training I do. I am working on an arm workout post too. I’ve been slacking a bit on that. Oopsies.
Anyhoo, I do resistance training 2-3 times a week. In 2 of the classes I teach it’s incorporated into an interval style with HIIT moves and cardio also. The primary equipment of choice are weights and resistance bands.
In boot camp we do a lot with resistance bands. You can pretty much get a full body workout using one. Legs, arms, chest, back, you name it, you can work it out with a band.
Here are my two favorite moves from boot camp on Saturday. They can be done with weights too, but resistance bands travel a little easier.
You pretty much can’t go wrong with squats. They are so great. Sit your hips back like you’re about to sit in a chair, weight should be in your heels, abs tight, neutral spine.
I love these because they get a little more into the outer thigh than standard lunges. Step back at a diagonal, but be sure to keep your front knee facing forward. Most of the weight stays on the front leg as you bring the back leg up and to the side. Make sure to keep your core tight and chest up.
Try these. Your buns will thank you. He he.
Okay, so let’s talk shoes. You know how much I love talking shoes.
I was recently sent a pair of the new Nano Speed shoes for review.
I know, I was super excited about the colors too. They match these shorts perfectly.
If only I would have had them at IDEA.
Maybe I could have scored some free egg white jugs. Ha ha.
I was excited to try these new shoes since I already love the Nano 2.0 and 3.0.
The Nano Speed is designed similar, but this shoe was built for more running-focused cross-training. It is still a training shoe, but built to be more running-friendly than the Nano 2.0 or 3.0.
Here are my little beauties.
I noticed the narrower fit right away. They feel a little more snug, which I like. They are also more supportive while still being a very light training shoe. I have really flat, wide feet and they still seem to work well for me.
The bottom is nice too. Flat, yet just enough cushion for a good HIIT training class or a BOSU class or to throw in a few running intervals. High impact pounding classes need shoes that have a little extra lateral support too. I always remind my classes about that.
I really think these might be my new favorites, especially for the classes I teach that incorporate so many different movements.
Hey, they even do well with the Giant Jump Rope workout.
So, here’s what’s in it for YOU.
