T’was the Night Before Thanksgiving

T’was the Night Before Thanksgiving

Hello Friends!

A couple of things really quick and then I get to go brave the store the night before Thanksgiving to pick up some things to make a salad.

Yeah, I’m in charge of salad (moving on up from previous years of rolls and olives). And yes, I’m leaving it to the last minute and get to go fight the crowds tonight. Should be a blast.

I also failed at my first attempt to make paleo blueberry scones yesterday.

It took me over an hour to mess with the ingredients and everything to try to get it right, then they bombed. Gotta love that. How do you get scones to stay together?

Oh, and speaking of paleo, the awesome Diane of Balanced Bites has a FREE downloadable Healthy Holiday Recipes E-Book that you can get here. I just signed up to get it, but haven’t gotten a chance to look it over just yet.

I got a really cool package from Artic Zero in the mail today with an assortment of all their goodies. Perfect timing with the whole Grain Brain Challenge being done and all. He he.

I’ll do a review once I test them out, but they’re having a little Harvesting Happiness campaign and you can win the same goodies I received (that included seven pints and two boxes of bars).

Here’s some details from Artic Zero:

Thanksgiving is a time to share our appreciation for the amazing people in our lives who love and support us, and to give thanks for all that we have. Often times, we’re dealing with so many things at once that days, weeks and months soon seem to blur together. So, this Thanksgiving, let’s do something a little bit different. We love that so many of our fans are so appreciative of friends and family, but how grateful are you for yourself? Share ONE decision you’ve made in the past that’s changed your life for the better. Not only will you feel good, but you’ll automatically be entered to win a week’s worth of Arctic Zero.

Timeframe: Tuesday, 11/12/13 to Thursday, 11/28/13

How to Enter: Visit http://shout.lt/m5P and answer our weekly questions about gratitude, health and happiness during the Thanksgiving season.

Prizes: Three winners will receive a care package of Arctic Zero each week that included seven pints and two boxes of bars.

Yes, I’m giving this to you at the tail end with only one day to enter, but hey, better than not getting a chance at all, right?

Also, if you haven’t entered the Swanson’s $100 Giveaway yet, you only have a couple hours. Get in on that action too, yes? Make sure to enter in the special box at the bottom, not in the comments. The winner will be chosen from those entries.

I got a little something else in the mail today.

Yeah, you remember those Reebok shoes I designed awhile back? I got them today. Yay!

Friends, stay tuned too because I’ll be having a GIVEAWAY in the next few days for YOU to win a custom shoe gift card to design your own shoes. So darn awesome. Get ready.

For now though, check out the special Black Friday Deals Reebok is having.

Reebok Nano 2.0’s for $75.00 with the promotional code “NANO”

       -  Buy any apparel item, get a second 50% off. The code will be “BOGO”

(runs 7:00pm on Thanksgiving through Sunday, December 1st on www.shop.reebok.com)

Just FYI, the Reebok Nano 2.0 shoes are usually $109 so that’s a pretty sweet deal and they have lots of fun colors and designs. I wear mine a lot for BOSU and HIIT classes.

Okay, not much else. I don’t even have any weird food pictures to share. I better get on that. Ha.

I’m seriously scared to brave the store right now. What am I doing?

Anyone else still have to go to the store for Thanksgiving?

What are you making for your dinner/celebration?

Do you do the whole Black Friday shopping thing?

Arctic Zero looks awesome, I hope I can find it near me!!

The scones probably need a little more fat (coconut oil?) to hold them together. You could always break them up and use them as a topping like you might use granola. That sounds good!

I have been really wanting to try the arctic zero!! Have you tried them out yet? I saw them in a store and came really close to buying it!

Hope the store wasn’t too bad!! So…on the artic zero front. IMO- I’d rather eat real food. Although I did find a flavor I liked, it always made me feel sick after I ate it. I’ll be eager to hear your opinion.

Article Zero is pretty pricey and DOES not taste good at all…blech.

Mostst scones, it’s all about the butter. Not sure what your recipe calls for.

I was going to make a totally smart comment about scones and paleo but as a vegan I shouldn’t throw stones…LOL. Anyway, as long as they taste OK who cares what they look like or if they stay together.

    Have a great thanksgiving! Sam

I’m not sure if you’re brave or crazy for hitting up the stores the night before Thanksgiving … maybe a little of both? Happy Thanksgiving!
