Sunday Morning Thoughts and a STUFT Boys Video

And…. good morning.

I told myself I wasn’t allowed to write a post until I started my Christmas shopping.

Well, I have some things in my Amazon cart and finally ordered some Christmas cards, so that’s good enough, right?

Oh man, I think I’m in trouble.

Smile

Anyhoo…..

Hope your weekend has been treating you well.

Today is a rest day. Yahoo!

Between Friday and Saturday I logged 40 miles so I’m more than ready to rest. Yesterday it wasn’t one long run, it was about three short ones randomly throughout the day just to try to get the miles in for an upcoming event. Still finding out if my body is made for that kind of mileage. We shall see.

We’ve had one wild weekend over here so far.

I guess all the cool people have had holiday parties to go to. We don’t have any this year. None. Yeah, I guess we’re just that cool. Ha.

So….. we made our own party.

Friday night we made s’mores.

We didn’t have graham crackers so we came up with the next best option. Costco animal crackers.

A certain someone was not impressed.

Last night I got all dressed up for date night with my man

(the shirt is from Pavement Runner)

and we even broke out the cheap almond champagne.

2013-12-14 19.16.34

Why the margarita glasses?

Well, because we were having Mexican food and had to pretend that chicken burritos went with champagne. Ha.

Oh and yes, as usual our date night entertainment was Modern Family.

Love that show and Phil is the best!

And yes, it’s been CHILLY here the past couple of mornings. We even had frost.

That’s not our house, it’s the one behind us, but I had to show you the proof.

I’ve been back on the whole egg white STUFT egg-rito thing lately.

Yesterday’s was egg whites, kale, sweet Italian chicken sausage, coconut oil and Cholula.

Sometimes a little hard to roll up, but hey, it’s worth it if you need a quick protein fix.

Oh and the new clock plan to keep my little man in his room has kind of been working.

The first day he slept in past the time on his little sign (it was 6:15 am) and came out crying.

“Mommy, the numbers on my clock don’t match.”

Sweet, sweet boy. I didn’t even think about that. I explained it was better because he slept past the numbers, but we still have a little work to do.

I am happy to report though that yesterday he sat on his rocking chair and waited for the numbers to match before he came out and today he stayed in there until 6 am also.

Woo hoo!

He did promptly hop into bed with me though with his book and wanted to read at 6. Whelp, that’s what we did.

Check out Kitty’s evil eye. Ha.

I had to share though the link that Laura shared with the best toddler alarm clocks. There are some pretty darn cool ones out there with different features and such. Here it is. Thanks Laura!

The Best Toddler Alarm Clocks

And while we’re talking toddlers, lately Joaquin has been requesting a chocolate salad milkshake every afternoon and I’ve been delivering.

You can sneak so much goodness in smoothies. Love it.

Yesterday Judah come up to me and asked for me to take a picture of him in his glasses.

2013-12-14 16.06.04

Then he informed me that he wanted to make a video.

Um, okay.

Here you go. The first installment of the Judah show. Joaquin gets in on the action too and well. Nothing too exciting, but I have a feeling this is the first of many more to come. And yes, we are fully aware that we do not sing the correct words to a certain song.

Random, but I was so excited about these Christmas undies I got for the boys.

2013-12-15 06.54.14

They were on for about a minute before Joaquin decided he didn’t like them. Darn it.

Our reading last night in the boys’ devotional was a good one.

Everyone’s waiting for Christmas and for Jesus to come, but we need to be thankful and take in each and every moment right now.

Yeah we all have a million things to do and are stressed about the holidays, etc. but it’s so important to just take a couple minutes each day to be still and thankful for the season and all it has to offer.

Okay, I’m off.

We have church, some baking to do and some quiet reading time.

I have these two new books I’m pretty pumped about and will be making sure I have some time to relax and read them today.

The Greatest Gift

The 21 Day Sugar Detox Cookbook

(I got this before it actually releases to review. I’m so excited!)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

I’m giving up some of my usual baking madness to have a less stressful holiday. Yeah, some people might be disappointed, but I decided it’s not worth the stress this year. Sometimes you have to do that for yourself, right?

What’s one thing you can give up to enjoy the holidays more?

Have you started your shopping yet?

Did my not sending Christmas cards influence any of your not wanting to bake to be less stressed? I like to think I can influence you somehow..ha!

Cute video ….I like how hubs is so focused on his sweeping but then right in the middle of the SOLO he asks about a different song and the solo is over…..ha!

While you have some things in your Amazon cart, you should add the DVD “Apostles of Comedy.” If you like comedy like we do, and want clean Christian comedy, then this is an awesome and funny DVD. http://www.amazon.com/Apostles-Comedy-Jeff-Allen/dp/B001957A12/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1387130699&sr=8-1&keywords=Apostles+of+comedy

I have been Christmas shopping for a week or two. Tree has been up since before Thanksgiving…yes I’m one of those people, haha. Living in San Diego has just got me missing cold weather so I had to put it up early! :-)

I am with you I have done NO Christmas shopping. My husband has a big test tomorrow so all our focus has ben on that and THEN maybe we can get a little bit of shopping done! I am probably going to do some of it tonight online. I think that is probably best and it will at least make me feel a little accomplished.

I just got myself the 21 Day Sugar Detox book. I’m excited to start (I just got injured, can’t run for a few weeks, and need to “reset” myself!), but I also am a little scared, to be honest!! I am super addicted to sugars and sugar sweeteners. I will be turning to your blog and your posts from earlier this year when you were dealing with your hip for extra inspiration!! :)

Amazing mileage! I’m working up to longer runs for the Around the Bay race in March and still can’t believe I’ll be able to run 30k.

We had a very similar Holiday Party on Friday night, my favorite kind of party :) Did you get the boy’s footie-jammies from Costco? My Little has the monster ones but he’s starting to out-grow them and that makes me a sad mama.

Love hearing the boys sing … here in the Great White North we are singing “Every Day We’re Shovelin’” Happy Sunday :D

Are you going to run an ultra? You have had a couple comments lately about testing your body with mileage (like 40 in 2 days!!).
    Cute video!
