Mondays are marvelous, no?
Well, not always, but when you’re well rested and ready to tackle a new week (a short one at that) and you start them the right way practicing thankfulness, they are.
I’m thankful for a bunch of random things this morning.
First of all that I made the call to the local market last night for the purple sweet potatoes and that I have an awesome hubby that puts up with my madness and stopped there on the way home from church.
I know, right? I’m a lucky gal. Especially because my “quick stop” to pick up the potatoes they were holding for me uncharacteristically (yes-sarcasm) took a turn as I made a new friend, chatted too long and asked if there were some kabocha hidden somewhere in the back.
There were. And they were on sale for $.88/pound.
I stocked up. Oh and yeah, added just a couple plantains while I was there too.
I’m also thankful that it doesn’t get too cold here in Southern California as I was out at dawn taking pictures in my pajamas.
I should have been wearing my slippers, but I guess I save those for shopping in public. Ha ha.
Things I wanted to show you this morning were the devotional reading above and this cool gift I got in the mail from my amazing friend EMZ. She is one of the most inspirational people ever with her instagram posts. Love her.
I know right? How cool is the shirt. She’s so awesome she even has customized Bender Bottles. I want to be as cool as her someday.
I also wanted to show you a picture of the Pro Compression Sock of the Month for next month I just got my hands on. Obviously they’re holiday themed. I’m not allowed to show you yet, but let’s just say you won’t be disappointed.
No peeking until after Thanksgiving.
After Thanksgiving we not only get to peek, but we get to streak too. How awesome, right?
Pledge to run at least one mile every day, from Thanksgiving (that’s Thursday, November 28) through New Year’s Day.
Just commit to running a mile a day. Easy peasy. Let’s go streaking! I just pledged.
In addition to participating in the Holiday Running Streak, I’m also taking on a bit of a bigger challenge.
A super big STUFT challenge actually. I’m working with a fantastic charity organization, Sixty Feet, who raises money to help imprisoned children in Africa.
One of their main focuses is a program called Run Sixty Feet.
“All the money raised by Team Sixty Feet runners, will go to provide immediate relief in the form of water, food, medical care, clothing and bedding. It will also go to providing long term restoration through educational sponsorships, justice, counseling, resettlement efforts and the love of Christ.”
I’m taking on a bit of a huge challenge of my own, but we’re still figuring out the details. When I get all the information I’ll share, but let’s just say if this goes through I’ll be running quite a few miles for Run Sixty Feet come January 31st.
Yep, I was doing some research last night on some ultra training plans. Specifically this one from Runner’s World. I’m a bit nervous, but feel like it’s time to pay it forward with my running and want to do it in a big way.
My big virtual run will be January 31st, but you can choose when you want yours to be. They have a pretty cool giveaway going on right now if you register.
You can register here for the “STUFT 60 Challenge”. A lot more information on this to come soon, but just wanted to get the word out there.
I’ve also got some race deals and discounts to share.
Let’s see, first up.
December 8th, the Athleta Iron Girl Del Mar Women’s 5K/10K.
Use code STUFTMAMA for 10% off any of the races.
Um… cookie decorating, costume contest, etc. YES!!!!!
And, also fast approaching is a brand new race here in San Diego.
Use code SDBLOGGER20 for $20 off The San Diego Holiday Half Marathon. (*Code expires 11/30!)
I’m signing up right now. It’s a pretty flat course and will be the perfect race to end the year. Who wants to run with me to finish of 2013?
Okay, well, I think that’s all the race news for this morning.
Now I’m off to experiment making some no grain zucchini pumpkin pancakes. I wonder how they’ll turn out…..
Have a wonderful day!
Um, yep, notice the cup is no longer in Judah’s hand. You don’t want to know what happened, but you should know that the Starbucks people are VERY nice and will make you a new drink if it gets spilled out in front of the store while doing cheers.
You can still enter the Stehly Buffalo Jerky Giveaway.
What are you thankful for this morning?
Any other produce market hoarders out there?
Are you doing the Runner’s World Run Streak?
Who’s racing in December?
Ever spilled a drink in or in front of Starbucks?
