I Ran in Boston and Some Monday Morning Musings

Good morning!

So I have this new rule this year. Sundays are my disconnect day. Disconnect with social media, but really be in the moment at home. It was pretty fabulous.

So, let’s see. STUFT Daddy had the day off yesterday so we made a deal. I got to go outside for a run and he got to go watch the football games with his friends.

I was so excited to get outside just around the house in the chilly weather. I got my Mizuno gear on so darn fast (I had to before STUFT Daddy changed his mind on the deal).

2014-01-05 07.19.35

The whole first mile I couldn’t stop smiling because I had just gotten some really exciting racing news before I left the house.

2014-01-05 07.32.54

After the first mile though it was a little tougher. The route around my house is hilly and my legs were feeling the miles from Saturday. But, the run was lovely. Really there is something so freeing about running.

7.2 slow recovery miles.

Did not love the random stain on my shirt.

2014-01-05 08.28.34

I finally got a few things set up on my treadmill, so this morning I got to run the first 5 miles of the Boston Marathon course with the Google Maps iFit program.

Cool huh? The elevation changes with the map and everything.

So this morning started with five easy miles in Boston while watching Gossip Girl and sporting the oldest shorts I could find.

Gotta love that.

Other randomness from the weekend.

I found just a couple purple sweet potatoes so I can make these a few more times before I really can’t find any more potatoes.

I went through the ones the Frieda’s sent so fast it isn’t even funny.

My last one I recently consumed went down a little like this.

Mashed up with a little coconut butter, cinnamon and a double chocolate Quest Bar. It was one melty mess of goodness.

Some other things that went down this weekend that I just feel like sharing.

We got all fancy with dinner Saturday night. Thank you Costco.

I even got dressed up for the occasion.

IMG_2156

Ha. Those bacon wrapped scallops turned out pretty well. We were impressed although the eight servings were two at our house.

IMG_2157

Oh and they were followed by some delicious dark chocolate.

Nothing beats a good dark chocolate bar. The darker the better. The wine helps too.

Yesterday we were back to the egg white scramble thing for breakfast.

IMG_2159

This one was turkey, kale and egg whites with Scotty B’s hot sauce, some seasoning and coconut oil.

I had a very sorry attempt to make “Spiderman waffles” my sister-in-law told me about with Coach’s Oats pancake mix.

2014-01-05 10.24.26

Yes, that is in fact supposed to be Spiderman’s web. I know, I’ll work on it.

I finally have my little sugar loving monster eating apples. He will only eat them like this though.

“In a ball without any skin.”

The boys and I had a little Charger watching party of our own yesterday.

First we watched the game.

Then we played our own.

2014-01-05 16.34.49

And celebrated with a little protein cake batter smoothie in STUFT Daddy’s jar and some kona cola Nuun.

Oh and some Love Grown Foods oat clusters may have found their way into my smoothie. Funny how that happens.

And here are a couple motivational pictures I found on instagram yesterday.

I’m into this motivational quote thing lately.

Okay, had to get all the chit chat out of the way because my next post is a giveaway and I will only talk giveaway talk. Well, I’ll try anyway.

One more thing-

A huge group is starting the 21 Day Sugar Detox today. If you’re looking for something to kick those sugar cravings, it’s a pretty awesome program and the new 21 Day Sugar Detox Cookbook is awesome (review and giveaway later this week)!

Have a marvelous Monday!

Tell me something fun from your weekend.

Or your favorite place you’ve ever run or walked.

Hello! I just found your blog and am loving it so far. :) This weekend we took the Christmas decorations down which was an interesting experience since we always go all out. My favorite place I’ve ever run was in Florida on vacation, it was in a totally new neighborhood, 60 degrees in the end of February (as opposed to 30 back home), and just an awesome run after eating out and being lazy. :) BTW-I’m with you on the dark chocolate. 80% is my favorite!

We watch ALOT of football in my house too….and then go out and play it too!!!I love the motivational quotes…keep ‘em coming!! I started my husband on the 21 DSD today woot woot. I’m not sure he is thrilled but…. he will be in 21 days. I’ll be waiting for your review and give-a-way. I did it because of your earlier review and loved the way I felt after the 21 days (the first few are a little tough but worth it). Love your Mizuno cold gear!!! Happy day!

Can’t wait to hear your exciting race news :) I just saw the RW half & festival registration opened….if I’m gonna sign up, I better do it now while it’s at its cheapest….. Haha. Hmm…my favorite place to run is always on vacation. Loved running along the LBI beaches, Kiawah Island, and around Bar Harbor, Maine.

We had a low key weekend but it was a good thing we did because I got lots of work done and got some cleaning done that I have been putting off around the house. I finally got our Christmas tree out and then got organized for the week ahead – I’m ready to go now!

I have to say the sweet potato and chocolate thing intrigues me. It doesn’t seem like it would taste good but it looks so good in your pictures!

I finally put up all the Christmas trees and started cooking again.

We pretty much just tried to stay warm here! I also spent a lot of time searching for kale at the grocery store, apparently snow storm=all the kale is gone. I need to try to hunt down some purple sweet potatoes, I’ve never seen them in southern Indiana!

oh that waffle is embarrassing. Do I need to make a demo tape? Batter may need to be a bit thinner. But I am glad you reminded me about Coach’s Oats Pancake Mix., love it!
