Today was Joaquin and Judah’s birthday.
Oh my sweet, sweet boys.
Today they turned four. I can’t believe it. How does the time go by so fast?
I feel like I wrote this post on their 2nd birthday just yesterday.
Man oh man.
After teaching boot camp and scrambling to a couple stores this morning we did the whole throw together whatever kind of a party you can pull off kind of things at Tutu’s house.
Tutu opened her house to us, my sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews helped with everything and Mom pulled through with some appetizers.
I pulled through with a Costco veggies tray.
I had this really great idea to do this whole scavenger hunt thing with a treasure map and gold coins and what not to go with the whole pirate theme they boys requested.
I did not pull that off, but I did buy this downloadable scavenger hunt for $9.99.
It seemed to go alright. There were colored cards groups had to find that were hidden all around.
We also did the whole pirate ship piñata thing.
And the cheap pirate hat thing.
The boys and I all got hats, but go figure I was the only one who would wear it at the party and no one wanted an eye patch.
The boys were also too busy playing with everyone to let me take their picture. Judah didn’t want the camera around. He didn’t even let anyone watch him when he took his swings at the piñata. Funny guy.
We ordered the biggest pizzas ever
and had not one, but two cakes.
Yep, any cake can be a pirate cake with a few figurines.
Oh and the reason we had two cakes was because Joaquin needed a chocolate one (that specific one to be exact) and Judah needed a red velvet one (which was actually red and green velvet because that’s one that was 50% off).
And we sang twice.
A huge thank you for my sister-in-law Bern for taking a few pictures for me because I didn’t get the chance. Kind of funny because all I do every day is take pictures and then at the boys’ party when I SHOULD be taking them, I didn’t. I walked around with my camera around my neck for a bit, but there was so much other stuff going on. Oops.
Oh, but I did convince STUFT Daddy to be in one with me once things calmed down a bit at the end.
So that’s that.
We made it through our pirate party, unfortunately sans pictures of the boys together.
But, the pictures aren’t what matter, it’s the amazing friends and family that come and help you put things like this together. So, a huge thank you to ALL of them. We are blessed.
And the boys had a blast. They were so excited that it was THEIR party and their cousins and a few friends were there for them. And to a 4 year old, having some gold candy coins and a pirate ship piñata three days after Christmas is pretty cool.
Oh, in case you’re wondering how to properly talk like a pirate, I just found this. Random.
I was hoping for a stellar recap of the party, but this will have to be good enough.
I’ve got to hit the sack.
I’ve got an early morning tomorrow.
All I can do is laugh. We’ll see how things go.
