Some very important things happened today here at the Runner’s World Half Marathon and Festival.
First of all last night looked a little like this.
I know, right? Score on Modern Family reruns on USA.
Lovely reader Laura came to the hotel last night for a quick little visit
and she asked if I brought my own condiments for the trip.
Why yes, yes I did.
I also brought quite a few of my other favorite things.
Of course I doubled the recipe for the no grain plantain cupcake to make a loaf to bring along.
I’ve done it up a few different ways since I’ve been here.
As of 5 minutes ago, the loaf is now gone.
Oh heck yes I brought along my own Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Pie Spice too.
I also got my race outfit ready last night. It was kind of exciting as it’s been so long since I’ve raced.
This morning we raced the first two races of the Hat Trick.
She left us in the dust pretty quickly.
Janae and I said we were going to take it easy and run slow. Well, her slow is my fast. We finished the 5K in 21:20 (6:51 per mile).
The 10K started about an hour after that and we ran together again. Took it a little slower thank goodness as I was struggling a bit. We finished in 45:17 (7:17 per mile).
Um, but something really important happened during the race.
Summer Sanders, Olympic swimming gold medalist and TV celebrity, ran and chatted with us.
Oh heck yes that happened. We even all crossed the finish line together. It was so awesome and if it wasn’t for them, I would have seriously slowed down.
We all met Summer yesterday as one of our blogger events of the day.
She’s the cover model on this month’s issue.
Oops. Nothing to see there.
It was so great hearing another mom talk about how to balance everything out. It makes me realize there are a lot of us all kind of on the same page as far as finding time to fit it all in while still making our number one priority being a mom.
She’s running the half marathon tomorrow too so we’ll see if I can manage to keep up with these two fast ladies again.
Oh, and seriously, there are so many amazing people here. Runner’s World staff, bloggers, Runner’s World Challenge friends, blog friends and more. I’ve pretty much taken a picture with everyone and their mother so be prepared for a people photo dump coming really soon.
I’ll recap all the races together once I survive the half tomorrow to complete the Hat Trick. There definitely will not be a 3rd place for me this year as there are some speedy ladies here. I don’t have any time goals or anything for tomorrow, just trying to survive and be pain free for MCM marathon with Runner’s World Challenge next weekend.
Oh, and not that you care, but I made it to Dunkin Donuts today.
I didn’t realize just how close it was to my hotel or how many flavor options they had.
I went with the toasted almond.
It was okay. Just like some of you said though, it’s not Starbucks. I’m a sucker for a good old venti Americano.
Okay, it’s bedtime. See you on the other side.
Do you bring your own condiments with you when you travel?
Have you ever run with a celebrity?
Do you like flavored coffee or plain? (Someone on instagram told me to try the blueberry iced coffee. I’ve never had fruit flavored coffee before. Might be worth a try though while I’m here.)
